The thesis is focused on structural design of machine prototype for 3D print. Used technology is stereolithography. Machine design must be easy to built and low cost. First part of thesis is especially focused on FDM printers, because the design of my printer is more similar to them. Based on systems analysis are defined all parts of printer. Next part of thesis describes SLA technology from which proceed another requirements for machine. Second part contains final structural design of machine including necessary calculations and simulations. Another parts of thesis are focused on control system of printer including software, risk analysis and technical drawings of selected machine parts.

Abstract:
The diploma thesis is related to the preparation of hydroxyapatite complex structures by additive manufacturing known as Lithography based ceramics manufacturing – LCM. A photosensitive suspension containing hydroxyapatite particles was used for 3D printing of ceramic complex structures. The influence of printing parameters on the resulting macrostructure, microstructure, density, and dimensional accuracy was evaluated. The aim was to obtain ceramic components without delamination of the layers and optimise following post-processing steps (cleaning and thermal treatment). It was found that the exposure time has a significant effect on the dimensional accuracy of printed parts. During observation microstructure of printed parts, a microporosity at the interface of printed layers, which can cause delamination of several layers was identified. High-temperature dilatometry showed different temperature of beginning densification process in the longitudinal and perpendicular directions to the layers. That could be an initiation mechanism for delamination of the layers. X-ray diffraction analysis determined a single-phase composition of powder in photosensitive suspension and sintered parts. A commercial product LithaSol 20 was suggested as a suitable cleaning agent and efficiency of the ultrasound field for cleaning was demonstrated. Based on the thermogravimetric analysis an optimized cycle of heat treatment was designed. The optimisation led to time saving (49 hours), while maintaining density, dimensional accuracy and macrostructure of the 3D printed structures.

Abstract:
Stereolithography printing is one of the most popular 3D printing technologies. This printers use a UV light source for photopolymer curing and can be used for a wide range of applications with high precision and excellent print quality. Commercially available printers do not allow the modifications of the optical and mechanical parameters of the instrument. For this reason, a DLP printer has been designed to allow the optical system modifications and thus changing the printing field and resolution. Another advantage is the possibility to modify already designed mechanical parts. The DLP printer has been designed and tested. The recommended printer parameters settings are listed, which are based on the performed experiments.

La sostenibilità, un tema sempre più discusso a livello mondiale, e l’Additive Manufacturing, una tecnologia in via di sviluppo e dalle potenzialità produttive acclarate, sono i principali argomenti oggetto di studio di questa tesi, trattati nei primi due capitoli dell'elaborato. Nel terzo capitolo si sviluppa uno studio che ha come obiettivo individuare una metodologia che consenta di intervenire sul miglioramento degli impatti ambientali in relazione alla specifica geometria e orientamento dei pezzi realizzati con tecnica stereolitografica; un'ulteriore obiettivo della tesi è stato quello di evidenziare che già nella fase preliminare di progettazione è possibile integrare la sostenibilità nel processo decisionale. Infine vengono riportati i risultati e le interpretazioni del modello realizato.

In questo elaborato si presenteranno i risultati di uno studio sperimentale, che mira a determinare l’area di fattibilità di un processo di stereolitografia per la realizzazione di canali di dimensioni micrometriche. L’attenzione è stata focalizza su questo tema per via delle numerose applicazioni che usano i canali micrometrici, per esempio, nella realizzazione dei dispositivi detti lab-on-a-chip, che vengono impiegati in numerosi campi come la sicurezza alimentare, il monitoraggio ambientale, applicazioni farmaceutiche, diagnosi mediche in generale e applicazioni genomiche (l’elettroforesi capillare e il DNA). Obbiettivo di questa tesi di laurea è valutare la capacità di stampare micro-canali dell’ultima versione della macchina stereolitografica Formlabs (Form2), che impiega una delle principali tecnologie additive. Quindi, si dovrà capire attraverso le variabili di processo, scelte opportunamente (spessore dello strato, valori nominali della larghezza e dell’altezza, ed orientamenti attorno agli assi x e y), la larghezza e l’altezza minime stampabili per avere un canale aperto e continuo, caratterizzato dalle dimensioni desiderate e a disegno. Usando dei provini opportunamente preparati, studieremo, in seguito, l’effetto dei parametri di processo considerati sull’errore percentuale misurato sulla larghezza e sull’altezza del canale ottenuto.

