Abstract:
Marine adaptive sampling is a technique that makes full use of limited observation resources by selecting the optimal positions. Recently, the design of an adaptive sampling scheme based on a mobile platform has become a research hotspot. However, adaptive sampling system involves multiple subsystems, and the attributes as well as tasks are always different, which may lead to different sampling scenarios. A great deal of research has been conducted for specific situations, especially with fixed starting and ending points. However, systematic design and simulation experiments under various circumstances are still lacking. How to design the adaptive observation system, so as to cope with the observation task under different scenarios, is still a problem worth studying. Aiming to solve this problem, we designed a systematic scheme design process. The process includes setting up and verifying the background field, adopting the hierarchical optimization framework to adapt to different circumstances, and variable adjustments for twin frames. The needs covered in this paper include not having a fixed starting point and ending point, only having a fixed starting point, having a fixed starting point and ending point, increasing sampling coverage, and simple obstacle avoidance. Finally, the relevant conclusions are applied to the multi-platform simultaneous observation scenario. It provides a systematic flow pattern for designing adaptive sampling scheme of mobile platforms.

Abstract:
In this study, we improve the matching accuracy of underwater gravity matching navigation. Firstly, the Iterative Optimal Annulus Point (IOAP) method with a novel grid topology is proposed for breaking through the inherent grid structure limit of the canonical gravity matching algorithm and enhancing its underwater gravity matching accuracy. The theory of IOAP is as follows: (1) small-annulus matching and positioning mechanism on the tracking starting point is developed by employing the starting point and drift error of the INS (Inertial Navigation System), the fixed rotation angle, etc. The optimal matching location of the starting point is obtained by matching and comparing the matched points in this small-annulus grid, which contributes to heightening the initial-position error insensitivity of the algorithms. (2) Variable-angle three-layer annulus matching and positioning mechanisms on the tracking ending point were constructed by using the optimal matching location of the starting point and combining the tracking direction-and-distance information of the INS and the cumulative drift error, etc. It is used to generate the annulus matching points with the ring-type grid topology. (3) The optimal matching position of the ending point in this annulus is obtained by iteratively calculating the evaluation index value of the matching points and following the evaluation index optimal rule. Secondly, we comprehensively consider the main performance evaluation indexes of the underwater gravity matching algorithms, such as the statistical indicators of the matching accuracy, the average matching time and the matching success rate, and take them as a basis of the pros and cons of the matching analysis. Furthermore, under conditions that include different scale searching regions or different reference-angle ring radii, the statistical results verify that the IOAP had a different matching ability and better robustness. Finally, several trajectories with the starting points from different areas and the ending points in different gravity ranges are tested and compared to carry out the numerical simulations. These results indicate that the IOAP has many advantages, such as a high matching accuracy and strong positioning applicability in different gravity regions. Compared with the TERCOM (terrain contour matching algorithm), its average matching accuracy was the highest, increased by 40.39%.

Abstract:
In this paper the detailed structure of the transport beam line design is proposed, quadrupoles and deflectors specifications in order to transport the beam from the optic adaptation point in the SPIRAL2 production building up to the adaptation point in the DESIR hall. All optical elements, in beam line, are electrostatic and so, settings are independent of the ratio q/m of the particle. The calculations are done by COSY INFINITY computer code in first order of approximation and without fringe field effects. The beam emittances at the starting point (adaptation point in the SPIRAL2 production building) in horizontal and vertical planes are 80p mm mrad. The beam line is designed in such a way that the beam sizes, in both planes, at the end (adaptation point in the DESIR hall) are kept the same as they are at the starting point; the horizontal and vertical displacements from the optic axis at starting and ending points are the same, ?6 mm. In such case the efficiency of transport of the beam is high.

