Store choice is a decision that a shopper is fairly involved in. It is important for a store to understand this behaviour for developing marketing strategies to attract and keep its clientele. It is found that shoppers choose the store based on many aspects that could be classified as primary and image based. It is also found that the importance of each of these aspects changes with the kind of store the shopper wants to visit. In the Indian context where the shopper does not have much variety in store format, the type of store is recognized by the kind of product the store deals in. The paper

Therefore, it is crucial for managers of grocery stores to understand potential cultural differences in terms of store choice. The issue of customer loyalty is a main concern for grocery retailers. Retailers need to know how loyal customers are to their grocery stores; if some customers are more loyal than others; and, why that would be so. Is customer loyalty due only to how well a store manages to satisfy its customers, or are consumers inherently loyal to a greater or lesser degree? At the root of this issue is the basic question of what "store loyalty" implies. Although the concept "loyalty" is widely used within marketing, there is no consistent interpretation of the term. The aim of this essay is to analyse the story of Alatiel in its philosophical context, comparing the novella with the erotic and ethic conceptions in Middle Ages. From this point of view, it is possible to recognize two models in the story: the first is embodied by the lovers of the young woman and their savage behaviour, which seems to annihilate reason and morals, in line with the comment of Dino del Garbo to Donna me Prega. The second model is proposed by Alatiel, forced to indulge fortune’s will. Around this antithesis Boccaccio develops his narrative technique, switching focalization from Alatiel to her lovers, and again to Alatiel, to debate about one of the most important themes of the whole Decameron: human action between the context created by the fortune and moral choice.

Intense competition and price wars in the retail sector provide the impetus to examine consumer behavior in the retail industry. It has become increasingly important to scrutinize what drives consumer choice of retail stores. This chapter addresses this need and aims to establish the factors that drive consumer retail choice behavior. The empirical setting for the study was five organized Indian retail stores: Easy Day, Big Bazaar, More, Reliance Fresh, and Freshmart. Data were collected with the help of a questionnaire (n=700) in a store-intercept survey. Data were analyzed using multivariate data analysis techniques. A model identifying the variables that predicts retail store choice probabilities was developed and tested. Results establish that atmospherics, merchandise assortment, and customer satisfaction have a significant positive impact on retail store choice. On the other hand, price has a significant negative impact on retail store choice. Implications are discussed.

Consumer responses to attractive offers, both in terms of consumer satisfaction with the decision process and in terms of subsequent store choice behavior, have been analyzed in this paper through a factorial analysis process, conducted in Mexico in reference to consumer choice and decision satisfaction variables. The results suggest that consumer response to attractive offer is driven to a large extent by two factors: the effect of a discount sale on the available options of goods and the degree of store loyalty. Overall, the discussion of results of the four studies presented in the paper demonstrates that consumer response to clearance sales, both in terms of decision satisfaction levels and attractiveness of retails stores, are strongly influenced by the variables of price sensitivity, attractiveness of products, loyalty and perceived value on available brands.

Analyzing the dataset of the German retailer Rossmann through classification and regression tools, this work investigates what store type customers visit more often, what kind of assortment they prefer, and how sales profitability is affected by internal and external factors. Results show a tendency from customers to shop in smaller neighborhood markets rather than in the large shopping centers with extensive assortments, determining an increase in sales productivity in smaller size stores. Using eye tracking, this chapter investigates if the visual attention varies according to the in-store displays message content (price, sensory, and price-sensory). Results show that participants are more responsive to cognitive content messages (price) than affective messages (sensory) alone. Nevertheless, it is demonstrated that participants are prone to devote more time processing in-store displays messages if prices (cognitive stimuli) are combined with sensory messages (affective stimuli), which increases the likelihood of choosing low involvement products. Finally, it was demonstrated that total fixation duration is predictive of low involvement product choice for all home décor products. This study suggests that shoppers might spend more time and effort searching for low involvement products if in-store displays captivate their visual attention and elicit their sensory imagery. Sensory messages can be used by retailers to highlight product intrinsic characteristics. At the same time, they are inducing positive feelings towards low-involvement products.

Abstract:
Safety, emissions, and driver demands all require progressively better automotive fault detection, identification, and recovery (FDIR). Probabilistic diagnostics represents an effective way of improving fault detection and identification even as vehicle complexity increases. This paper presents a method for making decisions based on fault probabilities, so that these advances can enable more effective fault recovery. The decision maker’s goal is to choose a set of actions that minimizes risks resulting from faults, and this requires analyzing the temporal behavior of the faults and actions. Us

Abstract:
Elevator evacuation has been considered in high-rise building evacuation in the world, especially in China. Elevator safety has been widely studied for this purpose and technical standards are also available in different countries. However, it is critical to understand human behaviors in elevator evacuation before elevators can be used in building evacuation. It is expected that social relation (family, friend, classmate, etc.) will play an important role on evacuation behaviors. However, researches are largely missing on social relation and its impacts on movement and behaviors of the evacuee

Abstract:
Conducting polymers are employable as low-voltage actuators, sensors, energy storage and delivery components, structural elements, computational circuitry, memory, and electronic components, making them a versatile choice for creating integrated, multifunctional materials and devices. Here we show one such conducting polymer-based, multifunctional system, derived from the versatility of the conducting polymer polypyrrole. Three functions of polypyrrole (actuation, length sensation, and energy storage) have been individually evaluated and cooperatively combined in the synthesis of a multifuncti
