A data center has hundreds of servers and storage devices running on virtual machines that can be deployed and migrated over servers as per the requirement. Using a dedicated storage system like a storage array, it possible to collectively monitor and manage such a network. A storage area network is essentially a network dedicated to storage devices. Storage area networks (SANs) are one of the prevalent reliable data storage solutions. However, cascading failures triggered by data overloading have become a major threat to SANs, preventing the desired quality of service from being delivered to users. Based on our preliminary works on studying the impacts of data loading on the reliability performance of SANs, this paper advances the state of the art by implementing node degree-based load redistribution strategies to enhance the SAN reliability, thus mitigating or even preventing the occurrence of cascading failures during the mission time.

This means that the same file, often in multiple versions, is saved and stored many times, resulting in excessive storage. Vertiport research and development trails in the emerging commercial air taxi sector known as Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). Published scholarship remains limited as federal, state, and local governments have yet to create or implement policies for the rapidly progressing larger AAM ecosystem, which is designed around autonomous electric vehicle takeoff and landing aircraft. With the potential for frequent low altitude flights, long-range planning must demonstrate awareness, knowledge, and utilization of geographic information science to select safe and just vertiport locations. Abstract:
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">With the increased use of devices requiring the Internet of Things (IoT) to enable “New Mobility,” the demand for satellite-enabled IoT is growing steadily, owing to the extensive coverage provided by satellites (over existing ground-based infrastructure). Satellite-based IoT provides precise and real-time vehicle location and tracking services, large-scale geographical vehicle and/or infrastructure monitoring, and increased coverage for remote locations where it may not be possible to install ground-based solutions.<

Abstract:
Disturbance is a key characteristic of landscapes that significantly influences ecosystem functions such as carbon storage, water storage, and nutrient cycling, as well as ecosystem structure and productivity. This report summarizes disturbance patterns and trends for three national parks—North Cascades National Park Service Complex, Olympic National Park, and Mount Rainier National Park—and adjacent federally protected wilderness areas in the Pacific Northwest. We assessed changes greater than 0.8 ha across a 31-year period from 1987 through 2017 as detected using freely available satellite i

Abstract:
Investing in sustainable, multimodal infrastructure is of increasing importance throughout the United States and worldwide. Cities are increasingly making strategic capital investment decisions about bicycle infrastructure—decisions that need planning efforts that accurately assess the equity aspects of developments, achieve equitable distribution of infrastructures, and draw upon accurate assessment methods. Toward these efforts, this project uses a granular bike network dataset with statistical and geospatial analyses to quantify a bike infrastructure availability score (i.e., bike score) th

Abstract:
Despite increasing recognition of public health and rights issues associated with human trafficking globally and in the United States following the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, there has been limited research on how to systematically strengthen service access for survivors of sex and labor trafficking. The experience of service providers may provide insight into how trafficking survivor responses and service networks function in California’s Bay Area. This study explores provider perspectives on existing service networks and collaboration dynamics, including the barriers to and

A fundamental responsibility of the National Park Service (NPS) is to ensure that park resources are preserved, protected, and managed in consideration of the resources themselves and for the benefit and enjoyment by the public. Through the inventory, monitoring, and study of park resources, we gain a greater understanding of the scope, significance, distribution, and management issues associated with these resources and their use. This baseline of natural resource information is available to inform park managers, scientists, stakeholders, and the public about the conditions of these resources
