Abstract:
Spinal myoclonus is a rare and less known sequel e after central neuraxial blocks and hereby we present a case of 68 yrs old lady undergoing removal of infected femur implant under sub-arachnoid block (SAB), developing myoclonus after the procedure ended but before regression of block. It was treated successfully with an infusion of lignocaine and magnesium sulphate. The patient was called in for follow-up after one week and had no any complains thereafter. Background: Intraoperative pain is a possible complication of neuraxial anaesthesia for caesarean delivery. Possible causes of intraoperative pain following caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia have been proposed. The potential consequences include inadequate anaesthesia, nerve injury during needle insertion, manipulation of internal organs during surgery, and psychological factors such as anxiety and fear. This study was conducted to assess the causes of intraoperative pain among patients undergoing elective caesarean section under sub-arachnoid block at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Me

Sub Arachnoid Block (SAB) is a frequently used popular anaesthetic technique but it is not without complications. The objectives of this retrospective descriptive study was to report and evaluate the complications of SAB in Khulna city, which occurred in a period of 5 years from January 2004 to December 2008. It was a multicentre study. Related data from anesthetic procedure records were collected for above mentioned period. Total 10829 patients were operated under SAB in those centres during the study period. Majority of patients were female (72.22%), mean age was 39 ± 9.78 years, age groups b

Background: Abdominal hysterectomy is often a long duration procedure and warrants intense pain relief in the post-operative period. Dexmedetomidine when added to bupivacaine in subarachnoid block prolongs the duration of surgical anaesthesia, decreases blood loss and prolongs duration of post-operative pain relief. Aims and Objective: To compare two different doses dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant to bupivacaine in sub-arachnoid block in abdominal hysterectomy surgeries. Abstract:
Lower limb surgeries may be performed under local, regional (spinal or epidural) or general anesthesia, but neuraxial blockade is the preferred mode of anesthesia. Sub-arachnoid block or Spinal anaesthesia is the most common central block used in a surgical setting, which is being the most versatile and commonly used regional block. With increasing use of hyperbaric bupivacaine for sub arachnoid block, their limitations like prolongation of onset of sensory and motor blockage effect, short duration of action and early postoperative requirement of an analgesic agent, require an intrathecal adju

Background: Transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block has proven to be an effective component of postoperative pain management for different abdominal procedures particularly in Lower uterine cesarean section (LUCS) done under Sub arachnoid block. Magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) is a N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist has the potential to act as an adjuvant in TAP block. For this reason this study was planned to assess the role of Magnesium Sulphate as an adjuvant to bupivacaine in ultrasound-guided transverse abdominis plane (TAP) blocks for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing LUCS
