Abstract:
The most famous of Henri Beyle's pseudonyms is Stendhal, but it is only one of hundreds adopted by Beyle. I argue that his pseudonyms fall into three categories: those used in personal correspondence to strengthen affective bonds, those used for publication and thus for entry into the literary market, and those developed in the creative process and reserved for private use. The pseudonym Stendhal belongs to the second group, which is characterized by Beyle's attempt to co-opt the prestige of particular predecessors (in this instance, the art historian J. J. Winckelmann, from the village Stendal). The pen names Mocenigo and Dominique are significant examples of the third group, which most closely resembles the Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa's heteronyms and heralds a modernist vision of authorship.

Abstract:
During the past decade the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) has carried out two major resource evaluations in the Precambrian basement terranes of South and West Greenland in order to locate potential areas of mineral deposits (Steenfelt et al. 2000, 2004; Stendal & Schønwandt 2003; Stendal et al. 2004). Based on geological field work and geochemical and geophysical data, these evaluations have assessed the interplay between the magmatic, tectonic and metamorphic evolution in the study areas and their mineralising events. As a result of the second of these evaluations it is now possible to outline a succession of mineralising events in the northern part of the Nagssugtoqidian orogen and in the Disko Bugt area of central West Greenland (Fig. 1), and relate them to the general Archaean and Palaeoproterozoic geological evolution of this region. However, uncertainties still exist concerning the age and detailed setting of many epigenetic mineralisations.

Abstract:
In 2003, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) completed a four-year project aimed at assessing the mineral potential of the Precambrian region of West Greenland between latitudes 66° and 70°15´N. The project was part of a contract between GEUS and the Ministry of the Environment, and involved compilation of existing geoscientific data, new geological mapping, field examinations of known and potential mineral occurrences, new chemical and isotope analyses, and data interpretation. The data compilation, available on a DVD (Schjøth et al. 2004), comprises regional, systematically acquired data sets presented in a Geographic Information System environment. Aeromagnetic, aeroradiometric, stream sediment and rock geochemical and gravity data, a digital elevation model and a satellite image are included, plus descriptions of 60 mineral occurrences. Evaluation of the mineral potential is based on interpretations of the compiled information as well as on earlier investigations by the Survey, the University of Copenhagen and commercial companies (see e.g. Stendal & Schønwandt 2003; Stendal et al. 2004). From an economic point of view, the potential for gold and diamonds is the most interesting in the investigated area. This paper summarises the evaluation of the gold potential; results of diamond-related investigations are reported separately (Jensen & Secher 2004, this volume).

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The SUPRASYD project is a reassessment of the geotectonic setting and mineral potential of the Lower Proterozoic Ketilidian orogenic belt in southern Greenland (previously described by Allaart, 1976 and Kalsbeek et al., 1990), and in particular its supracrustal rocks. During the first field season in 1992 a geological and geochemical reconnaissance programme was carried out in South-East Greenland between approximately latitudes 60° to 62° N, mainly in areas with supracrustal rocks (Steenfelt et al., 1992; Nielsen et al., 1993; Chadwick et al., 1994a). The second season in 1993 focused on the southern part of the Julianehab batholith on the west coast of South Greenland, as well as on shear zones with spatially associated gold mineralisation (Garde & Schonwandt, 1994; Chadwick et al., 1994b; Stendal et al., in press). Field work from the early 1960s was re-evaluated and supplemented with new mapping with the aim of compilation of the 1: 100 000 scale map sheet 60 V.3, Sondre Sermilik.

Abstract:
Nonadherence is a growing issue in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Many factors are known to influence nonadherence, but little is known about the influence of quality of life (QoL). Detailed clinical data were obtained from 164 patients with PD using the Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire-39 (PDQ-39) and the German Stendal Adherence with Medication Score (SAMS). Descriptive statistics were used to identify reasons for nonadherence, and multivariable linear models were used to study associations between QoL and clinical parameters as well as nonadherence. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) were used to study the effect of the SAMS on PDQ domains and other medical covariates. The results showed that 10.4% (n = 17) of patients were fully adherent, 66.4% (n = 109) were moderately nonadherent, and 23.2% (n = 38) were nonadherent. Nonadherence was associated with male gender, lower Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score, higher non-motor symptoms questionnaire (NMS-Quest) score, greater number of medications per day (an indicator of comorbidity), and higher Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) score. QoL was correlated with male gender, lower MoCA score, higher NMS-Quest score, more comorbidities, and higher BDI score, but was not correlated with nonadherence.

