Abstract:
Sorbian National Party / Lusatian Alliance as a National Minority and Regional PartyLusatian Sorbs are the smallest Slavic ethnic group. They live in Lusatia, which is part of the German states of Saxony and Brandenburg. The Lusatian Sorbs engage in political activities at the local, regional, state and national levels. In 2005, the Sorbian National Party (in the Lower Sorbian language: Serbska ludowa strona, SLS) was founded, and in 2010 its name was changed to the Lusatian Alliance (Łužyska alianca, ŁA). The Party’s leader is Hannes Kell. The organisation is both a national minority and a regional party. The Party’s programme includes the introduction of equal status of both German and Lusatian languages within the Sorbian territory, promotion of the Lusatian language in Lusatia, obtaining political autonomy for Lusatian Sorbs, as well as striving for the reduction and eventual closure of open pit lignite mining, which causes damage to the environment and destroys the region’s villages. The Lusatian Alliance desires to hold a democratic election and appoint Sorbian authorities that would have a budget at their disposal to financially manage and oversee Sorbian education.

Abstract:
Agreement of Democratic Parties in the Years 1948-1950 – an Attempt to Consolidate the Milieu of Polish Political Immigration After his arrival to London in 1947, Stanisław Mikołajczyk undertook endeavors to form a national committee, which would be a projection of the World War II quadruple agreement, which brought together Polish Peasant Party (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe), Polish Socialist Party (Polska Partia Socjalistyczna), Labor Party (Stronnictwo Pracy) and National Party (Stronnictwo Narodowe). The creation of the Agreement of Democratic Parties was to be the initial step towards the future cooperation and functioning. Yet the National Party was not interested in such cooperation and the Agreement turned out to be a weak entity, unable to conduct active policy among Polish emigration. Differences between parties proved to be too big a barrier, among others regarding the question of the legality of Polish government in exile. The final blow to Mikołajczyk’s concept was the creation of Political Council by National Party, Polish Socialist Party and the Polish Liberty Movement “Independence and Democracy” (Polski Ruch Wolnościowy „Niepodległość i Demokracja”).

Abstract:
Od wielu lat centralne miejsce w badaniach historycznych poświęconych dziejom emigracji zajmują publicyści, politycy – liderzy stronnictw politycznych bezpośrednio zaangażowani w życiu politycznym „polskiego” Londynu. Bohaterowie oddaleni od Londynu, osiedleni na półkuli zachodniej ustępują miejsca politykom „Polski na Tamizą”. W gronie zapomnianych bohaterów znalazł się osiadły w 1950 roku w Chile ks. Michał Poradowski, który przez 40 lat wykładał na uniwersytetach w Santiago i Valparaiso; był wybitnym teologiem, filozofem, socjologiem, publikował w kilku językach ( hiszpańskim, portugalskim, francuskim, angielskim), był animatorem życia Polonii jako wiceprzewodniczący Związku Polaków w Chile. W latach młodości organizacyjnie związany z ugrupowaniami obozu narodowego, należał do młodzieży Obozu Wielkiej Polski. Na emigracji utrzymywał kontakty z politykami „polskiego” Londynu, m.in.: Tadeuszem Bieleckim – prezesem Stronnictwa Narodowego, publikował na łamach „Myśli Polskiej” – sztandarowego pisma SN. W Chile, Brazylii i Argentynie). Zyskał uznanie jako krytyk ideologii lewicowych, marksizmu i polityki sowieckiej. Nie będzie przesady w stwierdzeniu, że ks. Poradowski był jedynym przedstawicielem polskiej emigracji politycznej, który w znaczącym stopniu przyczynił się do ukształtowania opinii publicznej kraju osiedlenia, któremu udało się uformować profil ideowy elity politycznej Chile. W 1992 roku po raz pierwszy od czasu wyjazdu (1945 r.) przyjechał do ojczyzny, na stałe osiadł w roku następnym, jako publicysta polityczny włączył się do pracy ideowo-programowej ugrupowań narodowo-katolickich. Z myślą o upowszechnieniu idei narodowej sfinansował z własnych oszczędności wydanie kilku broszur m.in.: Katolickie państwo narodu polskiego (1996). Celem badawczym szkicu jest ukazanie charakteru relacji, jakie łączyły ks. M. Poradowskiego z rodziną emigracyjnych narodowców – Stronnictwem Narodowym oraz przybliżenie tych wątków jego myśli politycznej, które wyróżniają go spośród publicystów „Myśli Polskiej”.

Abstract:
Stronnictwo Narodowe było partią polityczną działającą w Polsce w latach 1928–1939. Struktury tej partii funkcjonowały także w okręgu radomskim, który był jednym z 16 okręgów organizacyjnych SN. Partia w pierwszych latach istnienia (1928–1933) tkwiła w stagnacji. Po 1933 r. struktury zaczęły się rozwijać, ponieważ jej szeregi zostały zasilone przez „młodych” działaczy, którzy wcześniej angażowali się w działalność OWP, rozwiązanego przez władze polskie. Najbardziej rozbudowane struktury SN miało w omawianym okręgu, jak również w kraju, w 1936 r. Do 1939 r. niewielka liczba członków opuszczała formację. Okręg radomski obejmował powiaty: radomski, opoczyński, konecki, opatowski, iłżecki i kozienicki. Najbardziej rozbudowane struktury były w powiatach radomskim i opoczyńskim, najsłabsze w iłżeckim i kozienickim. Do najbardziej znanych i aktywnych polityków SN w okręgu radomskim można zaliczyć Stefana Sołtyka i Witolda Borowskiego.

