The conventional mechanical flocculator consisting of paddles and other mechanical equipment such as a gear box, revolving foot-bridge etc. and requiring electrical energy for operation is not suitable for rural areas of developing countries. Hence four models of static flocculators which do not involve any moving parts or mechanical equipment and do not require electrical energy for operation were fabricated and tested for hydraulic properties such as dead space and short circuiting. The relative performance of the four models was tested for four turbidities and rates of flow.

Titanium (Ti) foams of different densities 1622-4100 Kgm-3 made by a powder sintering technique were studied as to their structural and mechanical properties. The foams were tested under static and dynamic loading. The material was tested quasi statically and dynamically under strain rates in the range of 0.001-2500 s-1 and under different loading modes. It was found that strain rate sensitivity is more pronounced in lower density foams. Experiments were complimented by virtual testing. New trends such as the internet-of-things and smart homes push the demands for energy-efficiency. Choosing energy-efficient hardware, however, often comes as a trade-off to high-performance. In order to strike a good balance between the two, we propose software solutions to tackle the performance bottlenecks of small and energy-efficient processors. One of the main performance bottlenecks of processors is the discrepancy between processor and memory speed, known as the memory wall. While the processor executes instructions at a high pace, the memory is too slow to provide data in a timely mann

Memory wall is becoming a more and more serious bottleneck of the processing speed of microprocessors. The mismatch between CPUs and memories has been increasing since three decades ago. SRAM was introduced as the bridge between the main memory and the CPU. SRAM is designed to be on the same die with CPU and stores temporary data and instructions that are to be processed by the CPU. Thus, the performance of SRAMs has a direct impact on the performance of CPUs. With the application of mass amount data to be processed nowadays, there is a great need for high-performance CPUs. Abstract:
These are the notes and comments summarizing the incomplete work to assess stresses on vintage pipelines due to soil loadings. The work was performed by C-FER Technologies, Battelle Memorial Institute, and Marina Smith. The overall objective was to develop an assessment tool that would allow pipeline engineers to evaluate the safety of shallowly buried pre-1970 pipelines under static and cyclic surface loads. The work completed includes the development of a dynamic model. However, the weld capacity models were never completed. Related documents (attachments can be found in the links below).
