In order to investigate the influence of removal and mineralization of acetone, the experiments were carried out under various UV light intensity, initial concentrations of reactant, oxygen dosage, retention time and humidity. In order to model the removal of acetone by UV/TiO2 process at various operation conditions, a design equation was developed

"Sources and Decomposition of Dissolved Organic Matter in Desert Streams." Master's thesis, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/2286/R.I.51657.

Abstract:
abstract: Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is an important part of aquatic foodwebs because it contains carbon, nitrogen, and other elements required by heterotrophic organisms. It has many sources that determine its molecular composition, nutrient content, and biological lability and in turn, influence whether it is retained and processed in the stream reach or exported downstream. I examined the composition of DOM from vascular wetland plants, filamentous algae, and riparian tree leaf litter in Sonoran Desert streams and its decomposition by stream microbes. I used a combination of field obser

Tese de doutoramento em Biologia, especialidade de Ecologia, apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra<br>Leaf decomposition is a basic ecosystem process in low order streams, mainly carried out by a particular group of fungi, aquatic hyphomycetes (AH), and invertebrate detritivores. In this thesis, the main goal was to investigate how and to what extent fungal diversity species relates to the stream’s key functional parameter: leaf decomposition. In Chapter 2, I tested the relative importance of substrate quality in the establishment of AH assemblages a

The leaf litter of zuihmachilu(Machiluszuihensis),the common riparian vegetation of the three streams, was used as material for the decomposition experiment. The leaf litter of zuihmachilu was place in the litter bag with two different mesh sizes, coarse mesh with 10mm and fine with 250μm. For coarse mesh bag, the breakdo
