Abstract:
In recent years, mobile devices have become relatively more powerful with additional features which have the capability to provide multimedia streaming. Better, faster and more reliable data storage solutions in the mobile messaging platform have become more essential with these additional improvements. The existing mobile messaging infrastructure, in particular the data storage platform has become less proficient in coping with the increased demand for its services. This demand especially in the mobile messaging area (i.e. SMS – Short Messaging Service, MMS – Multimedia Messaging Service), which may well exceeded 250,000 requests per second, means that the need to evaluate competing data management systems has become not only necessary but essential. This paper presents an evaluation of SMS and MMS platforms using different database management systems – DBMS and recommends the best data management strategies for these platforms.

Abstract:
Nowadays, large-scale B2C online shopping platforms tend to move toward a business model that is characterized by large product variety and small amounts. They also cooperate with professional warehouse management providers who offer inventory services to achieve the business goal of fast delivery to consumers. Due to the fact that the merchandise on online shopping platforms is usually sold on consignment, these businesses strive for inventory cost minimization, optimal use of storage space, and efficient inventory management based on differences between product supply and demand patterns. This study establishes an online shopping platform with quick response service capability by employing a systematic simulation method. The replenishment mechanism between the supplier and the platform warehouse is based on vendor-managed inventory methods. An optimal inventory management strategy is obtained through a simulation optimization method for the following three variables: product storage ratio, reorder points, and warehouse capacity. The research results of this study show that by controlling the product storage ratio at fixed warehouse capacity and reorder points, the backorder rate can be reduced from 22.06% to 13.01. If equal attention is paid to product storage ratio, reorder points, and warehouse capacity, the backorder rate can be decreased to 0 and the supply chain costs of the platform can be reduced as well. This clearly indicates that this storage control model provides optimal utilization of the available resources of the online shopping platform and an efficient utilization of storage space to reduce shortages and operational costs and achieve the business goal of quick service.

Abstract:
Problem setting. Digital platforms ensure the digital activity of state bodies and business. They are tools for the digital transformation of socio-economic systems at all levels that implement network management. The functioning of digital platforms is not limited by borders, they can work anywhere. Now the digital platform has become a separate object of legal regulation, which has its own peculiarities and needs to be regulated by law. Analysis of recent researches and publications. Digital platforms are studied in the scientific works of Sichkarenko K. O., Lyashenko V. I., Vyshnevsky O. S., Yarmolenko Yu. O. Target of research. The purpose of the article is to provide a definition of the term “digital platform”, to describe the models of legal regulation of digital platforms, to identify the main problems connected with digital platforms maintaining. Article’s main body. The definitions of «digital platform», that are available in the scientific literature, contain primarily technological characteristics of this phenomenon, while we are interested in the legal features of digital platforms. From the law point of view, a digital platform should be defined as software or software and hardware that provides third parties access to the digital environment, ensures interaction and other activities between participators in order to develop their software or sell their products, works or services. Depending on the type (private or public), digital platforms have differences in legal regulation. A commercial model of legal regulation characterizes private digital platforms. State digital platforms are regulated because of a centralized model of legal regulation. The commercial platform is established by a legal act of a private company. The founder independently solves the basic questions of functioning of a platform. The activity of the platform is carried out on the basis of the acts of the founder, which are joined by all other participants who intend to use the platform. The state bodies establish public (state) digital platforms. The functioning of such a platform is determined by the law regulations of the state of the appropriate level. An authorized state body (platform operator) manages the digital platform. The activity of state digital platforms is limited to the territory of the state. The state digital platform is not for profit, unlike private ones, as it is created in order to increase the efficiency of public services through digitizing the processes of interaction with their consumers. No full-fledged state digital platforms have been created in Ukraine. Legal regulation of digital platforms should be aimed at solving the following problems: collection, processing and storage of big data; storage of personal data of platform users, trade secrets of legal entities; providing user access to the digital platform and non-discrimination in this area; employment regulation through the use of digital platforms; problems of competitiveness and monopoly in the business environment; taxation of the activity of the digital platform operator and the activity of its participants who sell goods or provide services. Conclusions and prospects for the development. The complex nature of the relations that arise within the functioning of digital platforms determines the complexity of the legal regulation of this object, as the activities of digital platforms affect both public (financial, tax) and private law (civil, commercial, labor). This means that the development of the digital economy requires radical changes in the general approaches to the legal regulation of a new type of economic relations.

Abstract:
Collaborative and multicenter studies permit a large number of patients to be enrolled within a reasonable time and providing the opportunity to collect different data. Informatics platforms play an important role in management, storage, and exchange of data between the participants involved in the study. In this article, we describe a modular informatics platform designed and developed to support collaborative and multicenter studies in cardiology. In each developed module, data management is implemented following local defined protocols. The modular characteristic of the developed platform allows independent transfer of different kinds of data, such as biological samples, imaging raw data, and patients’ digital information. Moreover, it offers safe central storage of the data collected during the study. The developed platform was successfully tested during a European collaborative and multicenter study, focused on evaluating multimodal non-invasive imaging to diagnose and characterize ischemic heart disease.

Abstract:
Web-based platforms play an increasingly important role in managing and sharing research data of all types and sizes. This article presents a case study of the data storage, sharing, and management platform Figshare. We argue that such platforms are displacing and reconfiguring the infrastructure of norms, technologies, and institutions that underlies traditional scholarly communication. Using a theoretical framework that combines infrastructure studies with platform studies, we show that Figshare leverages the platform logic of core and complementary components to re-integrate a presently splintered scholarly infrastructure. By means of this logic, platforms may provide the path to bring data inside a scholarly communication system still optimized mainly for text publications. Yet the platform strategy also risks turning over critical scientific functions to private firms whose longevity, openness, and corporate goals remain uncertain. It may amplify the existing trend of splintering infrastructures, with attendant effects on equity of service.