Abstract:
Path search is closely related to distance with searching at a location or place in a mapping in a search many heuristic algorithms are used. One of the algorithms used to determine the closest path is the floyd warshal algorithm which applies a heuristic function so that it will provide the most effective path search results. The problem that arises when the general public wants to find the nearest hospital is that there is no information that can be used as a medium that can determine the nearest hospital, therefore this study will apply the floyd warsahll algorithm with a distance formula that can be used to determine the best path or the closest distance To reach the nearest hospital, one of the distance formulas is the Euclidean Distance formula which is a calculation of the distance from 2 points in the Euclidean Distance space. the overall result of the calculation between the starting point or starting point with the end point or end node in the current case the starting point is at Permata Bunda Hospital which is assumed to be the starting point and ending point, namely the Madani Hospital. The results show that for a civil hospital the closest distance is 0.88 km which passes through nodes 2,3, and 4.

The designing process of an effective Counter Remotely Aircraft System needs to benefit from a systemic approach, starting from the legal aspects, and ending with the technical ones. From a technical point of view, the system has to work according to the five “kill chain” model starting with the detection phase, going on with the classification, prioritization, tracking and neutralization of the targets and ending with the forensic phase.

Abstract:
High-precision mapping and positioning of urban underground pipelines are the basic requirements of urban digital construction. Aiming at the above problems, a dead reckoning algorithm based on the starting point and ending point correction and forward and reverse solution information reuse is proposed. This paper firstly establishes a dead reckoning system model consisting of a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) inertial measurement unit (IMU) and an odometer and analyzes the propagation mechanism of dead reckoning errors. The algorithm constructs the trajectory correction matrix by using the position information of the starting point and the ending point of the short-distance underground pipeline and then uses the trajectory correction matrix to correct the trajectory position information obtained by forward and reverse dead reckoning. Finally, the corrected forward and reverse trajectory position information is fused and averaged to achieve high-precision mapping and positioning of underground pipelines. The simulation results of the 100 m pipeline show that the maximum positioning error of the proposed algorithm for straight pipelines is within 5 cm, and the maximum positioning error for 90° curved pipelines is within 20 cm. The algorithm effectively solves the problem of a rapid accumulation of errors over time in the process of dead reckoning, which greatly improves the positioning accuracy.

Abstract:
A system of non-intersecting squared Bessel processes is considered which all start from one point and they all return to another point. Under the scaling of the starting and ending points when the macroscopic boundary of the paths touches the hard edge, a limiting critical process is described in the neighborhood of the touching point which we call the hard edge tacnode process. We derive its correlation kernel in an explicit new form which involves Airy type functions and operators that act on the direct sum of L2(ℝ+) and a finite-dimensional space. As the starting points of the squared Bessel paths are set to 0, a cusp in the boundary appears. The limiting process is described near the cusp and it is called the hard edge Pearcey process. We compute its multi-time correlation kernel which extends the existing formulas for the single-time kernel. Our pre-asymptotic correlation kernel involves the ratio of two Toeplitz determinants which are rewritten using a Borodin–Okounkov type formula.

Abstract:
The National Airport Pavement Test Facility (NAPTF) in USA obtained the strain and deformation data of the asphalt airport pavement numbered as Track 3 under the wheel load traveling in the north area of Construction Cycle 7 (CC7). But, the classic theories and methods still could not find out the definite and essential working characteristics, such as the starting point of the asphalt pavement’s failure process and the ending point of the normal working process. This study reveals the essential working characteristics of the asphalt airport pavement by modeling the tested strain and deformation data based on structural state-of-stress theory. Firstly, the tested data are modeled as state variables to build the state-of-stress mode and the parameter characterizing the mode. Then, the slope increment criterion detects the mutation points in the evolution curve of the characteristic parameter with a wheel load traveling number increase. Correspondingly, the mutation features are verified by investigating the evolution curves of the state-of-stress modes. The mutation points define the failure starting point and the elastoplastic branch (EPB) point in the working process of the asphalt airport pavements. The strain state-of-stress mode (Δεt) and characteristic parameters (Ej and Φj) presented an obvious mutation feature around the EPB point; in addition, the deformation state-of-stress mode (ΔDt) showed that the total deformation of the pavement changed evidently before and after the failure starting point, and the characteristic parameters (Ej and Φj) also presented an obvious mutation feature around the failure starting point, so both characteristic points could address the classic issues in the load-bearing capacity of asphalt airport pavements. Furthermore, the EPB point could be directly taken as the design point, and the failure starting point could be taken as the limit-bearing traffic capacity. Hence, this study could open a new way to address the classic issues in the load-bearing capacity of asphalt airport pavements and provide a new reference for their safe estimation and rational design.

