Abstract:
In this review article we consider a special case of D = 5, [Formula: see text] supergravity called the STU model. We apply the gauge–gravity correspondence to the STU model to gain insight into properties of the quark–gluon plasma. Given that the quark–gluon plasma is in reality described by quantum chromodynamics (QCD), we call our study STU–QCD correspondence. First, we investigate the thermodynamics and hydrodynamics of the STU background. Then we use a dual picture of the theory, which is type IIB string theory, to obtain the drag force and jet-quenching parameter of an external probe quark.

Abstract:
The design of the shock transmission unit (STU) was based on the maximum displacement, nominal load, lock up velocity and other parameters. The STU was subjected to a series of tests for checking its behavior. During the slow movement test, the resistance force is 10kN; during the simulated dynamic test, the deflection between the point of zero load and the point of maximum load is 4mm, and the deflection during the sustained load portion of the test is 5mm; during the fast movement test, the STU locked up within 1mm, the deflection from the point of lock-up to the maximum test load is 5mm, and the stiffness of STU throughout the force range from lock-up to maximum test load in tension and compression is 7.72% and 3.6% respectively. During the overload test and the fatigue load test, the STU shows no sign of leakage or binding.

Abstract:
This paper proposed a fast protection and control scheme of feeder automation (FA) for the modern distribution grid. The smart terminal unit (STU) is installed at each switchgear of the feeder, and STU has a directional over-current component. The adjacent STUs are connected each other by the optic fibre network, and ultimately they are all connected to the central station of FA. STU detects the local current and the status of breaker in real time, meanwhile exchanges the information with adjacent STUs. Through analyzing the information, STU can make a correct identification for a faulted section. Therefore, the faulted section can be isolated and power supply of non-faulted section can also be restored rapidly. Case analysis illustrates that the proposed fast protection and control scheme is valid and feasible.

Full text
Abstract:
Stomata are specialized portals in plant leaves to modulate water loss from plants to the atmosphere by control of the transpiration, thereby determining the water-use efficiency and drought resistance of plants. Despite that the stomata developmental progression is well-understood at the molecular level, the experimental evidence that miRNA regulates stomata development is still lacking, and the underlying mechanism remains elusive. This study demonstrates the involvement of stu-miR827 in regulating the drought tolerance of potato due to its control over the leaf stomatal density. The expression analysis showed that stu-miR827 was obviously repressed by drought stresses and then rapidly increased after rewatering. Suppressing the expression of stu-miR827 transgenic potato lines showed an increase in stomatal density, correlating with a weaker drought resistance compared with wildtype potato lines. In addition, StWRKY48 was identified as the target gene of stu-miR827, and the expression of StWRKY48 was obviously induced by drought stresses and was greatly upregulated in stu-miR827 knockdown transgenic potato lines, suggesting its involvement in the drought stress response. Importantly, the expression of genes associated with stomata development, such as SDD (stomatal density and distribution) and TMM (too many mouths), was seriously suppressed in transgenic lines. Altogether, these observations demonstrated that suppression of stu-miR827 might lead to overexpression of StWRKY48, which may contribute to negatively regulating the drought adaptation of potato by increasing the stomatal density. The results may facilitate functional studies of miRNAs in the process of drought tolerance in plants.

Abstract:
Abstract Older adults engage in digital health use (DHU) and social technology use (STU) to connect with health care providers and loved ones. DHU has expanded as an accessible health care option, though its effects on well-being are underexplored. Meanwhile, STU is known to improve quality of life for older adults. This study investigates the association between DHU and well-being and determines whether STU mediates this association. Data from the 2022 National Health and Aging Trends Study were analyzed, with a sample of 5,773 U.S. Medicare beneficiaries, ages 65 and older. The sample was primarily White (64%), female (58%), 65-79-years-old (52%), and urban-living (84%). Structural equation modeling captured the complex relationships of the latent constructs of DHU (e.g., telehealth visit, sending portal messages), STU (e.g., video chat, texting, social media), and well-being (e.g., belief in one’s life purpose, self-determination, confidence). Confirmatory factor analyses with sufficient fit indices established validity of the measurement models. In the full model, DHU was negatively associated with well-being (β=-0.22, p<.001); however, a mediation analysis revealed a strong partial mediation (β=0.32 (CI 0.24-0.46), SE=0.055, z=6.163, p<.001) with acceptable model fit. Adding STU as a mediator reversed the direction and increased the magnitude of the association between DHU and well-being. The significant negative path between DHU and well-being may indicate that DHU is not a preferred option for older adults, but the partial mediation suggests that STU offers familiarity with communication technology that strengthens the association towards well-being. Future research should clarify the reasons underlying these significant associations.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the precision and amount of dental tissue removed during overlay preparation by experienced and less experienced operators, with and without magnification systems. Methods: Sixty-four first upper molar Frasaco Typodonts were divided into four groups: experienced operators with magnification (Group 3, EXP+LOU), experienced operators without magnification (Group 1, EXP), dental students with magnification (Group 4, STU+LOU), and dental students without magnification (Group 2, STU). Preparations including an occlusal reduction of 1.5 mm and an interproximal box of 1 mm width. The prepared teeth were scanned and analyzed using reverse engineering software (Geomagic Control X, Oqton, San Francisco, CA, USA) to evaluate preparation accuracy, dental substance removal, and comparison to a control unprepared tooth. Results: The analysis showed that the average reduction was 32.19%. Group 4 (STU+LOU) showed significantly improved accuracy with magnification compared to Group 2 (STU). Group 3 (EXP+LOU) achieved the best result with an average reduction of 23.96%, while Group 2 (STU) had the worst result with 41.28%. Conclusions: Conservative indirect restorations, such as overlays, effectively preserve dental tissue. Operator experience and magnification systems are crucial for preparation accuracy. Magnification improves precision for less experienced operators, reducing tooth volume loss by 9.1%, and enhances cavity design accuracy, ensuring a better restoration fit and minimizing the marginal gap.

