Abstract:
Pro wrestling is an entertainment form that traditionally has been disdained by purists for its inherent duality as a sport and as an arranged show. A disparity in its value is also observed in the cultural life of society, where it is regularly seen as not being a worthy subject of study. Research concerning pro wrestling has mostly been carried out in sociological terms, but there has been little academic work done in the area of linguistics. This paper explores the stylistic choices made by two performers of the WWE wrestling company in televised spoken segments, and analyzes their interaction with the audience employing pragmatic criteria.

Abstract:
The article deals with the analysis of graphic-stylistic means of the language, such as punctuation, functioning in modern English based on the language material of literary and media texts (on-line site of The Guardian). The aim of the paper is to reveal some actual functional characteristics of punctuation marks compared with their traditional syntactic and stylistic usage. The linguistic analysis is conducted within the methodology of semantic and syntactic interpretation and description. The following new functional usage of punctuation marks is described: the playing (ludic) function (creating an ironic, comic or parody effect in communication) and the expressive function emphasizing the semantics of an element in a communicative context. The importance of the undertaken analysis is to show the necessity of studying the English punctuation functions from the point of view of modern theory of communication and media linguistics as well as with an empirical educational purpose of teaching the English grammar.

Abstract:
While the communicative and functional dimensions of sports discourse have been widely studied, less attention has been given to its stylistic aspects. This article intends to address that gap by identifying the stylistic features of English-language sports discourse and examining how they function across different mediums, including print media, broadcast (live) commentary, and digital platforms. The study uses a 300,000-word corpus from diverse sources to identify key stylistic devices such as alliteration, metaphor, periphrasis, epithets, gradation, euphemism, similes, and rhetorical questions. The findings suggest that these stylistic tools contribute to the emotional and descriptive calibre of sports narratives, with distinct patterns emerging across mediums: print media leans toward detailed and reflective language, live commentary emphasises immediacy, and digital platforms prioritise concise and interactive expression. The analysis has shown how these stylistic elements contribute to the effectiveness of sports discourse by garnering audience’s attention and enriching the storytelling process. The findings bring to the fore the stylistic richness of sports discourse and place emphasis on the importance of integrating stylistic analysis into broader discourse studies.

Abstract:
Political discourse is a recent but increasingly exciting field of study. The political discourse offers much scope for interdisciplinary research. This current study is a stylistic analysis of the Inaugural speech delivered by Nigerian President Muhammadu Bukhari in Abuja on 29th May 2015. The current study aims to signify the role of Stylistics in CDA to unleash socio-political cognition in speeches. This qualitative research owing to its interdisciplinary nature draws on stylistics and critical discourse analysis as well. Teun A. Van Dijk's socio-cognitive approach is used to analyze the mental models underlying linguistic structures made explicit through stylistic analysis. The stylistic analysis is conducted on lexical and grammatical levels, but cohesion and speech acts have also been highlighted in the findings and discussion part. The study explores how stylistic devices are used to create a rhetorical effect and how this effect qualifies for being persuasive. The stylistic analysis reconnoiters the linguistic patterns, and CDA leads to the ideologies that shape these patterns. This study strengthens the belief that both stylistics and critical discourse analysis have great scope and power in revealing discursive practices of hegemony and persuasion.

Abstract:
Purpose. The paper aims at discovering stylistic and grammatical peculiarities in tourism discourse based on VisitBritain.com text corpus; analyzing its application scope and mission; specifying “tourism discourse” as a notion.
Methodology. Used in the paper are general scientific methods (synthesis, generalization), analysis of the text corpus, method of linguistic analysis.
Results. The issue of tourism discourse as a separate unit, not a subtype of advertising discourse, remains highly disputable nowadays. The present paper analyses the theoretical basis of notions of “discourse” and “tourism discourse”; determines the levels and communication means in tourism; substantiates the hypothesis on multi-component and multi-modal structure of tourism discourse as a linguistic phenomenon. In the practical part of the research, the author draws special attention to the specifics of the English tourism discourse in terms of typology, lexicology and morphology. The paper concludes by saying that tourism discourse is different from advertising one as well as requires further investigation into the issue.
Practical implications. The results presented in the article can be used both in theory and applications, i.e., further inquiry into the pragmatic constituent of tourism discourse and its interdisciplinarity; compilation of corpora of tourist texts in the English language; adaptation of the English tourism discourse for present-day realities and addressees’ demands.

