Nearly 300 Master Gardeners (MGs) who stopped volunteering were surveyed as to why they did not continue in the program. The fivequestion survey was mailed to people who had not turned in volunteer hours for the previous two years. Forty-seven percent or 131 useable surveys were returned and tabulated. A majority of the respondents, 73 (56%), indicated “no time” as the primary reason for not volunteering. Illness or personal reasons accounted for 30 responses (23%), and 20 people (15%) indicated they were disappointed in the program. Eighty-one percent rated the program as excellent or good; 7

And shouldn't we finally stop wasting our time on it?Before buying into that conclusion, I want to point out a largely untapped source of reasons for being moral. Abstract:
Since Holmes’ founding statement for translation studies in 1972, four decades have passed. During that time some trends seem to have developed in the discipline, and it is time to stop and take stock. This paper touches upon issues essential to understanding translation studies today, such as (1) the nature of translation; (2) the research scope of translation studies; (3) interdisciplinary orientation and its implications; (4) research methods; and (5) the relationship between translation theory and practice. An examination of these issues indicates that the discipline of translation studies

Abstract Introduction Sleep disruption is common among hospitalized patients due to psychological, physiological, and environmental reasons including illness, pain, anxiety, invasive interventions, frequent monitoring, and stimuli, especially noise and light. The AASM has published guidelines for the use of actigraphy in the outpatient setting, but there is a paucity of literature evaluating the validity of actigraphy in inpatients. The aim of this study is to evaluate sleep in hospitalized general medicine patients undergoing sleep medicine consultation using actigraphy and qualitative survey

Introduction: The outcome of patients (pts) with myelofibrosis (MF) who discontinue ruxolitinib (RUX) is poor with scarce therapeutic possibilities (Palandri et al, 2020). However, some evidences suggest that pts may respond to a rechallenge of RUX after drug stop (Gerds et al, 2018). Aims: To investigate in a real-world context: 1) frequency and reasons for rechallenge; 2) therapeutic effects of rechallenge; 3) impact of rechallenge on overall survival (OS) Methods: After IRB approval, a clinical database was created in 20 European Hematology Centers including now retrospective data of 703 MF

The Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA) could not be set up in the way and time the US-Government firstly wanted. Among others, one of the main reasons was the wide spread network resistance that involved trade unions, social movements and grass roots organizations from North and South America, who worked together to pressure their governments to stop negotiations. A new space for action has emerged in the last few years with the election of left-wing Presidents in South America, converging interest of governments with demands from social movements to overcome neoliberal regional integ

INTRODUCTION Conventional publicly funded out-patient services in many specialties are characterised by delays, fragmented diagnostic processes, and overloaded clinics. This is bad for patients as it is clinically dangerous; bad for managers who spend hours managing the failure; bad for doctors who respond by overloading clinics; and bad for purchasers who have to fund the multiple out-patient visits needed. Sound clinical and financial reasons exist for introducing more efficient diagnostic processes. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 330 consecutive patients referred to the urology department

Coking characteristics of China RP-3 under high temperature (above 650°C) and long-duration (20 minutes) conditions, especially the effects of temperature, pressure, and inner diameter of cooling channels on coking amount were experimentally investigated. Temperature of kerosene in experiments varied from 650°C to 730°C, pressure varied from 1.8MPa to 3.5MPa, and the mass flow rate was approximately 120g/min. Results showed that temperature has a significant influence on coking amount. Even a small increment of temperature induces remarkable coke formation. However, pressure and inner diameter

This paper examines some determinants of international migration in Nigeria using annual time series data spanning the period 1991–2011. Using ordinary least square regression method, the results indicate that the level of unemployment, migrants’ remittances and population growth are the key determinants of emigration from Nigeria to other countries, statistically significant at 0.01 level. In a country where unemployment rate is very high, this movement is likely to help in reducing pressures on the labour market. Migrants’ remittances might also help in alleviating poverty within households.

Many factors influence the success of a course of treatment prescribed by a veterinary surgeon. Even if the correct diagnosis is made and the most effective treatment prescribed, the therapeutic outcome may not be optimal if the owner does not administer the medication as prescribed. Some pet owners will give all the medication prescribed for their pets at the correct time intervals. Others may miss doses, give doses at the wrong time, and/or stop treatment prematurely.