Abstract:
The influence of harvest method on proximate composition, protein oxidation, and texture profile of beef from Nellore cattle were investigated. Longissimus lumborum (LL) muscles were obtained from twelve grain-fed Nellore carcasses. The animals were slaughtered after stunning (STU; n=6) or without stunning (WST; n=6) and after 24 hours postmortem, the LL was sliced into 2.54-cm steaks, packed under aerobic conditions, and stored at 4°C for nine days. Proximate composition was analyzed on day 0, whereas protein oxidation (carbonyl content) and texture profile (hardness, chewiness, cohesiveness, and springiness) were evaluated on days 0, 3, 6, and 9. STU and WST steaks exhibited similar proximate composition, hardness, and chewiness (p > 0.05). WST steaks exhibited greater protein oxidation and lower cohesiveness than their STU counterparts on day 0 (p < 0.05). Concerning the storage period, WST steaks demonstrated a decrease in springiness and a more pronounced increase in cohesiveness than their STU counterparts (p < 0.05). These results indicated that the harvest method influenced LL protein oxidation and texture profile from Bos indicus cattle.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic affected the utilization of various healthcare services differentially. Sleep testing services utilization (STU) (Home Sleep Apnea Testing [HSAT] and Polysomnography [PSG]) were uniquely affected. We assessed the effects of the pandemic on STU and its recovery using the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) data. Methods A retrospective cohort study from the VHA between 01/2019 and 10/2023 of veterans with age ≥ 50. We extracted STU data using Current Procedural Terminology codes for five periods based on STU and vaccination status: pre-pandemic (Pre-Pan), pandemic sleep test moratorium (Pan-Mor), and pandemic pre-vaccination (Pan-Pre-Vax), vaccination (Pan-Vax), and postvaccination (Pan-Post-Vax). We compared STU between intervals (Pre-Pan as the reference). Results Among 261,371 veterans (63.7±9.6 years, BMI 31.9±6.0 kg/m², 80% male), PSG utilization decreased significantly during Pan-Mor (-56%), Pan-Pre-Vax (-61%), Pan-Vax (-42%), and Pan-Post-Vax (-36%) periods all compared to Pre-Pan. HSAT utilization decreased significantly during the Pan-Mor (-59%) and Pan-Pre-Vax (-9%) phases compared to the Pre-Pan and subsequently increased during Pan-Vax (+6%) and Pan-Post-Vax (-1%) periods. Over 70% of STU transitioned to HSAT, and its usage surged five months after the vaccine introduction. Conclusion Sleep testing services utilization recovered differentially during the pandemic (PSG vs HSAT), including a surge in HSAT utilization post-vaccination. Abstract:
The annular discharge orifice is a key parameter for the design of a shock transmission unit (STU). The proper dimension of the annular discharge orifice can make the stiffness difference of STU maximum in different conditions. Making use of three laws of fluid mechanics, the mathematical model for designing annular discharge orifice was developed. The STUs were subjected to the slow movement test, the fast movement test and the simulated dynamic test. During the slow movement test, the resistance force does not exceed 10% of the nominal rated force; during the simulated dynamic test, the deflection between the point of zero load and the point of maximum load does not exceed 12 mm, and the deflection during the sustained load portion of the test does not exceed 12 mm; during the fast movement test, the force can maintain the nominal rated force. The validity of the mathematical model is verified by these testing, and the mathematical model can instruct the design of annular discharge orifice of STU.

Abstract:
The within-station performance of the most accurate phenological model in each of three classes of hourly models was compared for the ability to predict flowering dates of common purple lilac (Syringa vulgaris L.). For the three model classes used, day-only, solar thermal unit (STU), and 24-hour interpolations were made between three threshold temperatures and five effective temperature exponents. The most accurate within-station model for each of the three model classes, all having a threshold temperature of 5C, were: (T - 5)1.54 day-only, (T - 5)1.26 R0.5 STU, and (T - 5)1.70 24-hour, where T = temperature and R = solar radiation. These three models and the corresponding three linear temperature exponent models were then compared for among-station performance using 10 sites in the western United States. The most accurate model for the among-station analyses was the (T - 5)1.0 day-only model. The two STU models did not perform as well as the two day-only and the two 24-hour models.