Abstract:
This review focuses on contemporary work in discourse stylistics, defined here as that designated branch of stylistics which draws specifically on the techniques and methods of discourse analysis. The review acknowledges a key assumption in modern discourse stylistic research, namely that the distinction between ‘literary’ and ‘nonliterary’ discourse, if tenable at all, is drawn not on a purely linguistic basis but in terms of multiple intersections among texts, readers, institutions, and sociocultural contexts. In spanning studies of both literary and nonliterary discourse, therefore, the coverage of the present review is intended to reflect this axiom. It also attempts to foreground the diversity of method and approach in contemporary discourse stylistics. Given that the techniques of discourse analysis are themselves many and various, the survey seeks to cover stylistic work that offers productive applications of the many available models in pragmatics, conversation analysis, cognitive linguistics, speech act theory, and discourse psychology. Finally, in covering a selection of important monographs, articles, and book chapters, the review seeks both to highlight some of the critical, cultural, and ideological frameworks currently employed by discourse stylisticians and to demarcate, in more general terms, the current state-of-play in this research tradition.

The study of diplomatic discourse is part of the research of specialized languages. This enterprise offers us the opportunity to formulate unique ideas and observations regarding the stylistic structure of the updated language, of the linguistic and cultural relations between different peoples. At the same time, the analysis of terminologies of different fields of activity (in our case - diplomatic), the determination of areas of interference and the relationship with the common language (usage) are the main objectives of current language studies, especially in the direction of language evaluation in terms of its function. Diplomacy, diplomatic language, is a polyvalent science (social, political, economic, cultural, etc.), which has as object of study one of the major components of society, namely the reality of the diplomat. At the same time, diplomacy is a technique operating with a set of rules that organizes human coexistence between states and worlds and establishes its main coordinates, guiding diplomatic-human behavior and defending the interests of society. Diplomacy as a science and as an art is a reality summarized in a Latin saying: iusars est ars acquiet boni ("art is what is fair and useful").

To do so, the researchers examine two political speeches “President-elect Joe Biden’s victory speech” and “Justin Trudeau’s victory speech” and then made a comparison between them. The data are analyzed by using an eclectic model: a combination of Searl’s (1965, 1989) model and Sihite's (2019) model. The study is descriptive and qualitative, since it does not deal with statistics and numbers. After applying the two models, the researchers found that both prime ministers use certain words to convey the act of promising such as the auxiliary “will” or by using the implied promise act which is used only by the American prime minister; he uses this style two times throughout the analyzed extracts. The researchers also found that both prime ministers use certain stylistic strategies to achieve their goals such as repetition which occurs twice in Trudeau’s speech, parallelism and fronting which appear twice in Biden’s speech. The research also shows that both prime ministers use active voice, and informal dialect, they do so to achieve their purposes.

Abstract:
Discourse analysis includes such types of speech activities as speaking, listening, reading and writing, i.e. through this analysis it is possible to analyze dialogic, monologue texts, natural speech, any type of texts in terms of genre. Discourse analysis is usually connected to psychological (cognitive, cultural-historical), linguistic (grammatical, textological, stylistic), semiotic (semantic, syntactic, pragmatic), philosophical (structuralist, poststructuralist, deconstructivist), logical (argumentative and analytical), informational-communicative and rhetorical approaches. In this manuscript, we have explored the style of male and female folkloric text through various stylistic means. As a research method, we used the discourse analysis proposed by S. Mills. For many years, the use of the term “discourse” in textual research has become a tradition. Research on language and discourse relations is becoming as popular research on language and gender relations. However, the analysis of feminist and masculine discourse in linguistics is still minor for political and social reasons. This manuscript examines the style of the English, Italian and Uzbek folklore texts through gender based and functional stylistics. Undoubtedly, folklore texts are passed colloquially through words, they have neither narrator nor writer, so different folklore texts have been analyzed according to the gender of collectors of the three nations. The creation of a special categorical apparatus in the field of gender stylistics requires the introduction of “gender style” and “gender stylization”. Gender methodology is based on the author's gender characteristics, speech. Gender style varies depending on the gender change of the author and falls into a certain patterns. The plot and content structure of any type of text depends on the gender of the author or subject of the speech.

