Abstract:
In this review article we consider a special case of D = 5, [Formula: see text] supergravity called the STU model. We apply the gauge–gravity correspondence to the STU model to gain insight into properties of the quark–gluon plasma. Given that the quark–gluon plasma is in reality described by quantum chromodynamics (QCD), we call our study STU–QCD correspondence. First, we investigate the thermodynamics and hydrodynamics of the STU background. Then we use a dual picture of the theory, which is type IIB string theory, to obtain the drag force and jet-quenching parameter of an external probe quark.

Abstract:
The design of the shock transmission unit (STU) was based on the maximum displacement, nominal load, lock up velocity and other parameters. The STU was subjected to a series of tests for checking its behavior. During the slow movement test, the resistance force is 10kN; during the simulated dynamic test, the deflection between the point of zero load and the point of maximum load is 4mm, and the deflection during the sustained load portion of the test is 5mm; during the fast movement test, the STU locked up within 1mm, the deflection from the point of lock-up to the maximum test load is 5mm, and the stiffness of STU throughout the force range from lock-up to maximum test load in tension and compression is 7.72% and 3.6% respectively. During the overload test and the fatigue load test, the STU shows no sign of leakage or binding.

Abstract:
This paper proposed a fast protection and control scheme of feeder automation (FA) for the modern distribution grid. The smart terminal unit (STU) is installed at each switchgear of the feeder, and STU has a directional over-current component. The adjacent STUs are connected each other by the optic fibre network, and ultimately they are all connected to the central station of FA. STU detects the local current and the status of breaker in real time, meanwhile exchanges the information with adjacent STUs. Through analyzing the information, STU can make a correct identification for a faulted section. Therefore, the faulted section can be isolated and power supply of non-faulted section can also be restored rapidly. Case analysis illustrates that the proposed fast protection and control scheme is valid and feasible.

Abstract:
My dissertation explores the poetry of Vasyl' Stus (1938-1985), a major Ukrainian writer and intellectual of the second half of the 20th century. This work aims at presenting the evolution of Stus' poetic oeuvre from his beginnings in the late Fifties up to his mature poetry of the Seventies. Moreover, it inquires the complex intertextual network of Stus' dialogue with Ukrainian, Russian, and German literature. The first chapter includes a brief sketch of Stus' biography, a discussion of the cultural setting of his human and artistic growth, as well as a critical survey of secondary literature on Stus' life and work. Stus' move to Kyiv at the beginning of the Sixties coincides with the final phase of the Thaw. The historical and literary specificity of the Ukrainian shistdesiatnytstvo, which promoted a fundamental and manifold renewal of Ukrainian culture, is at the core of the chapter. The history of Stus' reception shows how his complex and highly intellectual modernist poetical heritage has not been aptly inquired into by critics. The second chapter deals with Stus' literary essays and letters, with particular regard to his frequent remarks on literature. Stus' dissatisfaction with several trends in the development of Ukrainian literature clearly shows his willingness to contribute actively to its modernization. His many observations on the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, Boris Pasternak and other writers confirm his deep interest in their work and justify the search for intertextual links with them in his own production. The third chapter analyzes Stus' poetry, starting from his juvenilia, which include his early collections Delo №13 / BE1339 and Kruhovert', then focusing on Zymovi dereva and Veselyi cvyntar from the late Sixties, and eventually turning to his both masterpieces Chas tvorchosti / Dichtenszeit and Palimpsesty from the Seventies. The fourth chapter is dedicated to a discussion of Stus' modernist poetics in the context of the history of European and Ukrainian poetry of the 20th century. This implies a summarization of the intertextual knots identified in the previous part of the dissertation, with the aim of identifying the main features of Stus' dialogue with his preferential interlocutors, such as Rilke, Pasternak, Cvetaeva, and Shevchenko.

Abstract:
This project proposes a three-dimensional finite element model of a Steel Tube Umbilical Cable used in the offshore oil extraction. This model is used to study the crushing load imposed to the cable by the shoes of the tensioner during its installation, in order to obtain a detailed distribution of stresses in the components of the core, focusing on the steel tubes used for fluid transportation. The methodology employed in the development of the model will be fully described throughout the study, allowing to reproduce it in the analysis of different umbilical configurations. The developed model is used (i) as a paradigm for the validation of a two-dimensional model, which aims to analyze the same problem in an easier and faster manner, and (ii) to study the behavior of the stresses in the steel tubes in the entry/exit transition region of the shoe. Comparison between the two and three-dimensional models allows to conclude for the validity of the two-dimensional in evaluating the stresses in the steel tube resulting from the crushing load, in the central region of the cable. The study performed in the entry/exit transition region of the shoe has enabled do verify that there is an increase of the stress levels in the steel tubes in these transition regions, with field stress redistribution after plastification.

