This thesis explored how psychosis stigma affects the psychological wellbeing of young people at risk of psychosis and people with psychosis. Problematic levels of eating disorder (ED) spectrum problems are becoming increasingly pervasive on college campuses, especially among female college students. We hypothesized that benefit finding would moderate the relationship between HIV-related stigma and psychological well-being in people living with HIV (PLWH). 106 PLWH completed an online survey that included measures of demographics, HIV-related stigma, benefit finding, and psychological well-being (depression, anxiety, anger). Results suggest that higher levels of benefit finding offset the negative effects of HIV-related stigma on anger. However, for individuals who fail to find benefits in their illness diagnosis, experiencing stigma may be associated with increased levels of anger.

The literature suggests that adolescents with learning disabilities are more vulnerable to engaging in risk behaviours than adolescents who do not have learning disabilities. Early childhood sleep problems also seem to be a robust marker for substance use in adolescence. The prevalence of sleep problems among adolescents is increasing and is particularly high among those with learning disabilities.
