Abstract:
Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) have been demonstrated as a promising candidate in drug delivery applications. With the ambition of enhancing their drug loading capacity and controlled release, in this innovative study, MSNs were tailored with polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers thereby exerting advantageous properties onto the surface of the nanoplatforms. MSNs were prepared by Stöber’s method, sequentially functionalised by amine groups, and respectively grafted with PAMAMs layer-by-layer. Morphology and characterisation of the nanoparticles were carried out through transmission electro

Since the end of 2019, COVID-19 pandemic caused by the novel SARS-CoV-2 has become a serious problem for the world. Accurate and rapid techniques in testing and tracing are needed to control the virus spreading. Molecular diagnostics through gene amplification techniques, especially PCR, still become the gold standard for SARS-CoV-2 detection, which requires the first step of RNA extraction and purification. The limitations of commercial RNA extraction-purification kits during the pandemic caused a big problem in testing and tracing, especially for developing countries. A simple RNA extraction

Magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by the coprecipitation method. Additionally, two composites of silica-coated magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by the Stöber method. The synthesized nanocompounds were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The magnetite nanoparticles have a single crystalline phase corresponding to the cubic spinel structure. The magnetite nanocompound is formed by faceted nanoparticles with a mean size of 9 nm, while the composites consist mainly of aggregates of magnetite

Ceria-based mixed oxides have been widely studied in catalysis due to their unique surface and redox properties, with implications in numerous energy- and environmental-related applications. In this regard, the rational design of ceria-based composites by means of advanced synthetic routes has gained particular attention. In the present work, ceria–titania composites were synthesized by four different methods (precipitation, hydrothermal in one and two steps, Stöber) and their effect on the physicochemical characteristics and the CO oxidation performance was investigated. In this work, we report a facile one-pot synthesis of silica nanoparticles (SiO2NPs) than the classical Stöber method, involving sodium metasilicate as a cheaper Si source than TEOS and shorter reaction times under neutral reaction conditions at room temperature. A multi-technical characterization of the SiO2NPs (XRD, FTIR, UV-vis DR,TEM, Z-potential, and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms at 77 K) evidenced the formation of spherical NPs, with a polydisperse nature, negatively charged surface, and porous structure. A metric to assess the “greenness” of the proposed SiO2NPs synthesis allows to