The purpose of this article is to identify the linguistic and stylistic ways of organizing English microtexts in fashion discourse in terms of discourse analysis, pragmatics and functional stylistic analysis. The novelty of the study refers to the fact that as a result of an integrated approach to the linguostylistic ways of organizing English microtexts, we were able not only to identify and systematize expressive means and stylistic devices of English microtexts from the world of modern youth fashion, but also to discover examples of discourse interference when linguistic means of colloquial, publicist, belles-lettres, scientific and official styles are combined, which leads to an enhanced pragmatic effect of English microtexts in fashion discourse. The article presents examples of paralinguistic means such as font, text layout, color, images, in connection with verbal components that perform appellative and regulatory functions. The analysis revealed that stylistic means of lexical and syntactic levels significantly predominate in English microtexts on clothing and accessories.

Abstract:
Discourse is defined as a process of real-life communication in which systemic linguistic qualities, degree of spontaneity and completeness, thematic coherence, and clarity for other people play a significant role. It's hard to overlook the fact that human communication is always influenced by the communicants' positions. It is critical that they belong to a social group and speak in a normal manner. Discourse takes into account and reflects the specific circumstances in which and for which it was created: 1) the author's communicative intents; 2) the author's relationship with the addressees; 3) various "important" and "insignificant" conditions; 4) the ideology and stylistic climate of an era in general, the concrete environment, and specific individuals to whom the message is addressed; 5) the genre and stylistic features of the message and communicative situation; 6) associations with previous experience that brought the speech act into orbit (Karasik, 2002). These characteristics and situations, as well as supporting statements and their combination with the appropriate linguistic tools, are used to assign certain categories of discourse.

Abstract:
The present article aims at analyzing stylistic features of the Internet discourse on the material of a microblog by a famous world politician Joe Biden in his official Twitter account. The subject of our research is various stylistic devices by which the transfer of the author's emotional state to his readers and his attitude towards the major world events is formed. A range of scientific methods have been employed to classify the means of expression, namely: descriptive and comparative methods as well as the method of stylistic and discourse analysis. To achieve this goal, the peculiarities of the functioning of stylistic devices have been considered. The frequency of using these tools in the Internet discourse under study has also been studied. In general, Joe Biden’s tweets are characterized by highlighting the fast progress of his administration in various spheres of life, the use of both colloquial and bookish vocabulary, and scarcity of law and political terms. The tweets under analysis contain numerous lexical stylistic devices, among which the most frequently used appeared to be metaphor, metonymy and epithet. Moreover, the American president employs plenty of syntactic stylistic devices such as rhetorical questions, ellipsis, anaphora, stylistic repetition and gradation. Antithesis, epiphora and anadiplosis are few in occurrence. Also, this microblog can be characterized by the use of such phonetic stylistic devices as alliteration of consonant sounds /r/, /k/, /s/ and /m/ as well as assonance of vowel sounds /æ/ and /e/. Thus, Joe Biden’s microblog is rich in various stylistic devices. Key words: the Internet discourse, microblog, Twitter, Joe Biden, stylistic devices.

