Abstract:
Abstract Financial exploitation (FE) is one of the most common forms of older adult mistreatments. The World Bank defines FE as financial violence and the World Health Organization describes FE as financial or material abuse. Both international organizations recognize that FE causes deprivation/neglect leading to physical and emotional injury to victims. Older African Americans (OAA) are disproportionately affected by FE, impacting their health and welfare. A qualitative phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of FE among OAA. A Community Based Participatory Research approach was used to partner with a predominately African American-faith based community. Participant recruitment (n=12) was through community sponsored seminars that included verbal presentations, group discussions; individual surveys, Older Adult Financial Exploitation Measure (OAFEM). OAFEM data was analyzed to identify risks. Analysis of the interviews included Open and Axial coding, and data categorization. Using NVivo, Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen analysis as modified by Moustakas, five themes emerged.

Abstract:
Background: The progress of the fight against HIV is highlighted by significant change. HIV of the past is different from HIV of the present. Healthcare services have played an essential role in achieving the optimal goals needed to end the HIV epidemic. However, people living with HIV and those at risk of catching it (PLWH) often misunderstand the rapid growth of HIV healthcare service options. Objective: This study aimed to explore the experiences of PLWH in the healthcare services featured in this study. Methods: A qualitative phenomenological approach was used. Semi-structured interviews were conducted in 2017 with 12 PLWH who engaged with healthcare services in Jakarta, Indonesia, by using a purposive sampling technique. Semi-structured questions were asked which related to their experiences of using the services. Stevick Colaizzi Keen method was used to extract the thematic analysis of the study. Results: The study developed four essential themes of PLWH healthcare use. They were accessibility, availability at all healthcare levels, comprehensiveness of service, and affordability. Conclusion: Providing accessible healthcare services is considered essential by PLWH. It is also pivotal to helping people feel positive about the community-related healthcare services on offer. Nurse-led HIV services must maintain this progress by continuously evaluating the quality-of-service outcomes and promoting the accessibility of the services to the broader population.

Abstract:
The objective of this research is to find out challenges faced by English teachers in the remote area based on school-based management point of view. The method used in this research was qualitative method with phenomenological approach. It was conducted at SMP Negeri1 Wawonii Tenggara, SMP Negeri 2 Wawonii Tenggara, and SMP Negeri 2 Wawonii Tenggara. The total subjects of this research consisted of 3 English teachers who were not native resident of the study location. The data were collected by in-depth interview, observation, and documentation study. The data were analyzed by using modification of Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen method in Creswell (1998). The data analysis indicated that challenges faced by English teachers based on two aspects of School-based management were as follows: (1) challenges faced by English teachers in remote area based on teachers’ role as a teacher/an educator, (2) challenges faced by English teachers in remote area based on teachers’ role in organizing school-based management. The result showed that there were some challenges that the teachers faced namely: inadequate school facilities, lack of parents’ motivation to their children, lack of students' competence, and overburdened with more duties and responsibilities. To overcome the teachers’ challenges were not only the teachers’ responsibility but also the components of school itself, including headmaster, administrator staff, society and students’ parents to realize their role in School-Based Management and work together with good coordination to get the purpose of implementing School-Based Management.

Abstract:
AbstractBACKGROUND: Perinatal loss occurs due to the death of a fetus at the age over 22 weeks and the death of newborn babies up to 28 days of life. Acute grief defined as response of grief that occurs at four to six weeks immediately after the events of fetus/ baby death and is considered as a normal response. Acute grief experience which is not managed properly will increase the vulnerability of women to experience attachment disorder on subsequent pregnancies as well as psychological disorder.OBJECTIVE: This study aims to explore the experience of acute grief on mothers with perinatal loss and their efforts to manage the grief responses.METHODS: Mothers with perinatal loss as a participant were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data saturation in this research was reached in the ninth participant. Inclusion criteria for the study is a) mother with acute grief experience due of perinatal loss, b) the length of perinatal loss was 7 weeks-2 years. Data were analyzed using the modified Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen method.RESULTS: Three themes which emerge in this study are mother experiences various feelings of grief that mixed into one, emptiness after perinatal loss, and spiritual approach is a meaningful coping strategy.CONCLUSION: Perinatal loss has brought the mother to experience acute grief. Spiritual approaches used by all mothers and provide meaningful results for their emotional stability. An active role of health care provider in providing psychological support and counseling is strongly needed to build adaptive koping strategies and improve mother health outcome after perinatal loss.Keyword: perinatal loss, acute grief, coping, spiritual approach.

Abstract:
AbstractObjective:The nursing profession demands knowledge, awareness, and experience regarding the ethnic, religious, cultural, and social constructs involved in patient care. Non-Muslim nurses must have theoretical and empirical insights into treatment methods and caring for terminally ill Muslim patients. In particular, non-Muslim nurses should acquire knowledge of Islamic rules and regulations. They should also be familiar with the unique religious and sociocultural practices that pertain to healthcare practices. Our study aimed to explore non-Muslim nurses' experiences in caring for terminally ill Muslim patients and their families regarding physical, social, cultural, spiritual, and religious practices. The study also sought to investigate the context or situations that influence these experiences as described by the nurses.Method:In this qualitative descriptive study, 10 nurses working in medical, oncology, and oncology/palliative care units in a tertiary care hospital in Saudi Arabia were interviewed. A modified Stevick–Colaizzi–Keen method was employed for data analysis. Results:Three main themes constituted the nurses' lived experiences: family matters, end-of-life practices, and nurse challenges. Cultural values, religious practices, and a family approach to the process of care influenced nurses' experiences. Issues related to an absence of palliative care integration and the unavailability of members in the interdisciplinary team also influenced their experiences. Nurses showed a lack of cultural knowledge of some practices due to a lack of awareness of cultural diversity and the unavailability of formal cultural education.Significance of Results:Provision of culturally competent care at the end of life for Muslim patients in Saudi Arabia requires a thoughtful understanding of religious and cultural practices as well as knowledge of the role of the family throughout the care process. The introduction of a cultural care nursing delivery model that incorporates a cultural education program with Islamic teachings and practices at its core is recommended.