Abstract:
Background. Medication is often changed after hospital discharge in people with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Objective. This observational study aimed to describe changes in PD medication after discharge and explore their association with self-reported adherence and clinical parameters. Methods. During hospitalisation sociodemographic characteristics, the Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified PD Rating Scale for motor function (MDS-UPDRS III), Hoehn and Yahr (H&Y) stage, levodopa equivalent daily dose (LEDD), Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II) score, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score, nonmotor symptoms questionnaire (NMSQ), and Stendal Adherence to Medication Score (SAMS) were collected in 125 people with PD. A semistructured interview was conducted 1 month after discharge to determine the extent and reasons for medication changes. Results. Thirty-eight patients (30.4%) changed their PD medication after discharge. Most changes (20.8%) were performed by physicians while 9.6% of patients changed their medication by themselves due to side effects, missing effect of the medication, missing knowledge about the indication, running out of medication, or nonspecific reason. This led to decreased doses while changes by physicians resulted in both increase and decrease of doses as well as new drug prescription. Patients without changes, patients with changes performed by them, and patients with changes performed by physicians did not differ in age, disease duration, MDS-UPDRS III, LEDD, NMSQ, MoCA, BDI-II, gender, marital status, or education. However, patients who themselves made the changes were more likely to be nonadherent according to baseline SAMS. Patients who made changes after discharge had higher SAMS modification and forgetting subscores than patients without changes or with changes made by physicians. Conclusion. Both intended and unintended nonadherence occur in patients who change medication after discharge. The use of an adherence questionnaire during inpatient treatment may help detect patients with higher risk of changing medication after discharge.

Abstract:
Treatment of postoperative esophagogastrostomy/esophagoenterostomy leaks by using self-expanding stents Arnoldas Krasauskas1, Renatas Aškinis1, Saulius Cicėnas1,2, Tamara Tyrina1, Ramūnas Ambrozaitis1, Eugenijus Stratilatovas11Institute of Oncology, Vilnius University, Santariškių str., 1, LT-08660 Vilnius, LithuaniaE-mail: torakalinis@gmail.com 2Vilnius University, Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Rehabilitation, Sport Medicine and Nursing Background: Esophagogastrostomy/esophagoenterostomy leak is a major complication after esophagectomy or gastrectomy and could causes an up to 9 % postopertive mortality. Since 2005, we use self-expanding stents for the occlusion of anastomotic leaks. The objective is to analyse the usefulness of this method for the treatment of anastomotic fistulas. Patients and methods: From 2005 to 2009, 417 esophageal resections and gastrectomies for oncology patiens were made. After gastectomies, there were 2.87% and after oesophageal resection 21.65 % of anastomotic leaks. Twenty-one silicon-covered self-expanding stents were placed for 15 patients: for 4 patients (26.67 %) after Akyama type operations, 7 (46.67 %) after Lewis type operations and 4 (26.67 %) after gastrectomies. For 4 (26.67 %) patients, leaks were complicated with neck fistulas, 2 (13.3 %) with peritonitis, 8 (53.3%) with empyema and tracheoesophageal fistula. The median interval between detecting the fistula and stenting were 17 days (range, 3–60 days). We used silicon-covered plastic or nitinol armed self-expanding stents. For 2 (13.3 %) patients we replaced stents once and for 2 (13.3 %) twice. Results: Postinterventional esophagogram demonstrated full coverage of the leak in 6 (40 %) patients, and 1 (6.67 %) showed only a lower volume flow of the swallowed contrast. In 4 (26.67 %) patients, in the horizontal posistion we observed retrogradic contrast effusion. In 4 (26.67 %) patients, stents were removed on average after 5 days (range 3–14 days) of instability and for 1 (6.7 %) after a volatile situation caused by bleeding from the edges of the fistula. Two (13.3 %) stents moved down to gut, 1 (6.7 %) need laparotomy because it was stuck in the ileum terminale. One (6.67 %) patient came after 1 year with IV° dysphagia. We performed laparotomy to remove the stent and a new anastomosis to treat stenosis. Six (40 %) stents were removed during endoscopic procedures without residual leaks on average after 47 days (range 29–127 days). Conclusions: Silicon-covered self-expanding stent is an effective method of occluding postoperative esophagogastrostomy/esophagoenterostomy leaks. In 11 (73.3 %) of 15 patients, the condition improved because of accelerated healing of infectious complications. 6 (54.5 %) of 11 patients could begin eating next day after the procedure. There were only 2 (13.3 %) stent implantation-related complications. After 6 months and later in good condition 4 (26.67 %) patients had a surgical intervention for the final correction of fistulas-caused complications. Key words: esophagogastrostomy leaks, esophagoenterostomy leaks, self-expanding stents.