Abstract:
Prospective full-population newborn screening for multiple lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) is currently practiced in a few NBS programs, and several others are actively pursuing this course of action. Two platforms suitable for multiple LSD screening—tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) and digital microfluidic fluorometry (DMF)—are now commercially available with reagent kits. In this article, we review the methods currently used for prospective NBS for LSDs and objectively compare their workflows and the results from two programs in the United States that screen for the same four LSDs, one using MS/MS and the other DMF. The results show that the DMF platform workflow is simpler and generates results faster than MS/MS, enabling results reporting on the same day as specimen analysis. Furthermore, the performance metrics for both platforms while not identical, are broadly similar and do not indicate the superior performance of one method over the other. Results show a preponderance of inconclusive results for Pompe and Fabry diseases and for Hurler syndrome, due to genetic heterogeneity and other factors that can lead to low enzyme activities, regardless of the screening method. We conclude that either platform is a good choice but caution that post-analytical tools will need to be applied to improve the positive predictive value for these conditions.

Abstract:
Fitting platforms of variable freight storage lengths are used for transportation of rails and other cargo up to 25 m long. The use of innovative fixation for transportation on the fitting platforms contributes to enlargement of the range of cargo transported on such rolling stock and establishes conditions for safe transportation of such cargo. To evaluate the effectiveness of the arrangement of long cargo transportation on the fitting platform, this study examines two 25 m long rail transportation options. The transportation option involving two coupled 14.62 m platforms, when the cargo is fixed on the coupled platforms with the standard method is the basic option. The new option involves transportation of the 25 m long rails using 80-feet fitting platforms 25.62 m long at the coupling axes and multiway fi xation sets. A calendar year is assumed as the estimate period. The transported volume is assumed equal for each option, under considering the operating conditions of the calculation unit — one coupling of universal platform (or one 80-feet fitting platform), reducing the financial results to a ton of transported cargo. The value of the annual economic effect for the freight owner (Eyearown) is determined as the change of the freight owner’s expenses due to usage of the new option relative to the basic transportation option. The economic assessment of the transportation is performed considering the interests of each member of the transportation process and tested based on specific data. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of implementation of the technical and technological solution under consideration.

Abstract:
In order to address the intermittency of offshore renewable energy sources, a novel form of compressed air energy storage integrated within a tension leg platform is proposed. The energy storage concept involves a hydro-pneumatic accumulator. The objective of this study was to investigate the variation in the physical and hydrodynamic characteristics of a hypothetical full-scale prototype of the proposed system. The design was developed so as to analyse the effect on said characteristics of the tension leg platform diameter and the inner diameter of the umbilical connecting the floating and seabed-mounted compressed air chambers. Results indicate that better hydrodynamic behaviour was observed for smaller diameter tension leg platforms, whereby the resulting motion became more restrained. Moreover, the dynamic characteristics were observed to indicate marginal improvement for increasing inner diameters of the pneumatic umbilical.

Abstract:
: The cost-effective production of high-quality and biologically active recombinant molecules especially proteins is extremely desirable. Seed-based recombinant protein production platforms are considered as superior choice owing to lack of human/animal pathogenic organisms, lack of cold chain requirements for transportation and long-term storage, easy scalability and development of edible biopharmaceuticals in plants with objective to be used in purified or partially processed form is desirable. This review article summarizes the exceptional features of seed-based biopharming and highlights the needs of exploiting it for commercial purposes. Plant seeds offer a perfect production platform for high-value molecules of industrial as well as therapeutic nature owing to lower water contents, high protein storage capacity, weak protease activity and long-term storage ability at ambient temperature. Exploiting extraordinarily high protein accumulation potential, vaccine antigens, antibodies and other therapeutic proteins can be stored without effecting their stability and functionality up to years in seeds. Moreover, ability of direct oral consumption and post-harvest stabilizing effect of seeds offer unique feature of oral delivery of pharmaceutical proteins and vaccine antigens for immunization and disease treatment through mucosal as well as oral route.

Abstract:
Abstract Platform as a service model has certain obstacles, including data lock-in. It is expensive and time-consuming to move data to the alternative providers. This paper presents data storage options in platform as a service offers and identifies the most common data portability problems between various commercial providers of platform as a service. There are differences among their storage models, data types, remote APIs for data manipulation and query languages. Representing data models of platform as a service and data mappings by means of ontology can provide a common layer to achieve data portability among different cloud providers.

Abstract:
Collocated data processing and storage are the norm in biological computing systems such as the mammalian brain. As our ability to create better hardware improves, new computational paradigms are being explored beyond von Neumann architectures. Integrated photonic circuits are an attractive solution for on-chip computing which can leverage the increased speed and bandwidth potential of the optical domain, and importantly, remove the need for electro-optical conversions. Here we show that we can combine integrated optics with collocated data storage and processing to enable all-photonic in-memory computations. By employing nonvolatile photonic elements based on the phase-change material, Ge2Sb2Te5, we achieve direct scalar and matrix-vector multiplication, featuring a novel single-shot Write/Erase and a drift-free process. The output pulse, carrying the information of the light-matter interaction, is the result of the computation. Our all-optical approach is novel, easy to fabricate and operate, and sets the stage for development of entirely photonic computers.
