Full textThis work focuses on narrative poetry with fixed metre and rhyme scheme in the context of contemporary River Plate literatures. In the first part of the work, a definition of narrative poetry is presented, followed by the geographic and temporal limits for the identification of the corpus. The research of the texts, led in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile between January 2019 and March 2020, resulted in a corpus of ten literary works (two of them published in Chile, none in Paraguay). The text analysis will then be reduced to the Argentinian and Uruguayan works (eight in total). Starting from this corpus, textual analysis is developed, with a study of formal and thematic issues of each work, along with a detailed study of their production contexts and of their literary models and references. The third part of this work concerns the analysis of the literary phenomenon, focusing on the elements which deeply characterize this kind of texts and which influence their contemporary reception. In particular, I underpin the importance of the ludic and virtuoso aspects as highly relevant characteristics of this contemporary closed-form poetry, combined with thematic and linguistic innovation as compared to traditional models, which contributes to the development of literary proposals that result unexpected and surprising. I also advance the hypothesis that contemporary narrative poetry with fixed structure can be part of a wider phenomenon of re-valorization of artistic experiences with a high level of technical and artisanal value, as a response to the hegemony of informal and conceptual productions among contemporary artistic disciplines. Besides, I analyze some elements which transversally pertain to the whole corpus (formal aspects about metre and the employment of prosimetron), eventually discussing possible further developments for this research.

Full textThis thesis examines the origin of Giovan Ambrogio Marini’s Calloandro in Genoa’s rich and dynamic social and cultural context of the first half of the XVII century. Introductory pages to the novel’s various editions represent an important contribution about the novel’s developement in Italy, where the success of the genre wasn’t followed by a theoric and systemic study. After a research on the sources concerning the author’s biography and literary production, the first chapter presents a detailed synthesis of the novel’s plot which fixes some fundamental elements of this kind of work. The second chapter is about the novel’s narrative structure focusing on the techniques of the plot’s building. Then the third chapter describes literary models which influenced Marini’s work, in particular the Greek novels of Hellenism and the comic tradition. The fourth chapter analyses the characters' system: there are some subtle and unforeseeable characters, among many generic and insubstantial figures, that make Calloandro a unpredictable novel in which the psychological realism, typical of Ligurian novels, is combined with the taste of adventure, typical of the Venetian novels.

Full textThis thesis focuses on Medieval historiography, in particular the Marca Trevigiana commentators in the age of Ezzelino III da Romano (Gerardo Maurisio, Rolandino da Padova, the author of the Chronicon Marchiae Tarvisinae et Lombardiae, Paride da Cerea, Niccolò Smereglo, and Antonio Godi) in order to analyze the character of Ezzelino and his damnatio memoriae through XIII and XIV centuries writing. This group of citizens’ chronicles represents an intermediate landmark between the old universal chronicles and the new humanistic historiography. In this commentators’ opinion, after the perturbing experience of Ezzelino’s tyranny, it became impossible to reintroduce the canonic and traditional recording of events year by year. Hero or tyrant, Ezzelino had forced chroniclers to look at history from a different perspective. The research starts from the historical sources, in order to cover and examine the narrative techniques of these works. At a later stage, I relate my studies of these chronicles to the historiography of Dante’s life and highlight the connections to the Divine Comedy.

Full textThere are a lot of systems to create cinema, to generate and reproduce images perceived in motion from the human eye, but there is one that more than every other offer something new to the experimental vanguards, to the technological and aesthetic research: the animation, the cinema that creates its movement ex nihilo. A digital language of extreme technological refinement, able to tell stories of great emotional impact, is borne from the use of computer animation with its multiple applications. In this situation, the Pixar Animation Studios is placed like a house of cinematographic production, that, in few years, has given a considerable pushed to 3D animation, using the new technologies, always considered story driven and attracting the attention of a world-wide colossus like the Disney. Behind the Disney tradition, the creators of Pixar are alert to put the technology in history service. The history results amusing and able to entertain adults and children with elementary comic mechanisms and with refined cinematographic citations. The Pixar histories are able to confirm in a simple and deep way the truth that is in agreement with the authentic values of the human being.
