Abstract:
Humans are very good at conveying when something is lost or misinterpreted in communication by using social cues like facial expressions or changes in prosody. However, these methods are usually not applicable for most robots, which are appearance constrained and vocality constrained. This is also one of the key factors that restrain the efficiency of Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). In this project, we explore a novel paradigm for enhancing the perception of the robot’s internal states using augmented reality (AR). Abstract:
Under the Common Core State Standard (CCSS) initiative, states that voluntarily adopt the common core standards work together to develop a common assessment in order to supplement and replace existing state assessments. However, the common assessment may not cover all state standards, so states within the consortium can augment the assessment using locally developed items that align with state-specific standards to ensure that all necessary standards are measured. The purpose of this dissertation was to evaluate the linking accuracy of the augmented tests using the common-item nonequivalent gr

Augmented reality (AR) has emerged as a new interactive technology that enables marketers to craft an immersive experience for customers. The technology complaints the physical environment with virtual objects, and thus have the unique power to put the (virtual) product in the hands of the consumer. This provides marketers with a new option for reaching out and engaging with customers. Although the AR market is estimated to grow exponentially by the year 2023, little is known about how AR-applications on smart devices influence customer experience. Abstract:
With the increasing complexity of modern day processors and system-on-a-chip (SOCs), designers invest a lot of time and resources into testing and validating these designs. To reduce the time-to-market and cost, the techniques used to validate these designs have to constantly improve. Since most of the design activity has moved to the register transfer level (RTL), test methodologies at the RTL have been gaining momentum. We present a novel functional test generation framework for functional test generation at RTL. A popular software-based metric for measuring the effectiveness of an RTL test

This is where the name augmented identification (AI) by using the least-squares method was taken. Advances in computer networks and rendering systems facilitate the creation of distributed collaborative environments in which the distribution of information at remote locations allows efficient communication. Particularly challenging are distributed interactive Virtual Environments (VE) that allow knowledge sharing through 3D information. In a distributed interactive VE the dynamic shared state represents the changing information that multiple machines must maintain about the shared virtual components. One of the challenges in such environments is maintaining a consistent view of the dynamic

Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with the solution of control and state constrained optimal control problems, which are governed by elliptic partial differential equations. Problems of this type are challenging since they suffer from the low regularity of the multiplier corresponding to the state constraint. Applying an augmented Lagrangian method we overcome these difficulties by working with multiplier approximations in $L^2(\Omega)$. For each problem class, we introduce the solution algorithm, carry out a thoroughly convergence analysis and illustrate our theoretical findings with numerical example

This thesis first uses physical scale models to investigate solid-state phenomena - surface layer formation, solid-state diffusion of lithium, electrochemical reactions at the solid-electrolyte interface, as well as homogeneous chemical phase change reactions. Evidence is provided that surface layer formation on the magnetite, Fe3O4, electrode can accurately be described mathematically as a nucleation and growth process. To emulate the electrochemical results of the LiV3O8 electrode, a novel method is developed to capture the phase change process; this method describes phase change as a nuclea
