Abstract:
Structures that demonstrate nonclassicality are of foundational interest in quantum mechanics, and can also be seen as resources for numerous applications in quantum information processing - particularly in the Hilbert space of N qubits. The theory of entanglement, quantum contextuality, and quantum nonlocality within the N-qubit Pauli group is further developed in this thesis. The Strong Kochen-Specker theorem and the structures that prove it are introduced and explored in detail. The pattern of connections between structures that show entanglement, contextuality, and nonlocality is explained

Presented in this thesis is a detailed investigation of the optical properties of sets of InGaN/GaN and InGaN/AIGaN quantum well structures, supported by the results of microstructural experiments from the University of Cambridge. The effect of the depth of a single InGaN/GaN quantum well below the sample surface on its optical properties was investigated. Oscillations in the photoluminescence excitation spectra of the samples were observed at temperatures below 50 K and at photon energies above the GaN band gap. These features were attributed to the excitation of electrons at multiples of the

Abstract:
Cantor space, the set of infinite words over a finite alphabet, is a type of metric space with a 'self-similar' structure. This thesis explores three areas concerning Cantor space with regard to fractal geometry, group theory, and topology. We find first results on the dimension of intersections of fractal sets within the Cantor space. More specifically, we examine the intersection of a subset E of the n-ary Cantor space, C[sub]n with the image of another subset Funder a random isometry. We obtain almost sure upper bounds for the Hausdorff and upper box-counting dimensions of the intersection,

Abstract:
Group Representation Theory is the mathematical language best suited to describing the symmetry properties of a structure, and a structural analysis can utilises Group Representation Theory to provide the most efficient and systematic method of exploiting the full symmetry properties of any symmetric structure. Group Representation Theory methods currently exist for the Stiffness Niethod of structural analysis, where the stiffness matrix of a structure is block-diagonalised into a number of independent submatrices, each of which relates applied loads and displacements with a particular type of

Group 3 metal clusters are synthesized by laser vaporization in a pulsed cluster beam source and identified with laser ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The adiabatic ionization energies and vibrational frequencies of these clusters are measured using mass-analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) spectroscopy. Their structures and electronic states are determined by combining the MATI spectra with quantum chemical calculations and spectral simulations. AbstractThis chapter is devoted to the description and depiction of action sociometry processes and safety structures in group settings, especially in group therapy. Each of these is presented with considerations to theory, safety, and multiple examples of structured prompts for their application in diverse social work group settings. Experiential sociometry processes outlined include the use of small groups, spectrograms, locograms, floor checks, step-in sociometry, hand-on-shoulder soicograms, and the circle of strength safety structure. These action-based processes can be modified for use in any group setting to enliven the group experience.

Abstract:
Nuclear reactor simulation is often based on multi-group cross-section libraries. The structure and resolution of these libraries have a strong influence on the accuracy and computational time; hence, number of groups and energy structure must be carefully considered. The relationship between group structures and how they impact generated cross-sections can be a critical parameter. Common energy boundaries shared among major group structures were identified and the relative kinship among those was reconstructed in an effort to build a family tree of major group structures. Empirical work in design science has highlighted that the process of ideation can significantly affect design outcome. Exploring the design space with both breadth and depth increases the likelihood of achieving better design outcomes. Furthermore, iteratively attempting to solve challenging design problems in large groups over a short time period may be more effective than protracted exploration by an isolated set of individuals. There remains a substantial opportunity to explore the structure of various design concept sets. In addition, many empirical studies cap analysis at sample sizes of

Structured financing solutions encompass a range of investment approaches that provide liquidity to investors without the need for a traditional equity exit event, such as a strategic sale, sale to another financial investor, or public market listing. Structuring mechanisms across the debt-to-equity spectrum determine the exit terms of the deal, therefore providing considerable downside protection to investors. Structured financing solutions are an incipient but increasingly important set of tools for investors active in Latin America to address the financing gap for companies that lack access