Abstract:
L’impiego della stampa 3D in ambito medicale, nell’ultimo decennio, si sta espandendo sempre più grazie al progresso tecnologico e all’abbattimento dei costi di produzione. Nel presente elaborato verranno descritte le tecniche e le applicazioni di stampa 3D in ambito chirurgico. Verranno analizzati i principi di generazione di oggetti 3D, dall’acquisizione dell’immagine fino alla produzione di un oggetto tridimensionale. Si continuerà con la descrizione delle principali tecniche di fabbricazione di modelli 3D, in particolare la stereolitografia STL (StereoLithography Apparatus), per poi arrivare alle principali applicazioni mediche. Si esamineranno i modelli di stampanti 3D più utilizzati in ambito medico e saranno approfondite le applicazioni della stampa 3D in neurochirurgia e in urologia per il tumore alla prostata. I principali vantaggi, nell’utilizzo della stampa 3D in ambito medicale, sono stati riscontrati nella formazione medica, nella preparazione operatoria, nella comunicazione medico-paziente e nella riduzione del tempo d’intervento chirurgico. Lo svantaggio principale da superare per utilizzare maggiormente la stampa 3D è l’abbattimento dei costi.

Abstract:
The dielectric antenna is an interesting alternative to a metallic antenna. This is mainlydue to its low manufacturing cost and the possibility to fabricate complex antennageometry with the aid of additive manufacturing (AM). Sophisticated AM technologyprovides new degrees of freedom in shaping the outer and inner geometry of antennas.This feature can be utilized to optimize various properties of antenna, such as itsbandwidth, radiation pattern etc, while maintaining a compact geometry.This master thesis investigates the possibility of improving the bandwidth of acompact dielectric antenna by modifying its geometry. Specifically, dielectricresonator antennas (DRAs) have been considered here. In this connection, twoembedded cylindrical DRAs operating within 8 GHz-17 GHz frequency band havebeen designed and simulated using Ansys HFSS. For the first design (Design-1), abandwidth (corresponding to reflection coefficient ≤ -10dB) of approximately 63%has been obtained and the second design (Design-2) has a bandwidth (correspondingto reflection coefficient ≤ -10dB) of about 57%. However, in terms of radiationcharacteristics, the performance of Design-2 has been found to be superior comparedto Design-1, mainly due to its symmetrical geometry. Furthermore, the two designshave been compared to an existing compact rectangular embedded DRA. It has beenfound that both Design-1 and Design-2 have comparatively wider bandwidth. Withrespect to the radiation characteristics, the performance of the reference antenna andDesign-2 are similar. While, the radiation performance of the reference antenna isfound to be better than Design-1.
Dielektriska antenner är ett intressant alternativ till metalliska diton. Detta beror delspå lägre tillverkningskostnader men också, tack vare additiva tillverkningsmetoder,på grund av möjligheten att använda komplexa geometrier. De senaste årens framsteginom additiv tillverkning har öppnat upp nya möjligheter vid designen av den externaoch den inre geometrin hos dielektriska antenner. Detta kan utnyttjas till att optimeraolika aspekter hos antennen, exempelvis bandbredd och strålningsmönster, utan attpåverka de yttre måtten.Denna avhandling studerar möjligheten att förbättra bandbredden hos dielektriskaresonansantenner (DRA) genom att modifiera deras inre. Två cylindriska DRA:er,verksamma inom 8-17 GHz, har designats och simulerats i Ansys HFSS. Bandbredderom 63 % för Design-1, samt 57 % för Design-2, erhölls. Trots den första designensstörre bandbredd uppvisar Design-2 bättre strålningsegenskaper, främst avseendeantennens strålningsmönster. De simulerade antennerna har också visat sig hastörre bandbredd jämfört med en redan existerande kompakt, inbäddad DRA. Sett tillstrålningsegenskaper är prestandan hos Design-2 jämförbar med referensantennen,medan design ett uppvisar sämre prestanda.