The new method uses an energy-minimization function under the influence of inter-frames. The energy serves to impose frame-wise and curve-wise constraints among the interpolated frames.

Abstract:
Ads promising a desired change are ubiquitous in the marketplace. These ads typically include visuals of the starting and ending point of the promised change (“before/after” ads). “Progression” ads, which include intermediate steps in addition to starting and ending points, are much rarer in the marketplace. Across several consumer domains, the authors show an ad-type effect: progression ads foster spontaneous simulation of the process through which the change will happen, which makes these ads more credible and, in turn, more persuasive than before/after ads (Studies 1–3). The authors also show that impairing process simulation and high skepticism moderate the ad-type effect (Studies 4–5). Finally, they show effect reversals: if consumers focus on achieving the desired results quickly, and it is possible to do so, progression ads and the associated process simulation backfire in terms of credibility and persuasion (Studies 6–7). These findings contribute to existing research by identifying conditions under which progression ads have beneficial or disadvantageous effects. These findings have managerial implications because they run counter to current marketing practices, which favor before/after over progression ads.

Abstract:
Star sensors make use of astronomical information in stars to determine attitude for spacecrafts by star image recognition. For low-cost star sensors with small field of view, fusion of observed images from multiple fields of view is performed and a novel recognition algorithm based on path optimization by randomly distributed ant colony is proposed. According to pheromone intensity, the ant colony can autonomously figure out a close optimal path without starting or ending point, rather than certifying a starting point first. Feature patterns extracted from the optimal path in guiding template and observed image after fusion are compared to perform star recognition. By the proposed algorithm, starting point for path optimization has no influence on the extracted feature pattern. Thus the star recognition rate is improved due to the higher stability of the extracted pattern. Simulations indicate that the algorithm improves recognition accuracy and robustness against noise for sensors with multiple fields of view.

Abstract:
This text investigates the procedurality inaugurated by the action of subjects, which can be seen especially in the developments devoted to the play Antigone, in the Phenomenology of the Spirit. The conflict of irreducible rights entails the creation of a theory of action – in which the ends do not justify the means. Such an ethical requirement, always a posteriori, is imposed when the non-control of the relational world is verified, implying, finally, an open historicity. However, if simply being in the world is an action since it produces effects, we ask ourselves about the conditions (background in a situation governing expectations, but also the history of thought) and potentialities (disruptive emergence that organizes expectations, in becoming) of action. Thanks to externalizations that generate a problematic field, in the form of language, work and desire, we contract alterity relations and arrive at ourselves, through the other, fatally different from the starting point. It is up to philosophy to judge the implications of each particular action.

Abstract:
Numerical investigation of ram-rotors with different strake profiles and maximum thickness positions has been performed. Four types of strake profiles are modeled firstly and the results show that total pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency of the ss-sym, ss-ps, and ss-ss schemes are improved in different degrees compared with the sym-sym scheme, in which the comprehensive performance of the ss-ss scheme is relatively optimal, and its total pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency are increased by 26.275% and 2.554%, respectively. The results of different strake maximum thickness positions indicate that the total pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency are gradually increasing with the backward movement of starting point of maximum thickness, and the pressure rising capacity can come to a peak value. As the ending point of maximum thickness moves backward, there both exist peak values of the total pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency. Compared with the ss-ss scheme, the scheme that combines optimal starting and ending point positions of maximum thickness takes advantage of these two schemes to achieve a higher aerodynamic performance, with total pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency increasing 0.182% and 1.928%, respectively. Moreover, in comparison to the original sym-sym scheme, the total pressure ratio and the adiabatic efficiency of the combination scheme are improved much by 26.50% and 4.53%.

