Abstract:
Movement disorders are a group of syndromes that often arise due to neurological abnormalities. Approximately 40 million Americans are affected by some form of movement disorder, significantly impacting patients’ quality of life and their ability to live independently. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is one treatment that has shown promising results in the past couple decades, however, the currently used open-loop system has several drawbacks. By implementing a closed-loop or adaptive DBS (aDBS) system, the need for expensive parameter reprogramming sessions would be reduced, side-effects may be

This thesis deals with classification of different types of time courses of ECG signals. Main objective was to recognize the normal cycles and several forms of arrhythmia and to classify the exact types of them. Classification has been done with usage of algorithms of Neural Networks in Matlab program, with its add-on (Neural Network Toolbox). The result of this thesis is application, which makes possible to load an ECG signal, pre-process it and classify its each cycle into five classes. Percentage results of this classification are in the conclusion of this thesis.

Abstract:
Deep-brain stimulation (DBS) is increasingly being pursued as a treatment option for a range of neuropsychiatric disorders. When assessing its potential for the treatment of schizophrenia, related animal studies are often limited by the range of measurements that the equipment is capable of. In animals, the combination of DBS with various recording modalities such as local-field potential (LFP) recording has traditionally required complex and time-consuming laboratory setups. Furthermore, the elucidation of neural activity underpinning rodent behaviour has traditionally been hampered by the us

Hypothesis: The following hypotheses were tested: 1. Suppression, depression or facilitation is related to seizure onset area. 2. The removal of the cortex showing suppression, depression or facilitation is associated with better surgery outcome. Methods: A total of 79 patients with intractable focal epilepsy in whom intracranial electrodes were implanted for assessment prior to epilepsy surgery were anal

The oncofetal protein Migration Stimulating Factor (MSF) is a truncated isoform of human fibronectin which exhibits numerous bioactivities that are pertinent to cancer progression. The MSF protein (70kDa) has potent motogenic activity, with only femtomolar concentrations required to produce half-maximal. The proteolytic degradation of MSF generates the functionally equivalent 43kDa Gel-BD domain and 21kDa IGD peptide. The screening of conditioned medium (CM) for bioactivity revealed two sources of MSF-inhibitory (MSF-I) activity; the spontaneously immortalised human keratinocyte cell line (HaC

Transkranijinė magnetinė stimuliacija (TMS) – tai modernus neinvazinis vaistams rezistentiškų psichiatrinių sutrikimų gydymo būdas. Fiziologiniai TMS tyrimai pasižymi įvairiais, dažnai prieštaringais rezultatais, daugeliu atvejų didžiausias dėmesys skiriamas betarpiškiems poveikiams po vienos TMS procedūros, bet ne po pilno terapinio kurso. Manoma, kad rezultatų įvairovę TMS praktikoje įtakoja skirtingi stimuliacijos parametrai ir netikslumai parenkant stimuliuojamą zoną smegenyse. Nors TMS terapija dažnai traktuojama kaip švelnesnė alternatyva elektros impulsų terapijai (EIT), palyginamųjų fi