Abstract:
This paper attempts to identify the stylistic aspects of the language utilized in Divine-Prophetic discourse in Biblical and Quranic texts. Precisely, this work sets itself the task of answering the following question: what are the most prevalent stylistic devices implemented in this kind of discourse? Accordingly, the study aims at identifying the most common stylistic devices employed in Divine-Prophetic discourse and finding the interdifferences between Biblical and Quranic texts in this respect. It is hypothesized that Divine-Prophetic discourse utilizes certain stylistic techniques such as parallelism, repetition, alliteration, rhyme, simile, and metaphor. In order to achieve the aims of this paper and test its hypothesis, Leech and Short's (2007) categorization of figures of speech is utilized for the analysis of the data under scrutiny. Besides, a statistical method represented by the percentage equation is utilized for calculating the findings of analysis. The analysis is conducted on three Biblical texts taken from different books of the Old Testament and three Quranic texts taken from different suras of the Glorious Quran. Findings of the analysis reveal that the above hypothesis has been partially validated in the Biblical texts in that parallelism, repetition, alliteration, and simile have been widely implemented in these texts whereas rhyme and metaphor are not used at all. The same hypothesis, however, has been fully validated in the Quranic texts.

Abstract:
Introduction. The present study examines the pragmastilistic potential of migration discourse based on the speeches of modern British politicians. The relevance of the chosen topic lies in the acute social specifics of migration discourse and its manipulative component. In today’s world, migration processes have become global and their impact on the development of the host culture is becoming increasingly evident. There is still no established strategy for the integration of migrants into the new society, which creates a conflict environment and determines the hostility of the indigenous population towards migrants. Migration discourse as one of the directions of policy discourse becomes an effective tool for managing public opinion. Various persuasive tactics are incorporated in the speech of politicians using linguistic means, the use of which in the British migration discourse is considered in this article.Methodology and sources. The key tasks of the study are to identify specific discursive tactics, by means of which the persuasive strategy is implemented in the British migration discourse, and to analyze the stylistic techniques used to design the discovered tactics. During the study, pragmastilistic analysis was used, the application of which involves referring to the following methods of linguistic research: the method of continuous sampling, quantitative, descriptive and comparative methods, the method of stylistic analysis, discursive analysis. The material of the study was the speeches of modern British politicians from 2004 to 2021. Results and discussion. The analysis of migration discourse based on the texts of speeches by modern British politicians allows to talk about the stylistic saturation of the material and the main means of expressiveness used in the framework of the discourse under consideration. The main tactic of opponents of free migration is the comparison of “good/bad” migrants, which is actualized using antithesis. As for the lexical stylistic means, the use of the epithet should be specified, which is also a way of actualizing opposition tactics. Thus, this tactic is implemented both at the lexical and syntactic level. Similar tactics are also relevant in the framework of pro-migration rhetoric, namely, when comparing the local elite and the visiting population, which performs all the work necessary for the functioning of society. In most cases the main stylistic technique for tactics actualization is antithesis (or the convergence of antithesis and epithet). Proponents of pro-migration policies also use metaphor (tactics for describing the political process) and syntactic parallelism (tactics for describing the benefits of migration). Finally, the most common tactic inherent in both poles of migration discourse is the tactic of generalization. It consists in equating the speaker with his audience, their “fusion”, and is most often actualized using hyperbola.Conclusion. Migration discourse is characterized by an ideological orientation, which is actualized using certain speech techniques, tactics and strategies. Migration discourse, as a multifaceted entity, can also serve to harmonize social life by facilitating the integration of migrants into the host culture. Migration discourse is a powerful ideological weapon that can be used both to contribute to integration and to incite ethnic hatred. Stylistic tools play a key role in the implementation of a persuasive strategy, which is actively used both in migration and in political discourse in general. The main tactics of the migration discourse of modern British politicians are opposition and generalization, used both in pro- and anti-migration rhetoric.

Abstract:
The study is concerned with the investigation of cognitive stylistic in the selected poem written by Emily Dickinson in order to show the effect of different cognitive stylistic devices especially the use of mental spaces on the interpretation of meaning. These mental spaces can help construct grammars that conceptualize the poet's world view. They are interacted and used not only in creation conceptual integration but also used to model dynamic mapping in the thought and language.
The analysis has shown that cognitive stylistics is used as a device to provide a systematic and scientific approach to discourse authors and readers understanding of the world and explain how these interpretations are reflected in discourse organization. It tries to explain the way the cognitive processes are involved in meaning constructions. Furthermore, mental spaces can help construct grammars that conceptualize the poet's world view. Dickinson use of self-anaphor has created a world of possibilities, a world in which things can happen and be made to happen through the agencies of the self. Finally, metaphor is used as a scheme by which people conceptualize their experience to transfer, modify or blend mental constructs especially in the way by which one mental representation is mapped onto another when we read a text.