Abstract:
Zusammenfassung Many explanations have been proposed for the dative singular in -u in Old Norse ō-stems. Most of these take as their starting point a Proto- Germanic instrumental in *-ō, PIE *‑ā. Such an ending, however, should according to the established laws for syncope in Nordic result in an Old Norse zero ending. This article reveals the many problems researchers have encountered attempting to back up the traditional explanation. Instead it argues that the dative in -u must stem from a Proto-Norse ending covered by a nasal, *-ōn or *-un, where the vowel later got nasalized and therefore was preserved as -u in Old Norse. This nasal-ending of Proto-Norse could in turn be connected with the Balto-Slavic instrumentals in -mi, Plural -mis, for which in Germanic there have so far only been found cognates in the dative plural. The ultimate source for the Old Norse dative in -u could either be a PIE ā-stem instrumental in *-āmi, which would give the proposed Proto-Norse ending *-ōn, or a PIE consonantal stem instrumental in *-mi, which, with the addition of an analogical -u- between stem and ending, would give Proto-Norse *-un. In the latter case, the ending must have been transferred analogically from the consonantal stems to the ō-stems during the Proto-Norse period.

After the current edge of the shortest path is blocked, the shortest path is selected from the current node of the shortest path. If the current edge of the shortest path is blocked again, the selection continues until the shortest path to the ending point is selected. In the case of unrecoverable congestion, the properties of the anti-clogging coefficient vector on any origin-destination pair, a path, and the whole traffic network are analysed, and the algorithm of the anti-clogging coefficient and its complexity are given. Finally, an example analysis is carried out using a local traffic network in a city.

Using Yomdin's Theorem [8], we show that for a compact Riemannian manifold M, the geodesic entropy — defined as the exponential growth rate of the average number of geodesic segments between two points — is ≤ the topological entropy of the geodesic flow of M. We also show that if M is simply connected and N ⊂ M is a compact simply connected submanifold, then the exponential growth rate of the sequence given by the Betti numbers of the space of paths starting in N and ending in a fixed point of M, is bounded above by the topological entropy of the geodesic flow on the normal sphere bundle of N.

Abstract:
This paper describes a novel trajectory planning algorithm for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) under the constraints of system positioning accuracy. Due to the limitation of the system structure, a UAV cannot accurately locate itself. Once the positioning error accumulates to a certain degree, the mission may fail. This method focuses on correcting the error during the flight process of a UAV. The improved genetic algorithm (GA) and A* algorithm are used in trajectory planning to ensure the UAV has the shortest trajectory length from the starting point to the ending point under multiple constraints and the least number of error corrections.

An effective online handwritten numeral recognition system is designed based on the Matlab GUI interface. The coordinate locations of the handwritten numerals are recorded, from which the stroke direction variations and the 2-dimensional distance between the starting point and ending point of the numeral are obtained as the features, which are encoded into 42 bits binary sequence, and then input to the Hopfield neural network. The associative memory function of the Hopfield neural network can implement the learning and recognition of the handwritten numeral. Testing results show that the designed system has high recognition rate and fast recognition speed.

