Abstract:
Metabolic Syndrome is continuing to grow worldwide. Indonesia is no exception. High-calorie diets and physical inactivity trigger several pathways involved in metabolic syndrome. These include inflammation and insulin resistance. Associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, and death, metabolic syndrome is important. There is therefore a need for early intervention to reduce the complications of this disease. Striped catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) is one of the freshwater fish farmed in Indonesia. Turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn.) is also widely used in Indonesian food pre

Abstract:
Dietary lipid in the forms of fish oil and corn oil are known as the best lipid sources. An effort to find an alternative to lipid sources other than both forms of oil can be done through the use of ts rubber seed oil. The study was conducted to evaluate rubber seed oil as a lipid source in the diet for increasing the growth of striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) fingerlings. A tested diet having isoprotein (30.14±0.01%) and isoenergy (271.26±0.08 DE kcal/100g) was used in this study. Fish oil, corn oil, and rubber seed oil at a total of 3% were used as the diet's lipid sources. Rubb

Abstract:
Metabolic syndrome is a growing global health problem. Long-term treatment for metabolic syndrome causes side effects. Therefore, the use of nutraceuticals could also be considered. This study analyzed the effect of the administration of striped catfish oil and turmeric extract on tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in metabolic syndrome rats. Metabolic syndrome was induced in rats by administration of high fat fructose diet (HFFD) containing 3 g pork fat (15%), 2 g duck egg yolk (10%), 15 g standard diet (75%), and 2 ml fruct

Pangasius catfish, also known as striped catfish, is a high-fat fish compared to other freshwater fish like snakehead fish and carp. The oil extracted from this fish contains unsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids that are beneficial for health. The quality of the oil is affected by the extraction method, especially the preliminary heating temperature for the extraction. Pangasius catfish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) that have the potential to inhibit inflammation, hyperpigmentation, accelerate skin healing for topical applications, and act as a skin permeation enhancer

The production efficiency of striped catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalmus is very dependent on the quality of feed, which can increase the fish’s growth rate and health condition. Thus, the aimed of this study was to investigate the effects of different levels of Oregano Essential Oil (OEO) contained with thymol and carvacrol, at the concentration level of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4% OEO, which is applied using top-dressing method and included in feed formulation on the growth rate, body composition, digestive health and resistance of striped catfish P. hypophthalmus against the pathogenic bacteria Aero
