ZusammenfassungFür den Zeitraum von 2000 bis 2009 wurden für Deutschland die Entwicklung der Bevölkerung, der Hüftfrakturen und deren Inzidenz aus dem Register des Bundesamtes für Statistik ermittelt. Neben der Betrachtung in der Gesamtbevölkerung fanden Analysen in der Osteoporose-Risikopopulation und hier in drei Altersgruppen von 50 bis 64 Jahren, von 65 bis 79 Jahren und über 80 Jahren statt. Die Anzahl der Hüftfrakturen in der Gesamtbevölkerung Deutschlands ist im betrachteten Zehnjahres-Zeitraum (2000 bis 2009) von 104 886 auf 122 307 (+16,6 %) angestiegen. A traditional two dimensional (planar) statistical analysis was used to identify the clustering types of North Central Texas traffic fatalities occurring in 2001-2006. Over 3,700 crash locations clustered in ways that were unlike other researched regions. A two dimensional (x and y coordinates) space was manipulated to mimic a one dimensional network to identify the tightest clustering of fatalities in the nearly 400,000 crashes reported from state agencies from 2003-2006. The Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP) was established after the Marmara Earthquake to share the deficit in the budget of the Government. AbstractThe contours of international protection in EU member states are mainly determined by three elements: the 1951 Refugee Convention and the EU Common European Asylum System (CEAS), alongside international human rights law, including the 1950 ECHR (Chap. 10.1007/978-3-030-69441-8_3). While Germany and Italy are bound by the CEAS recast instruments, the UK has remained only bound by the 2003 Reception Directive, 2004 Qualification Directive and 2005 Procedures Directive. Yet, this and other type of legislative options do not, in themselves, necessarily produce considerable variations across the EU (Querton 2019), as many other factors contribute to different degrees of policy variation between EU member states. Amongst these factors, it is worth considering in particular geographical location, political context and internal governance structure, further contextualised by the statistics available.

Abstract In recent years, Latvia has established itself as one of the top two countries with the most intensive emigration among EU/EFTA member states. This chapter starts by describing the demographic context and the scale of emigration post-2000, followed by a brief history of the main population flows (migration, refugees and deportation) from and to Latvia in the twentieth century. It then offers a more detailed analysis of emigration during the first 15 years of the twenty-first century including a closer look at the four waves of recent emigration: (i) the pre-EU accession wave, 2000–2003; (ii) the post-accession wave, 2004–2008; (iii) the crisis-driven wave, 2009–2010; and (iv) the post-crisis wave, 2011–2016. For each wave, description of the economic and social context is given within a conceptual framework using insights from human capital theory, the new economic theory of migration, network theory and migration systems theory. Institutional factors are also emphasised. Together with some survey-based evidence, this leads to a set of hypotheses about the nature of the four emigration waves. Our own compilation of data from receiving countries (which reveals problems with Latvia’s official migration statistics) is used for documenting the dynamics of the scale and main destinations of this emigration. Empirical analysis of the changes in the reasons for and intended duration of emigration, its effects on the structure and demographic potential of the population and changes in emigrant profiles and selectivity with respect to human capital and ethnicity is based on a number of independent data sources, including the Latvian Labour Force Survey (2000–2015), the Database of Immigrants in OECD Countries (DIOC 2010/2011), and The Emigrant Communities of Latvia survey conducted worldwide in 2014.

Bei den Herkunftsmärkten ist Deutschland das wichtigste Land. Bei den Gästen aus dem Inland, die den zweitwichtigsten Herkunftsmarkt für den Wientourismus darstellen, zeigen die aktuellsten Statistiken aus 2018 ein deutliches Plus von 6 % bei den Nächtigungen im Vergleich zu 2017. Mit größerem Abstand finden sich danach die USA als Herkunftsmarkt auf Platz drei für Wienreisen (MA 23 Dezernat Statistik Wien 2018b).