Abstract:
One of the key tasks in software development is to achieve “usability”, commonly interpreted as a balance of learnability, efficiency, memorability, and satisfaction in user–computer interaction. Initially being graphical designers’ area of responsibility, in the 2010s this concept expanded onto the verbal interface content – “microcopy” – button and window labels, confirmation and error messages, etc. Over the following years, a set of basic principles as well as recommendations for writing individual elements of interfaces were developed, and the structural and communicative features of error messages and on-board “Help” texts were studied. However, to date, there are no guidelines for developing an interface as a cohesive semiotic entity. In this study, the software user interface is considered as a type of text whose criteria are manifested implicitly or in an unconventional way. Foremost, based on the commonly cited literature, the set of formal textuality criteria was identified, namely the delimitation (presence of marked beginning and ending), divisibility (presence of a clear structure), and cohesion (means employed to unify this structure). The applicability of these criteria then was evaluated utilizing the comparative method on the textual content of Microsoft Word 2013 and EmEditor 21.2.1 interfaces with attention to its hypertextual and creolized nature. It was revealed that, due to the artefact nature of the object, identification of the starting and ending points of the interface requires determining the static functionally central “home page”, from which the routine intended operations are initiated and aborted by a user. On this page, the starting point is placed according to pragmatic considerations and by writing system rules both, and the linearity vectors could be traced to the ending points in several directions. At the same time, hypertextuality of interfaces is limited by a strict modeling of the task order in the context of the software functionality. From the divisibility point, the hypertext fractionality notwithstanding, classic desktop interfaces could be perceived as a dynamic series of “pages” comprised from ever-present on screen content (such as main menu and status bar) and called-on content (like dropdown menus, windows and messages). Such pages are naturally divided into a number of smaller texts, including separate one-word buttons, each acting as a title and starting point of a called-on text fragment. Regarding cohesion, the analysis shows that user interfaces vastly employ creolized means of cohesion, relaying the conjunction, anaphoric and cataphoric relations visually or by juxtaposition, and repetition, and do not employ any means prone to create ambiguity and misinterpretation. Thus, the article concludes that the verbal content of desktop interfaces could be considered to be a special kind of the dynamic creolized text with a complex structure and several reading vectors.

Abstract:
Abstract When a drifter is trapped in an eddy, it makes either a cycloidal or a looping trajectory. The former case takes place when the translating speed is larger than the eddy spinning speed. When the background mean velocity is removed, drifter trajectories make loops. Thus, eddies can be detected from a drifter trajectory by identifying looping segments. In this paper, an automated scheme is developed to identify looping segments from Lagrangian trajectories, based on a geometric definition of a loop, that is, a closing curve with its starting point overlapped by its ending point. The scheme is to find the first returning point, if it exists, along a trajectory of a surface drifter with a few other criteria. To further increase the chance that detected loops are eddies, it is considered that a loop identifies an eddy only when the loop’s spinning period is longer than the local inertial period and shorter than the seasonal scale, and that at least two consecutive loops with the same polarity that stay sufficiently close are found. Five parameters that characterize an eddy are estimated by the scheme: location (eddy center), time (starting and ending time), period, polarity, and intensity. As an example, the scheme is applied to surface drifters in the Kuroshio Extension region. Results indicate that numbers of eddies are symmetrically distributed for cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies, mean eddy sizes are 40–50 km, and eddy abundance is the highest along the Kuroshio path with more cyclonic eddies along its southern flank.

Abstract:
The periodization of contemporary Indonesian history is generally divided into three periods, namely the period of Revolution, the Liberal Democracy, the Guided Democracy, the New Order, and the Reformation. Periodization requires accuracy in determining the starting and ending points as well as consistency in the use of terms with historical facts. The Liberal Democracy in this case, there was inaccuracy in the terms used and the temporal scope that had been determined. By using historical methods that emphasize literature study, this research will explain, when the term “liberal democracy” began and what historiographical consequences there would be if that period began in 1950. From the research and analysis that has been carried out, parliamentary democracy is more appropriate to use as a periodization. Liberal democracy can be a concept that accompanies parliamentary democracy. Then the starting point of this period was 1945 when the Workers' Body-Central Indonesian National Committee as a legislative body was formed. The historiographic development of periodization starting in 1950 would miss the democratization process and the ideas of Indonesian actors and agencies at the beginning of independence, as well as the historical continuity between 1945 and 1959.

This paper focuses on situations in several companies each of which has a set of jobs that it has to complete. Each job has a specific starting and ending time and a specific starting and ending point. In order to complete its jobs a company needs to acquire components. There are several types of components. Each job requires exactly one component but not all components are suitable for all jobs. By cooperating, the companies can reduce the costs of acquisition. A component can be used by several companies as long as there is no overlap in the time-intervals of usage by different companies and there is enough time to move the component from where a company has stopped using it to where the next company needs it. A cooperative component acquisition game is constructed to model the cooperation between the companies. This game need not be balanced. Additional properties are introduced that guarantee the game to be totally balanced. We construct an element of the core by using the integer programming formulation of the characteristic function. These games have some relationship with coloring games but we show that results that are valid for coloring games do not hold for them.