Abstract:
There are various quantitative studies have been conducted both nationally as well as internationally that revealed the effectiveness of social skills training in schizophrenia. However, very few qualitative studies have been conducted to measure the relevance of social skills training in schizophrenia. The present study investigated the effectiveness of six months social skills training program with 5 inpatients chronic schizophrenia, conducted for one and half an hour in a week. Employing phenomenological approach, psychosocial assessment was done on the basis of interviews, observations, role-plays, and work assignments, which was analyzed using Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen Method of phenomenology. The social skills training resulted in decreasing social anxiety and enhancing social functioning as maintaining personal hygiene, significant gain in adherence to medications, making request, expressing feeling, and sorting out problematic issues that sustained up to 18 months following intervention. It has been effective in changing the patient’s behaviors and boosted their capacity to confront problematic situations, but weaker effects were found for auditory hallucination in one of the patients.

Abstract:
Attainment of goals without consideration for the needs of stakeholders remains the focus of leaders. Ethical leadership (EL) studies’ focus on leaders’ perspectives represented a research gap that necessitated this study. Followers are the least researched among stakeholders; thus, this study explored EL from their viewpoints. Stakeholder theory, social learning theory, eudaimonia, and utilitarianism were the conceptual frameworks that guided this study. Twenty participants drawn from followers in a public organization in New Jersey were questioned about their experiences and expectations of EL using open-ended interview questions. Participants with shared experiences were selected based on convenience, snowball, and criterion sampling strategies. With the use of the transcendental phenomenological design, the data collected were analyzed with the Stevick–Colaizzi–Keen method and the two-cycle analysis. Knowledge, exemplarity, and democratic decision making were themes of EL that are relevant to followers. Other themes found in this study, including communication, stakeholders’ well-being, impartiality, honesty, relationship building, responsibility, and humility, concur with extant literature and suggest consistency in the phenomenon. The potential social change implications of this study are an innovative and cooperative work environment, organizational success, and enhanced corporate social responsibility. Organizations and societies may benefit from the inculcation and development of EL in the family, society, tertiary institutions, and organizations through training, mentoring, and the development of an ethical culture.

Abstract:
Regardless of the gap between the demands of the global work environment and the maturity of leaders, minimal research exists on the trend of the practice of mindfulness meditation and the developmental experiences of leaders. Consequently, scholars have little understanding of how an increasing number of leaders experience mindfulness meditation. The purpose of this study was to understand the perceived impact mindfulness meditation had on leader development for 20 manager-leaders who had a regular (at least 3 days a week) mindfulness meditation practice. The primary recruitment strategy included outreach to potential participants affiliated with professionally oriented mindfulness groups on LinkedIn. The main conceptual framework was Day’s conceptualization of leader development. The central research question addressed leaders’ perceptions and experiences of the impact of mindfulness meditation on their development as leaders. A modified Stevick–Colaizzi–Keen data analysis procedure was used in this study. Key results included the identification of 10 core themes and the associated conclusion that leaders who want to contribute solutions to global challenges will have to access more of their potential, which may require engaging in contemplative practices such as mindfulness meditation. The principal recommendation includes the serious consideration of mindfulness meditation by leaders and organizational decision makers of development investments. This study has implications for positive social change, in that a better understanding of how leaders experience mindfulness meditation may provide direction for leaders and organizations about developmental practices that support leadership effectiveness.

Abstract:
Despite an initiative to provide preconception care (PCC) and reproductive life planning (RLP) for all women of childbearing age, many women, especially those with low incomes, are not receiving it. As a result, there continues to be a high rate of infant morbidity and mortality in this population. Furthermore, low income adolescent females have not been adequately studied regarding this phenomenon. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore low income adolescent females' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about PCC and RLP in order to serve them more effectively. Five low income adolescent females, aged 18 to 21, were recruited through criterion sampling and they each engaged in 2 individual in-depth interviews. The health belief model, social cognitive theory, and adolescent affective and cognitive theory were the conceptual frameworks used to develop the interview guide, conduct the interviews, analyze the data, and formulate the recommendations for future studies. Moustakas's phenomenological interview process was used as a guiding framework to prepare and conduct the interviews. Qualitative data were analyzed using Moustakas's modified version of the Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen method of analysis. Findings were that participants (a) had no experiences with PCC or RLP, (b) lacked knowledge about preparing for pregnancy, (c) had negative interactions with medical personnel, and (d) wanted more information about PCC and RLP. Further research is recommended to examine current PCC/RLP practices, conduct additional PCC studies of adolescents, and develop culturally- and age-appropriate PCC programs. Findings from these studies could improve both the lives of the adolescents and the health of their offspring.