Abstract:
There is a shortage of nurses leading to challenges in recruitment in Sweden and many other countries. Especially for less populated regions recruitment can be chal-lenging. Nurses often face difficulties with work-life balance (WLB). This study aims to identify the importance of WLB opportunities and support that make a work-place attractive from the perspective of nursing students studying in Dalarna. A questionnaire was distributed via email to 525 students enrolled in the nursing bach-elor program at Dalarna University. They were asked to rate the importance of 15 sub questions regarding WLB opportunities and support. These sub questions were asked in order to analyze the importance of 15 components regarding WLB oppor-tunities and support. 196 students (37 percent) answered the questionnaire. Three WLB components, working from home, childcare and rooms for breastfeeding, were found to be not important to nursing students studying in Dalarna. This was reason-able due to the profession of nursing and the WLB support provided by the Swedish government. Cultural factors, such as the organization being positive towards using WLB opportunities and support, were more important than structural factors, such as the possibility to work part-time. Moreover, to have a manager that is supportive towards using WLB opportunities and support was found to be the most important factor and having workplace practical support such as childcare was found least im-portant. Furthermore, contrary to the expected results, no statistical significance was found on the influence on the importance of all combined relevant WLB opportuni-ties and support by the sociodemographic variables; gender, semester of studies, age, having children, months of work experience and work experience in the healthcare sector. However, nine individual components were found to be influ-enced by one or more sociodemographic variables. Therefore, some recommenda-tions on how to target specific groups of individuals were made. However, the con-clusion of the study is that, regardless of the sociodemographic variables and gov-ernmental support, organizations should offer new nurses opportunities and support to gain a balance between work and life, especially in terms of cultural factors.

Abstract:
In this thesis, we study gravity and supergravity systems that become completely integrable in two dimensions. Including Einstein gravity, these systems are theories that upon dimensional reduction to three dimensions assume the form of a non-linear $\s$-model for the matter part, with target manifold a coset space $\mathrm{G}/\mathrm{K}$. Starting from Einstein gravity and focusing on the class of stationary axisymmetric solutions, we study the linear system (Lax pair) associated with the non-linear field equations of vacuum gravity as formulated by Belinski - Zakharov (BZ) and Breitenlohner-Maison (BM). The existence of the linear system exhibits the integrability of the two-dimensional system and is amenable to inverse scattering methods as shown in two different approaches by BZ and BM. The infinite dimensional symmetry associated with the two-dimensional equations gives rise to the so-called Geroch group. The BM approach allows for a direct implementation of the Geroch group and the generation of physically interesting solutions in the soliton sector in a manifestly group theoretic way. For this reason, it is expected to apply to a broader set of coset models. Throughout this work, we concentrate on this approach and extend it to STU supergravity, where appropriate technical modifications were required in the BM solution generation algorithm. Based on these modifications, we also discuss a generalization to other set-ups. We test the applicability of the BM inverse scattering method by explicitly constructing the Kerr-NUT solution of Einstein gravity and within STU supergravity, the four-charge black hole solution of Cvetic and Youm as well as the singly rotating JMaRT solution.