Abstract:
The article examines means for constructing identities in legal informal discourse on Internet memes corpus. The aim of our research is to establish the regularities in the ways of identity constructions through the categorical oppositions and the stylistic means. The background of the research is the socio-constructionist and critical discourse-analysis approaches. We applied a methodology that integrates two approaches: a critical discourse analysis, as well as methods of humour analysis developed within the framework of a semantic approach to humour based on scripts (Script-based Semantic Theory of Humour (SSTH)). This involved identifying the subject positions based on linguistic and contextual analysis; examination of universal ways of how identities are expressed in informal legal discourse. The focus of our analysis was on the stylistic means that implement a certain way of professional identity construction. Our analysis indicated that identities appear fragmentary and are constructed with the means of different discourses; the central one is the professional legal, which is compared or contrasted to everyday discourse, informal, advertising and even “mom’s” discourse. The list of linguistic resources varies from legal terminology and neutral vocabulary to colloquial and thieves’ and mothers’ slang and invective vocabulary. The study expands the field of knowledge about the ways, stylistic and linguistic means of constructing professional identity through various possibilities of discursive subjects positioning.

Abstract:
Purpose. The article is devoted to the study of the authorʼs stylistics by Yevhen Hutsalo, in particular to the identification of the linguistic and stylistic dominants of the writerʼs bizarre tdiscourse. The material of the study was a bizarre trilogy of the writer «Borrowed Man», «Private Life of the Phenomenon», «Parade of Planets». Research methods. The research is based on general scientific methods, using inductive and descriptive-analytical methods – for the accumulation, systematization and analysis of factual material; method of phraseological analysis – to identify the phraseology of the phrase; structural and semantic methods – for the analysis of textual integration of phraseology; the method of comparative analysis is used to compare casual and occasional phraseological units; the method of contextual analysis was used to establish the authorʼs intentions and text-forming potentials of transformed phraseology. Results. The authorʼs linguistic and stylistic organization of Yevhen Hutsaloʼs bizarre trilogy is analyzed, its linguistic and stylistic dominants, which appear as text-forming, plotforming and genre-forming factors of Yevhen Hutsaloʼs bizarre discourse, are determined. Their typological manifestations and expressive-pragmatic functions in the text space of the studied chimera are determined. It is revealed that the writer uses structural-semantic transformations and semantic modifications of phraseology, occasional phraseology, synonymization of phraseological units, authorʼs aphorisms, authorʼs paraphrasing and title creation productively to create a chimerical modality of the literary-art text. Conclusions. Itʼs established that the verbalizers of the authorʼs pretentiousness by Yevhen Hutsalo are a complex system of lexical and phraseological means with the dominance of different manifestations of the authorʼs modification of phraseological units. The most significant in the context of the stylistic dominance of pretentiousness are the semantic modification of phraseology, in particular the reception of double actualization, expanded phraseological metaphor, and structural-semantic transformation of phraseology, in particular the reception of phraseological hints, capable of directing. In order to enhance the linguistic-art expressiveness of bizarre novels, the writer productively uses the synonymization of phraseology, to realize the harmony of form and content uses the authorʼs paraphrasing and authorʼs aphorisms.

Abstract:
Previous literary studies on the revision of “Leda and the Swan” by William B. Yeats are mainly concerned with its psychological, social and historical implications conveyed by the relationship between Leda and the swan, and seldom explain the realization of this relationship in linguistic terms and its reception by the readership. Stylistic studies can furnish linguistic evidence for literary interpretation. Building on previous literary criticism and stylistic analysis, this study takes the first stanza as an example and conducts a cognitive stylistic analysis of the poem’s three versions by means of Langacker’s reference point model and dynamic discourse analysis framework. The poet’s aspiration to achieve subtle balance in the relationship through syntactic and semantic alteration is thus better understood and the possibility of applying Langacker’s cognitive grammar to stylistic analysis of poetry is tentatively explored.

