Abstract:
<em>Strongylognathus</em> Mayr, 1853 is a Palaearctic genus, comprising 25 ant species, all permanent social parasites, infesting colonies of various species of <em>Tetramorium </em>Mayr, 1855. They have patchy distribution throughout their areas, and most of them are very rare and listed as vulnerable. The taxonomy of the <em>Strongylognathus</em> <em>huberi</em> group needs thorough revision and the results presented below can be considered as preliminary, but possibly useful for future studies.Four species of the socially parasitic ant genus <em>Strongylognathus </em>(<em>S. karawajewi </em>

<strong>Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) of Ligocka G&oacute;ra Kamienna.</strong> The myrmecological inventory of the Ligocka G&oacute;ra Kamienna area revealed 35 ant species, representing 35.4% of the species from Poland, 53.9% of the species from Lower Silesia, and 70.0% of the species from Upper Silesia. The research confirmed the presence of two species that are rare in Poland: <em>Strongylognathus testaceus</em> (Schenck, 1852) and <em>Lasius alienus</em> (Foerster, 1850). The occurrence of stenotopic species associated with xerothermic grasslands was confirmed in the study area.

Abstract:
Morphological examination of Strongylognathus specimens from 14 of 15 known sites in Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco revealed that only one species occurs in that part of the Palaearctic region. S. foreli Emery, 1922 falls into synonymy with S. afer Emery, 1884. Redescriptions of all morphs and allozyme data are provided. Four new records of S. afer are presented from Tunisia which extend the known range in this country to more southerly regions and allow some conclusions on ecological requirements. Observations of slave raids in the laboratory showed that S. afer is a dulotic social parasite usi

Abstract As a result of recent collecting efforts and older unpublished data of one of us (AA), 32 ant species (including 2 morphospecies) new to the island of Sicily (Italy) were discovered. Seven of these taxa represent unequivocally exotic entities, whose discovery marks a decisive increase of this component in the local fauna. Among these, two forms of Nylanderia EMERY, 1906 are treated as morphospecies because of the problematic taxonomy of the genus. Six taxa among the discovered species are entirely new to the myrmecofauna of Italy. Finally, Tetramorium indocile SANTSCHI, 1927 is report

Inventory of ants of the Yeu Island (France) (Hymenoptera, Formicidae). Yeu is a small island located in the Bay of Biscay that encompasses a wide diversity of highly preserved coastal habitats. We provide here a first formal inventory of the ant community found on the island, where we identified 29 species forming an assemblage of temperate and Mediterranean ants at the northern range of their distribution. The presence of species such as Messor capitatus, Aphaenogaster gibbosa and Monomorium carbonarium is discussed, as well as the occurrence of species seldom observed across the western par