Full text
Abstract:
Introduction Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) infection and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are important transmittable infections in the world. They are transmitted mostly through sexual activity and contaminated blood exchange (needle). Key populations are the most affected groups in the world from these infections, one of the important key population is female sex worker (FSW). Although FSW is the most vulnerable group, but stigma, discrimination, poverty and less evidence based policy have been the reasons this group cannot get access to health care. Endocervical infections or also called cervicitis is common among FSW. This infection is commonly caused by Neissheria gonorrhoea and Chlamydia trachomatis, although infection of Mycoplasma genitalium in endo cervix also quite common. This study investigated the sensitivity and specificity of current test, the correlation between prevalence of endocervical infections with behavior and other routine test result among women working in entertainment venues in Jayapura. Aims of this study is to evaluate current STI-HIV screening test and to generate recommendation for stakeholders. Material and methods This study was using questionnaire which was adapted from several studies about FSW behaviour, and one of this study was conducted on national scope, the Integrated Biological and Behavioural Survey (IBBS) in 2011. The laboratory result was from routine screening test in the reproduction health centre (PKR) and additional PCR test for N. gonorrhoeae and C. trachomatis on endocervical sample. Participants of this study are women working in entertainment venues in Jayapura-Papua, Indonesia for at least three months. Results Among 176 participants who got tested for any endocercival test of N. gonorrhoea and C. trachomatis, 24.4 percent (n = 43) of participant had at least 1 endocervical infection. Among all participants, the percentage of STIs was 26.5 percent (n=50). On bivariate analysis; Age, marriage status, last education, number of clients in the last week, have standard education, have regular sexual male partner in the last 1 year, have history of vaginal discharge in the last 5 year, have regular HIV check, use hotel and or rent room/ working place as a place of sexual transaction were associated with any endocervical infection. On multiple logistic regression analysis age, marriage status and a past history of vaginal discharge are significantly related with any endocervical infection among participants.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Accurate segmentation of tumors in MRI-guided radiation therapy (RT) is crucial for effective treatment planning, particularly for complex malignancies such as head and neck cancer (HNC). This study presents a comparative analysis between two state-of-the-art deep learning models, nnU-Net v2 and STU-Net, for automatic tumor segmentation in pre-RT MRI images. While both models are designed for medical image segmentation, STU-Net introduces critical improvements in scalability and transferability, with parameter sizes ranging from 14 million to 1.4 billion. Leveraging large-scale pre-training on datasets such as TotalSegmentator, STU-Net captures complex and variable tumor structures more effectively. We modified the default nnU-Net v2 by adding additional convolutional layers to both the encoder and decoder, improving its performance for MRI data. Based on our experimental results, STU-Net demonstrated better performance than nnU-Net v2 in the head and neck tumor segmentation challenge. These findings suggest that integrating advanced models like STU-Net into clinical workflows could remarkably enhance the precision of RT planning, potentially improving patient outcomes. Ultimately, the performance of the fine-tuned STU-Net-B model submitted for the final evaluation phase of Task 1 in this challenge achieved a DSCagg-GTVp of 0.76, a DSCagg-GTVn of 0.85, and an overall DSCagg-mean score of 0.81, securing ninth place in the Task 1 rankings. Full text
Abstract:
In early March of 2014, a group of eager undergraduate stu-dents sat huddled in a classroom at Fitchburg State University discussing with ill-disguised excitement the trivial fact that The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug might be a screening option on the plane to England. Our Lone Medievalist — our study abroad course instructor — listened with an amused expression. The following night we boarded said plane to embark on our adventure to walk in the footsteps of medieval England. As we moved through the country it became clear that there was an indisputable link between the medieval sites we visited and the fan culture that we so thoroughly immersed ourselves in daily. Not a single day passed during which we failed to find a link between the medieval past and contemporary “nerd-dom.” In a trip that lasted the duration of nine days, we learned that, while the world of academia may marginalize medieval scholars in favor of contemporary scholars, the world of popular culture embraces and profits from the fascinating and diverse stores of medieval culture.

Abstract:
Many scholars of medieval studies enter their first job after leav-ing supportive graduate programs where other graduate stu-dents understood their woes. Once teaching at an institution where scholarly studies may not be a priority, many quickly dis-cover that they do not have much time, especially for research and writing. Moreover, they lack the supportive community that they once had.1 As a lone medievalist, the struggle to produce scholarship and writing is difficult and complicated. Creating classes, curriculum planning, committee work, etc., all eventu-ally become routine. Sadly, the same cannot be said of research. From lack of library resources, to the reliance on oneself as an audience, the research process proves to be difficult. Despite these obstacles there are a number of ways to better facilitate re-searching and writing while still performing one’s teaching duties as the lone medievalist. The solutions and advice2 — focus-ing on the categories of research and collegiality — draw from The Rule of Saint Augustine. The solitary medieval monk serves as a surprising parallel to modern lone medievalist.

W.J. van Gerven Oei, Vincent. "Anders Brevik." In continent. Year 1. punctum books, 2012. https://doi.org/10.21983/p3.0016.1.08.

Full text
Abstract:
In the aftermath of the lethal shooting of politically organizing left-wing stu-dents and the bombing of Oslo’s political center by the Norwegian Anders Breivik, there has been much discussion about the rationale behind his ac-tions in a general sense, and, more specifically, the implications and explica-tions of right-wing, nationalist, racist language which is considerably com-mon in several European nations. In many forum threads and blog posts, analyses are given of Breivik’s actions in relation to the current political cli-mate in these environs, which, truth be told, is of an extremely poisonous na-ture. Ample reflection is given on the 1500+ page manifesto distributed by Breivik, entitled 2083: A European Declaration of Independence; De Laude Novae Militiae Pauperes Commilitones Christi Templique Solomonici, which appears to have been finished the day before he committed his crimes. This essay aims not so much for a clarification of the content of this manifesto, but attempts to provide a cartography of its rhetorical procedures, hoping to deconstruct some of the discourse that Breivik has managed to create around himself, both before and after his act. It first of all is an attempt to read Breivik as copycat, borrowing left and right, against unstable credit limits and with uncertain debt ceilings, assembling his ideological trust fund from sources as divergent as the Columbine Massacre, American conserva-tive politics, eugenics, post-Luddite ideology, and freemasonry.