Abstract:
This study is based on the analysis of language practices and features that different cricket commentators use in international cricket matches. This study explores that cricket commentary forms a complete register on its own with its field, tenor, and mode components. Data for this research have been taken from the 1992 World Cup, the 2015 World Cup, and the Ashes Series 2005 matches available on YouTube. Textual analysis technique has been employed for data analysis. After analyzing the data in the light of Halliday’s notion of register comprising field, tenor, and mode, it is found that cricket commentary is characterized by special syntactic features such as ellipsis, extensive use of exclamatory sentences, the abundant use of the simple present tense and simple sentences, passive construction notably in elliptical form, first and third conditionals, and inversion. Use of idioms, certain action verbs, certain positive and negative adjectives, and certain adverbs are some of the salient features of cricket commentary. Cricket commentary also has a special jargon with words like ‘knock’, ‘mid-on’, ‘mid-off’, ‘innings’ and ‘bouncer’ etc. Cricket commentators also use certain aspects of connected speech such as weak forms of words, elision, and assimilation.

Abstract:
This paper presents a critical discourse analysis of Muniba Mazari's motivational speeches, focusing on deconstructing conventional notions related to disability, gender, perfection, and existence. The study combines stylistic analysis, motivational theory, and critical discourse analysis frameworks to examine the uniqueness of Mazari's speeches. Drawing on the theoretical concepts proposed by Leech and Short (2007), Maslow's Pyramid (1943), and Fairclough (2003), the analysis scrutinizes traditional perceptions through language choices and discourse formation. The stylistic analysis section utilizes Leech and Short's (2007) framework to thoroughly explore the literary devices employed by Mazari to convey her message and persuade the audience. In line with Fairclough's (2003) framework, the critical discourse analysis section examines Mazari's language choices and discourse structures, revealing her engagement in a contemporary discourse that challenges traditional binary oppositions and constructs a fresh understanding of gender, disability, perfection, and existence. Maslow's Pyramid (1943) framework investigates Mazari's speeches' psychological and motivational aspects, highlighting how she influences the audience's psychology and motivates them. This research offers new insights that counter conventional notions and promote a novel perception of gender, disability, perfection, and existence, providing an intellectual understanding of Mazari's figurative language and thematic exploration.

Abstract:
Based on theories in pragmatics, rhetoric, argumentation and discourse analysis, the genre of “journalistic film review”, relatively little examined, has been analysed in this paper as a discourse reflecting a justified assessment. Our analysis, presented as a case study, concerns the persuasive function of the titles of 53 French and francophone film reviews. In this analysis, the act of persuasion, anchored in Perelman’s (1971) concept of argumentation, corresponds to the rhetorical structure of public discourse. For the act of persuasion, we focus on discursive and stylistic parameters related to the rhetorical principle of “movere” as the basis of the film review’s deliberative (advisory and justifying) dimension. The role of this dimension is to invite the addressee to co-create the meaning of the discourse through the process of co-schematisation, implemented with the help of emotional argumentation in the form of appraisive and affective lexemes. These stylistic devices also constitute a mechanism of persuasion typical of advertising discourse.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the use of stylistic means in contemporary American novels about the challenges of postmodern society, such as terrorist attacks, loneliness in digital reality, and digital technologies. Descriptive, continuous sampling, dictionary definitions, and contextual and component analysis methods were used to analyze the language material from novels by Douglas Coupland and Don DeLillo. The analyzed stylistic units were diverse and characterized by an emotional and evaluative component, with negative assessments being the most common. The units were divided into thematic groups, such as drugs, money, human behavior, and success/failure. The place and role of stylistic units in the novels were related to their content and stylistic features, with colloquial lexical items playing a significant role in creating a special atmosphere. The study also identified prospects for analyzing current trends in the development of English spoken language based on the works of contemporary American authors. The article concludes that excerpts from the analyzed novels can be used in the study of professional terminology and in seminars on the course "Features of literary translation" to help students compare online terminology and Internet jargon in English and Ukrainian. The Internet as an object of fiction and the use of these works of fiction in teaching English deserve further study.