Abstract:
The paper deals with biofuel drying process efficiency opportunities.Research was carried out with a special stand and performingexperiments. Experimental rig consists of an ultrasonic generator, ultrasonic transducer, a drying chamber and the humidity, temperature gauge. Tests were used for wood pellets. During theexperiment, they were irrigated with water, dried with hot air andadditionally exposed to different frequency ultrasonic vibrations. The tests results have showed that the convective drying processis combined with the ultrasonic vibrations, the drying time isreduced, which means a positive impact on the ultrasonic process.Studies have confirmed that the effectiveness of convectivedrying method combined with operating ultrasonic vibrationsincreases. Santrauka Straipsnyje nagrinėjamos biokuro džiovinimo proceso efektyvumo didinimo galimybės. Tyrimams atlikti sukurtas specialus stendas ir sudaryta eksperimento atlikimo metodika. Eksperimentinį stendą sudaro ultragarsinis generatorius, ultragarsinis keitiklis, džiovinimo kamera ir drėgmės, temperatūros matuokliai. Buvo tiriamos medžio granulės. Eksperimento metu jos buvo drėkinamos vandeniu, džiovinamos karštu oru ir papildomai veikiamos skirtingo dažnio ultragarsiniais virpesiais. Atlikus bandymus, rezultatai parodė, kad, veikiant konvekcinio džiovinimo procesą ultragarsiniais virpesiais, džiovinimo laikas sutrumpėja. Tai reiškia teigiamą ultragarso poveikį procesui. Tyrimais patvirtintas konvekcinio džiovinimo metodo efektyvumo, papildomai veikiant ultragarsiniais virpesiais, padidėjimas.

Abstract:
e16143 Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in Germany. Colonoscopy is certainly one of the most efficient diagnostic methods in preventing and early detection of colorectal cancer. Nevertheless, acceptance of colonoscopy as a useful screening method among the population in Germany is moderate, with around 22% of those entitled to claim. Methods: In order to better assess the reasons for the low level of acceptance, patients who presented themselves from March 2016 to June 2017 in the General Surgery Clinic of the Johanniter Hospital Stendal were randomly selected and interviewed using a questionnaire. These randomized patients did not suffer from colorectal cancer. The questionnaire asked whether the patients had participated in Colon Cancer Screening and if not for what reasons. Respondents were asked to choose among 8 preselected reasons or give their own. The options for not having participated in colorectal cancer screening were: lack of knowledge about the offer of colorectal cancer screening, fear of the examination, fear of cancer as an outcome, lack of time for the examination, didn't get an appointment for the exam, place of examination is too far away, excessive travel costs, examination makes no sense, and other (free text entry). Results: A total of 238 questionnaires were completed, 235 of which could be evaluated with regard to gender and age. The proportion between women and men was balanced (m 123, w 112). Surprisingly, contrary to expectations, significantly more respondents participated in colorectal cancer screening than not. There were no differences between females and males. The participation rate in colorectal cancer screening was 71%, which was significantly higher than expected. A significantly lower rate was found in respondents ages between 55 to 60 years old, with 41% of men and 67% of women having participated in a colorectal screening. Asked specifically about the reasons why they did not take advantage of the preventive medical check-up, the men of the affected age group (55-60 years) gave: fear of the examination, fear of cancer as an outcome, and examination makes no sense. Conclusions: The results underline the importance of determining why the acceptance of colorectal cancer screening has not yet reached the desired level. Considering and discussing these three main reasons show that there are opportunities to continuously increase awareness of the importance of participation rates in colonoscopy as a screening method for colorectal cancer through target public education.
