This article deals with deviation in Euphrase Kezilahabi´s novel Gamba la Nyoka (1979). We analyse four different types of deviation, namely grammatical, lexical, phonological, and semantic deviation. The objective of this study is to combine linguistic analysis with literary riticism, in order to show how these different types of deviation correspond with the overall message the author conveys in this novel, which is a political novel dealing with the era of establishing Ujamaa policies in rural Tanzania.

Abstract:

The central theme of the thesis is an in-depth translation criticism of the Austrian novel Die Liebhaberinnen by Elfriede Jelinek in the translation of Jitka Jílková. The criticism is based on the theoretical model of Katharina Reiss which is explored in her work Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Übersetzungskritik. This model is expanded by the role of the editor and translationese style. At the end of the thesis Jitka Jílková is briefly presented, the translation analysis is summarised and evaluated with regard to an interview with the translator about her work.

Abstract:

У магістерській роботі з’ясовано характерні риси та особливості понять «стильові домінанти», «індивідуальний стиль», окреслено місце Осипа Турянського в українському літературному процесі кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ століття. Дипломна робота зосереджена на жанрово-стильових особливостях повісті-поеми Осипа Турянського, художніх образах та розкриттю їх внутрішнього світу. У ході проведення педагогічного експерименту було схарактеризовано особливості індивідуальної поетики письменника на уроці української літератури в 11 класі, подано методичні рекомендації вчителю-словеснику та студенту-практиканту
