Abstract:
L'objectif de ce travail est d'apporter une contribution à l'évolution des techniques développées en démonstration automatique et en programmation logique, par l'étude et la mise en oeuvre d'un système de programmation logique : le système STRALOG. Cette thèse propose dans une première partie une présentation des concepts théoriques à la base des systèmes de démonstration automatique : systèmes formels, syntaxe et sémantique de la logique des prédicats du 1er ordre, principe de résolution et une étude détaillée des stratégies de résolution qui ont été développées (correction et complétude des méthodes). Nous avons consacré la deuxième partie de ce travail à un état de l'art des systèmes existants : le langage Prolog, les systèmes "Prolog Technology Theorem Prover" de M. E. Stickel, "Near-Horn Prolog" de D. W. Loveland et le système de D. A. Plaisted. La dernière partie de ce travail est consacrée au système STRALOG que nous avons developpé. Nous présentons les méthodes de résolution mises en oeuvre dans le système. STRALOG utilise des stratégies de résolution basées sur la résolution sémantique et propose des techniques d'optimisation telles que la subsumption, la simplification et la notion d'ordre. Des critères d'efficacité en terme d'espace de recherche et de temps sont considérés. La correction et la complétude de ces méthodes sont étudiées. Nous proposons une comparaison des mécanismes dans STRALOG avec les méthodes appliquées dans les systèmes décrits dans la deuxième partie de cette thèse. STRALOG propose, dans un souci de souplesse d'utilisation du système pour le programmeur et dans une optique programmation logique, un certain nombre de prédicats prédéfinis et notamment un prédicat not qui permet de modéliser un mode de raisonnement révisable. Différents exemples sont décrits ainsi que l'implantation du système. STRALOG a été développé sur station SUN 3/160 en langage C.

Abstract:
LASER is an acronym for 'Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.' 'Zur Quantum Theorie Der Stralung' (Notion of Wavelength) a work by Albert Einstein's, published in 1916, is widely credited with the invention of the concept of spontaneous emission of radiation. Testing with microwaves, Charles Townes created a system in 1953 that allowed this radiation to be amplified when passed through ammonia gas. In 1960, Miaman was the first to introduce laser dentistry and its hard and soft tissue applications. A collimated and coherent beam of light is emitted by lasers.1 Laser is a photon of a single wavelength. Laser emits light by optical magnification. Light is a form of energy produced by electromagnetic radiation which moves at a constant speed by wave motion. The photon or light particle is the fundamental unit of radiant energy. Soft tissue applications include healing of wounds, excision of hyperplastic tissue of impacted teeth, photodynamic therapies for tumors and removing restoration, prevention of caries, bleaching, curing, dentinal hypersensitivity, preparation of cavity, growth modulation, and diagnostic needs are among the hard tissue applications Diode Laser, , Neodymium:YAG, Erbium Chromium:YSGG ,He:Ne and Erbium:YAG (Er:YAG) Laser are the most often used lasers in endodontics. Despite the fact that lasers are somewhat more expensive than traditional therapy, they are an useful tool for increasing the efficiency, specificity, convenience, and comfort of dental treatment.

This paper offers a critical edition and a literary discussion of Claudian, carm. min. 6. Each of the four hexameters of which it consists develops Vergilian materials, namely from two distinct passages in the Aeneid (7.708 and 1.150). The general theme explored by Claudian is that of the improvised ‘weapons’ into which anger turns otherwise innocuous objects. The fortune of the poem, appreciated by both Latin authors and later scholars such as Julius Caesar Scaliger, is also explored.

"This paper presents the work carried out by Applus+ IDIADA on the effect that trailer drag reducing devices have on the overall truck aerodynamic performance, as well as proving the applicability and feasibility of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as alternative approach to Constant Speed Testing (CST) when predicting the changes in CDxA [m2]. Out of all possible solutions for reducing aerodynamic resistance on semitrailers, boat tails and side skirts seem to be the most popular devices nowadays. Other potential drag reduction devices such as vortex generators, trailer diffusers or trailer undertrays have also been identified and are not rare in other markets with a more mature regulation regarding CO2 emissions, such as the United States. For starters, simple and non-commercial shapes mimicking a 400mm boat tail and a short version of trailer side skirts, covering only the side ride protection bars, were manufactured and tested at the IDIADA Proving Ground facilities according to the test procedure described in Annex 8 of the Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/2400 of 12 December 2017. The vehicle configuration consisted of an IVECO Stralis equipped with their Hi-Way Cabin from 2016 and a standard semitrailer “ST1” manufactured by Schmitz Cargobull. In total, four different configurations were tested, consisting of the standard configuration (C00) and its variants: Boat tail (C01), side skirts (C02) and both devices mounted together (C03). This later configuration was also used to identify potential effects when mounting more than one device at a time. Parallel to the experimental approach, the corresponding virtual 3D models were built and simulated with the commercial code STAR-CCM+® by SIEMENS following two different strategies: steady-state and transient approaches. This work shows the potential of virtual tools, such as CFD, proving the accuracy in which not only changes in aerodynamic resistance are predicted, but also absolute drag coefficient values and, as a consequence, opening the door to potential future virtual homologation processes."

This learning paper presents an initial analysis of the emerging research to policy linkages within the Agricultural Policy Research in Africa (APRA) programme of the Future Agricultures Consortium, which is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). APRA has an innovative monitoring, evaluation and learning approach known as the ‘Accompanied Learning on Relevance and Effectiveness’ (ALRE), which is being delivered by a small team of embedded evaluation specialists. This paper discusses how ALRE has applied the COM-B (Capability, Opportunity, Motivation and Behaviour) (Mayne 2018; Mayne 2016; Michie, van Stralen and West 2011) model of behaviour change to explore the interactions and influencing strategies between researchers and policymakers in the context of agricultural policy research in Africa. These insights have produced the Diamond of Influence, a new ALRE-adapted model, which applies each of the COM-B elements to discuss the different aspects of research to policy processes, drawing on examples of how researchers in each of the APRA focus countries (Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania and Zimbabwe) are engaging in policy spaces.