Political discourse is inherently related to the politics of power, which determines its linguistic features. It uses both logical reasoning and manipulative means. The discourse of the political news text, which is the subject of the study, is characterized by increased expressiveness and pragmatics of its influence.Political language is the resource open to all members of the language community, in particular through the media, which is correlated with the specific use of stylistic language means to persuade and manipulate the audience. The goalof this research is the linguistic-pragmatic study of political news texts as a form of political discourse through a comprehensive analysis of stylistic emphatic means. To solve the formulated goal, this paper uses a comprehensive method of researchthat combines methods of modern pragmastylistics, namely: analysis of political discourse in general, analysis of specific political texts, contextual, stylistic, pragmatic, structural-semantic, and lexical-semantic types of analysis. The continuous sampling method was used to select the material under consideration. The authors of the study attempted to analyze and substantiate the pragmatic expediency of using stylistic means of emphatics in political news texts. In particular, the article considers the peculiarities of emphatic expression at the syntactic and lexical levels. It determines that in political news texts at the syntactic level emphatics is mostly expressed through passive constructions, parceling, parallelism, plug-in syntactic structures, rhetorical questions, etc.; at the lexical level –using vocabulary with positive and negative connotations and metaphorization, for which the authors of the news reports –journalists –are “responsible”.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of manipulative syntactic stylistic devices in the English language based on the articles about style, fashion, trends and their place in the sweepingly emerging lifestyle discourse. The relevance of this research is due to the dynamics of the pragmatic design of speech in connection with current changes in the fashion world and society’s attitude to modern trends. The purpose is to systematize manipulative syntactic devices in the English-language media discourse in connection with the actualization of self-expression, individuality, and originality. The study of how these principles are promoted in media discourse could make a significant contribution to discursive research. Articles about style, fashion and trends from the quality press and lifestyle magazines were selected as the empirical material. As a result, the identified devices were subjected to functional and stylistic analysis, which made it possible to classify the main communicative purposes for which various syntactic stylistic devices are used. The authors come to the conclusion that the use of syntactic stylistic devices is conditioned by the manipulative potential of the lifestyle discourse and is concentrated around the following functions: insisting on a certain opinion or attitude, exaggerating the value, endearing the reader.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper examines approaches to the analysis of speech reporting, finding that these approaches fall into two broad categories: traditional approaches which emphasize the syntactic dimension of speech reporting and are informed by an autonomous model of language and discourse pragmatic approaches which emphasize the interaction of syntactic, pragmatic and stylistic factors in discourse. A model for speech reporting strategies in discourse is proposed, involving direct and indirect speech reporting strategies and a ‘lexicalization strategy’. Using this model, a number of approaches to the function of direct speech reporting strategies in the early stages of SLA are reviewed, which analyze the function of direct speech reporting as a ‘compensatory discourse strategy’, not as stylistic variation. It is argued that this analysis is informed by the traditional approach to speech reporting and does not take into account the ‘lexicalization strategy’. When the lexicalization strategy is considered, direct speech is found to function both referentially and stylistically in learner discourse. The argument is illustrated via an analysis of speech reporting in narrative in learner varieties of English and German.

Abstract:
This study critically examined Taylor Swift's Midnights album's stylistic devices, thematic elements, and audience reception, employing a qualitative research design. The corpus consisted of the album's thirteen (13) songs, analyzed through the lens of Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework, encompassing description, interpretation, and explanation, and supplemented by I. R. Galperin’s theory of stylistic devices. Additionally, focus group discussions with Swifties provided insights into fan reception. The analysis identified 135 stylistic devices in the album's lyrics, including metaphor (61 instances, 45.19%), imagery (22 cases, 16.30%), simile (13 instances, 9.63%), Hyperbole (8 instances, 5.93%), personification (8 cases, 5.93%), allusion (3 instances, 2.22%), juxtaposition (1 instance, 1%), epistrophe (1 instance, 1%), and rhyme (1 instance, 1%). The recurring thematic elements in the album encompassed self-realization, self-empowerment, escape and solitude, regret and loss, vulnerability, control and manipulation, reclaiming independence, social pressure and expectation, emotional resonance, emotional detachment, emotional turmoil, acceptance, and rejecting conformity. Swifties' reception of the album revealed emergent themes, including self-reflection, self-reliance, emotional acceptance, love, vulnerability, relatability, anxiety, and pain. This study highlights the complex interplay between stylistic expression, thematic depth, and audience engagement in contemporary music discourse, offering insights into the cultural and emotional impact of Taylor Swift's Midnights.

