AbstractBackground:Infection control programs were created three decades ago to control antibiotic-resistant healthcare-associated infections, but there has been little evidence of control in most facilities. After long, steady increases of MRSA and VRE infections in NNIS System hospitals, the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) Board of Directors made reducing antibiotic-resistant infections a strategic SHEA goal in January 2000. After 2 more years without improvement, a SHEA task force was appointed to draft this evidence-based guideline on preventing nosocomial transmissio

Rabies is endemic in Namibia and is present both in wildlife carnivores and domestic free-roaming dogs. The disease thus represents a challenge for public human and veterinary disease control. Namibia has implemented a national strategic plan to control rabies and the country’s activities are supported by international organizations. To this end, rabies diagnosis at the Central Veterinary Laboratory (CVL) was improved in the frame of a World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) laboratory twinning program: from practical sampling techniques and the use of lateral flow devices to a novel unive

One of the main issues encountered is the lack of an optimal surveillance system, which can hinder the rehabilitation process and increase the risk of rule violations. To address this issue, a socialization program for the installation of additional CCTV cameras in the Self-Reliance Development Room at Banyuwangi Class IIA Correctional Facility was conducted. Designing such a system is challenging due to the need for continuous monitoring, raising issues around autonomy, as well as the design of the navigation and command and control systems.
