As far back as 1867, early-modern fashion has been the subject of harsh criticism. In his Critique of Political Economy, Marx referred to fashion as “murderous” and as having “meaningless caprices” (Marx and Engels 1967). The Soviet states certainly recognized the importance of clothing to reflect and inform its citizens of the preferred modest lifestyle. The main purpose of this study is to analyze two specific cases of sartorial resistance in two Soviet societies. Specifically, I will be examining the case of Allerleirauh (1980-89) in East Germany, and the Stilyagi (1940s-1960s) in Soviet Russia. In order to test the differences and similarities in the sartorial subversions, I will analyze a number of primary and secondary documents. There are four forms of primary documents that I will analyze: state-run magazines, periodicals, and photographs (both state-sponsored, and fringe), from the GDR and Soviet Russia. My interpretation— of the visual and textual responses to the youth groups who subverted the sartorial codes of the GDR and in Soviet Russia— has led me to propose two main speculative-conclusions. First, the responses by the government, such as the satirical cartoons of the Stilyagi, reveal the extent to which government officials recognized, and felt threatened by, the potential potency of dress to cause political disturbance. Second, the reactions of condemnation towards the fashionably-dissident makes salient the recognition that visual culture and semiotics in fashion, particularly when the body (as a sort of canvas) is implicated, can yield politically-threatening influence.

У статті наголошується актуальність проблеми зростання психосоматичних розладів у дітей молодшого шкільного віку. Медичні працівники в своїй практичній діяльності постійно стикаються з дітьми, патологія яких «ставить їх у глухий кут» у контексті її подолання, тому що не супроводжується видимими змінами з боку соматичного статусу, які не проявляються й при поглибленому дослідженні, але, в свою чергу, супроводжуються змінами в психологічному стані дитини. Особливої уваги потребує вивчення впливу сім’ї на виникнення психосоматичних розладів у дітей, оскільки незалежно від матеріального достатку та економічного становища, навіть при сприятливих факторах розвитку дитини, неконструктивні стилі сімейного виховання можуть провокувати виникнення психосоматичних розладів. Психіка дитини молодшого шкільного віку характеризується особливою вразливістю та недостатнім критичним мисленням щодо того, що відбувається навколо неї. Будучи членом родини, дитина вступає у певні відносини з батьками, які можуть здійснювати на неї як позитивний, так і негативний вплив. Необхідною умовою для психічного розвитку молодшого школяра є гармонійні стосунки в сім’ї, а саме з батьками. Батьки забезпечують відчуття безпеки в дитини, сприяють засвоєнню нею способів поведінки та реагування на певні життєві обставини. Отримані результати проведеного емпіричного дослідження дали змогу виявити особливості впливу сім’ї на виникнення психосоматичних розладів у дітей молодшого шкільного віку; з’ясувати рівень знань й уявлення батьків про завдання, зміст і методи виховання дітей; виявити особливості батьківського ставлення до дитини; визначити ступінь задоволеності дітей своїм положенням у сім’ї.

Vassily Aksyonov's novel, The Burn and Allen Ginsberg's poem "Howl" are central to my contention that a direct and palpable link exists between the literary, jazz and underground youth movements existent in the USSR and US in the postwar years. In his novel, Aksyonov uses many devices and literary motifs that do not seem out of place in the work of Ginsberg or other members of the Beat Generation. The groundbreaking poem "Howl" utilizes a similar sense of verbal gymnastics that is present in the writing of Aksyonov. Both pieces make use of aspects of the carnivalesque, the grotesque, the medieval concept of the 'safety valve,' Billingsgate and confessional tone, among others in a sort of Dionysian bacchanal. Central to both movements is a sense of rebellion and reaction towards an increasingly conservative society, as well as a search for truth through the use and abuse of illicit substances. It is apparent that a direct correlation exits between the stuffy and isolationist outlook of postwar America and the stagnation and decline of the Brezhnev era Soviet Union as depicted in The Burn. The characters depicted within are searching for something that the system will not and cannot provide. And like Aksyonov, Ginsberg is also concerned with the concepts of the "high" and the "low" with regards to culture. Both authors teeter between the concepts of beauty and beatification and self- abuse and self-destruction in their quest to find universal truth. The Russian "New Wave" of literature, of which Aksyonov was a prominent member, simply shares too much in common with the Beat movement to be a mere coincidence. In this paper I will detail these many similarities and the possible reasons for them, as well as delve deeper into the connection that both literary movements shared with jazz and the culture that surrounds it, and how these subcultures were able to impact both their respective governments and the generations to come.<br>text