Abstract:
During the interwar period, local press played a major role in the socio-cultural life of the local communities in the Greater Poland region. With the high number of periodicals, the local press had a substantial influence on the socio - cultural life and education in the towns and cities of the region. It played a major educational role. It had an educational influence on the local communities, because the periodicals propagated models and forms of social and family life among them. The political and ideological stance of most of the periodicals was clearly defined as Catholic and national, therefore, the models of social activities that they promoted were consistent with this worldview. In consequence, the press propagated educational principles and ideas on upbringing, models of the family, a wife - mother, a husband - father, and children compatible with Catholic Social Teaching and the ideology of National Democratic political parties (Stronnictwo Narodowe [National Party], Narodowa Demokracja [National Democracy]). The model of the farmers’ families and those of the Middle Class was consistent with the clearly defined National Democratic ideology prevalent among the members of the local communities of Greater Poland, with its deep-rooted Catholicism, and with the experiences (characteristics, qualities) that became established in the times of the Partitions of Poland.

Abstract:
Both in the final period of the Partitions and in the Second Republic of Poland, the majority of the society lived in villages. The countryside appeared to be the main area of the linguistic, cultural and religious diversity. Its daily life was marked not only by economic differences, but also ethnic, denominational and cultural ones, which grew in importance by becoming the crucial elements of the social stratification. A relatively amicable cohabitation of various groups was put to the test during a period of wars and other unrests, when existing friendships were losing their significance and the population was forced to explicitly define themselves in terms of their ethnicity or religion. Based on the programme assumptions and the comments or speeches made by the politicians of Polish Peasant Party (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe) “Piast”, it can be concluded, that the party tolerated only such aspirations of other ethnic groups, which did not involve any attempts to share political power and which expressed loyalty to the state. In the case of Slavic minorities, it was believed that due to effective government’s policy, they might be drawn to Poland or even assimilated, especially the minority of Belarusians. The assimilation programme of the German minority from the Western Borderlands was considered to be futile and with little chances of success. The solution to the Jewish problem was sought in supporting Polish economic and cultural activity, Polish industry, trade and craft as well as liberal professions and cooperative movement. The remaining minorities dispersed in Poland were not even taken into account under the party’s ideological concepts.

Abstract:
Jewish Issues in the Daily Newspaper Słowo Pomorskie in the Years 1938–1939 The article deals with Jewish issues appearing in the daily newspaper Słowo Pomorskie in the years 1938–1939. The newspaper was published in Toruń in the years 1920–1939 and covered the Pomerania Province (Pomorskie Province) at that time. In the article, the political character of Słowo Pomorskie and its importance for local structures of the National Party (Stronnictwo Narodowe) are discussed. The newspaper usually presented a negative image of the Jewish population, which was connected with the antisemitic attitude of the nationalist groups. The author also describes the role of the Catholic clergy in propagating the anti-Jewish attitudes. The antisemitic contents is divided into thematic categories—foreign and domestic issues are separated. The analysis of the newspaper texts shows, among other things, the affinity of the antisemitic views of the National Party with other movements of this kind in Europe. In the Polish context, the hatred toward Jews did not diminish on the eve of the outbreak of World War II, but rather became radicalized.

<p>Artykuł dotyczy postaci Józefa Milika (1891–1944), parlamentarzysty ruchu narodowego oraz działacza społecznego z Podlasia. Na podstawie dostępnych źródeł archiwalnych, statystycznych, opracowań i pamiętników starano się przedstawić biografię polityczną przedwojennego posła Związku Ludowo-Narodowego i Stronnictwa Narodowego w latach 1928–1935. Badaniami objęto także powiązaną z funkcją polityczną działalność społeczną i samorządową J. Milika, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do jego rodzinnego powiatu sokołowskiego. J. Milik był bowiem także członkiem Wydziału Powiatowego i Sejmiku Powiatowego oraz organizatorem życia społecznego w swojej rodzinnej gminie Sterdyń. W ten sposób została ukazana jego droga życiowa, która spowodowała, że stał się jedną z ważnych postaci endecji w skali regionu i kraju, wchodząc m.in. w skład centralnych organów władzy Stronnictwa Narodowego.</p><p>Autor przedstawił również zaangażowanie J. Milika w rozwój struktur konspiracyjnych i działalność w Radzie Jedności Narodowej – parlamencie Polskiego Państwa Podziemnego podczas II wojny światowej. Podkreślił dalszą potrzebę badań zwłaszcza nad tym okresem, którą jednak ogranicza ilość i zawartość źródeł.</p>
