Abstract:
The presented diploma thesis deals with artworks filed under Bassano's name in National Gallery in Prague. Opening chapters enlarge on those artworks, not to say artworks of Bassano family in area of today's Czech Republic. The life and artistic work of Bassano family is briefly introduced, with focus on Jacopo Bassano as the main personality. Short universal discourses concerning specific issues are taken individually, in relation to particular paintings. The crucial part of the thesis is a catalogue presenting entire collection of Bassano's artworks in National Gallery. The catalogue compounds of several parts: authentic pieces, works from workshop, later copies of artworks, and paintings which don't match Bassanos'author craft. Abstract:
This thesis examines the media coverage and image of the National Gallery in Prague from 2010 till 2013. During this period, in 2011 Milan Knížák was removed from the post of Director of the National Gallery where he was since 1999. He was replaced by Vladimír Rösel, who was dismissed in 2013, Vít Vlnas was designated the director of the gallery in his stead. Jiří Fajt was selected as the Chief Director in July 2013, but he wasn't appointed until July 2014. The main source for research will be relevant articles published in the selected press (Lidové noviny, Právo, Mladá fronta DNES, Hospodářské noviny). The aim of the thesis is to describe and analyze the way the media reported about events related to the management of the National Gallery in Prague. It will try to answer the question why this institution is given such weight and importance as to whether it is related to the concept of "national" in the name of the gallery. This can evoke the connection with other institutions that have this word in the name. There are some expectations connected to this "national" title, but there are also certain responsibilities associated with that. The work will also look at the media space given to the gallery's leadership and how the media express themselves considering this subject. This can fundamentally...

Abstract:
The collection of German and Austrian painting of the 17th and 18th centuries includes over 600 paintings. Out of this number, seventeenth-century painting totals 190 works reflecting the various stages of the development of painting in Austrian and German lands. At the same time, this ensemble mirrors the development of collectorship from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The aim of the textual part of the presented catalogue is to briefly define the turning points in the development of art in Germany and Austria. The catalogue does not want to summarize the history of German art, it rather focuses on some tendencies that are deemed important in view of the artistic contribution of selected painters in the context of the National Gallery in Prague collection. One of the tasks of the catalogue was to revise the circle of works traditionally attributed to 17th-century German and Austrian schools and delimit the group of the paintings included in the catalogue. It is thus divided into three sections, namely: "Paintings by Known Artists", "Paintings by Anonymous Artists", and "Supplements". The last named part contains paintings formerly considered works of German painters. Those are paintings that with all probability came into existence within the frame of other schools, and also copies after models from other...

Abstract:
The target of my dissertation is to draw the character of the graphical works created by Jan Jiří Balzer which are kept in the collections of the National gallery in Prague. The resource of the graphical works of J. J. Balzer according to Norbert Grund includes more than five hundred and fifty items which remained almost non-elaborated. That's why, I would try to sort out and catalogue them. Beyond my dissertation, I would like to introduce a personality of the contemporary artist who is at the time the founder of an engraving plant and a successful businessman - who managed to interest the Czech graphical market of the second half of the 18-th century. As well as, I try to clarify, on base of the critical studying of available sources and literature, the circumstances which lead the artist to the graphical performance of the Norbert Grund's painting works. And last but not least I would like to outline the production of Jan Jiří Balzer in context of the contemporary creation and collecting of the 18-th century.

Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with the life and work of the Dutch painter Geertgen tot Sint Janse in the context of the beginning of Dutch Renaissance. This diploma thesis contains an analyses of Triptych with The Adoration of the Kings from the Prague Castle Collections. In particular, the art influences and the possible inspiration by the work of Albert van Ouwater is discussed. The Adoration of the Kings is an important piece of art not only in the context of Dutch Renaissance painting but also in the context of European Renaissance at the end of 15th century. The rich symbolic apparatus of the tryptich refers to the medieval tradition, but the beginning of illusionism can be recognised from the painting as well.

Abstract:
The National Gallery in Prague conserves an important masterpiece of the Fle- mish mannerist Jan Gossaert. The panel painting Saint Luke painting the Virgin was originally determined for the cathedral of Saint Roumboult in Mechelen in Belgium. The artwork represents one of the first applications of Renaissance style behind the Alps. Gossaert was educated in this new style during a visit to Italy several years earlier and combined it with traditional Flemish art. The artist worked for the court of Margaret of Austria in Mechelen around the year 1513, the year the painting originates. His traditional style became influenced by the techniques used in Mechelen by foreign artists. The theme is painted the tradi- tional manner of work on an oak panel. Renaissance and Gothic architecture is decorated by " en grisaille" sculptures. A seemingly simple theme is given deeper meaning thanks to these objects containing hidden meanings. There are also some prints from the time the panel was in the Saint Vitus Cathedral in Prague due to which we can contemplate the progress in presentation of the painting during centuries. 1
