The farming of deer (Cervidae family) has increased globally during the last decades, both in the number of farming operations and the economic output. The increasing interest of consumers in the so-called "freerange products" is reflected in the worldwide development of wild animal farming. Deer are farmed on multiple continents for multiple markets including products such as venison, velvet, urine and antlers. New Zealand is by far the largest exporter of deer meat (venison) and products in the world. Venison equates to 91 percent of the total volume of their deer products exported, however

Abstract:
Over the last few decades, the organic agriculture sector has experienced sustained growth. Globally, as well as in the European Union and Portugal, organic production accounts for just under 10% of total Utilised Agricultural Area (UAA) (FiBL, 2019; Eurostat, 2019; DGADR, 2019; INE, 2019; GPP, 2019). This growth has been seen in terms of production, number of producers, amount of retail sales, imports and exports. This article attempts to build on the multi-level perspective (MLP) of the socio-technical (ST) transitions theory by employing a whole systems analysis (Geels, 2018) of organic agr

This report presents the results of case studies on nontraditional agricultural exports in Petrolina-Juazeiro (northeastern Brazil), Ecuador, and Guatemala, analyzing the role of public policy in developing these products and the effects of nontraditional agriculture on the rural poor. The studies showed that the State played a central role in developing nontraditional export crops. This included an array of economic and sectorial policies in support of market functioning and private sector development, as well as active and strategic intervention aimed at solving specific problems. Abstract:
This paper analyzes the asymmetries and complementarities between Brazil's and China's agricultural sectors. Brazil and China are key players in world agriculture. Both countries are among the world's top five producers and exporters of agricultural products and have a significant portion of their population working in agriculture. However, four significant facts profoundly differentiate Brazilian and Chinese agriculture. First, while Brazil has one of the world's most liberal agricultural sectors, Chinese agriculture remains under strong state intervention, particularly in its foreign trade.