Adaptation to general tendencies that are independent of the primary cultural system leads to a convergence of stylistic norms, and intercultural differences in technical thinking with a high degree of specialisation are reduced due to the absorption of foreign-language structures. Slovenian technical discourse has been diachronically shaped following the model of more influential linguistic cultural systems, especially German; stylistic analysis is therefore comparatively based on German technical discourse.

Abstract:
The article explores the linguistic and stylistic representation of nomadic identity in literary discourse. The analysis is based on the works of Ukrainian and international authors that reflect a specific vision of space, movement, and self-identification. The methodology combines linguistic stylistic analysis with a discourse-based approach and elements of cognitive linguistics. Key linguistic means that convey the experience of loss, transition, and interaction with the “Other” are identified. It is established that literary text not only reflects historical memory but also actively constructs it, forming flexible models of identity. The findings may be applied in further interdisciplinary research in the fields of culture, language, and literature within the frameworks of postmemory, transculturality, and mobile subjectivity.

Abstract:
Factuality remains the highest virtue of a legal text. The paper finds how this virtue is jeopardized by the presence of logical fallacies. The stylistics analysis is performed for identification of linguistic features of logical fallacies in legal language. Two randomly selected verdicts of the Supreme Court of Pakistan are selected for analysis. Analysis of verdicts reveals that factuality is compromised by fallacies with distinctive stylistic features. These features include the fallacies of relevance, defective induction and ambiguity. Lexical choices, syntactically complicated structure and graphological markers of style contribute to the formation of these fallacies. The findings establish that stylistic aspect themselves contribute to the projection of fallacies in verdicts, therefore, the study recommends avoiding stylistic formulae of the legalese or legal registers which lead to the formation of logical fallacies in the legal language.

Abstract:
In this digital age, the presence of internet memes becomes a common way to share information online. The data were forty memes related to education which were collected from four Instagram groups, namely itb.receh, school_life memoriess, 9gag.com, and memeindonesia.real. This research utilized descriptive qualitative method. The result showed that in stylistic, the most dominant dictions used were slang and denotative. The high frequency of using slang is done as a strategy to express a sense of familiarity to audiences and to show portrait of daily basis situation in students’ lives, while the use of denotative dictions conveys clear understanding and avoid misinterpretation toward these memes. Furthermore, in rhetoric elements, no metaphor is found in the selected memes while graphics is mostly used in the memes to highlight important parts. It was delivered through the production of words in bigger size, bold, different colour, different type of fonts, words which are crossed out, and the use of emoticon. Graphic provides a visual representation for audiences and these highlighted words help them comprehend messages and values which the writer is trying to deliver.

Abstract:
This study analyzes the emotive meanings of three strategies - vocatives/reference forms, desu/masu versus da verb forms, and the use and non-use of the interactional particle yo -in a particular Mode of Japanese discourse. The research site is a television drama series, Majo no Jooken (Conditions of a Witch), that depicts a forbidden love affair. With the chronological development of the relationship between the two main characters in focus, the stylistic shift observed in these strategies is understood in terms of different expressive functions, and as a means for presenting different aspects of selves. The analysis is conducted adopting advanced methodologies in conversation analysis and discourse analysis. This study reveals not only that emotion is imbued and omnipresent in language and interaction, but also and more importantly, that linguistic strategy such as stylistic shift expresses changing emotions between the characters, and, in particular, that stylistic shift indexes changing degrees of intimacy.
