Full textThis thesis deals with the emergence of subaltern groups in mainstream television, from Coluche until today. It focuses on two groups, female humorists and ethnic minorities. It questions the agency of humour and its power of displacement of hegemonic media representations, as well as the state of discourses at the moment of the appearance of subaltern groups. It articulates the transformation of comedian into humorist. The buffoon of the late 1970s stands for the figure of contestation of a centralized power, which it comments with a critical gaze. The growth of individualism and expressions of identities turn the comedian into a humorist that assumes a role of actor of the world and a subjective gaze. The analysis of sketches in television talk shows reveals that female humorists expose multiple subjectivities and destabilize the binary system masculine-feminine, by resorting to body acts as parts of humoristic mechanisms. Humorists from ethnic minority groups denounce discriminations and perform hybrid bodies and identities that destabilize the republican model of integration. Their appropriation of stand-up comedy genre renews in 2006 the staging of diversity and of the multiple territories of identities. The period 2007-2010 shows a counter-offensive, a backlash that marks the return to dominant values in the field of humour and denies to subaltern groups the advantages they’ve gained during the previous period. It is characterized by a renewal of humour based on news comments and caricatures, by the hegemonic power of masculine white humorists and the eviction of identity politics

This thesis focuses on category classes and subaltern groups based on Antonio Gramsci and his theorization by Social Service in Brazil in the past decades. The aim of this paper was to examine the theorization of the category classes and subaltern groups by Social Services. The research problematized in what dimension category classes and subaltern groups acquire relevance in the Gramscian thought and how it is theorized by the Social Service. This is a study within theoretical framework, which used bibliographical and documental references for investigation, having Pre-Prison Writings, The Prison Notebooks, with emphasis on Notebook 25 as its main sources, as well as publications from four Social Service authors whom used Gramsci as their reference. Through exploratory, reflective, interpretive and critical readings, the thesis responds to the problem of the investigation, having as results that Gramscis‟ interest on the category classes and subaltern groups is connected to the creation of a methodological historiography of these classes and groups for elaboration of its history and construction of political and revolutionary strategy for overcoming subalternity, as the Brazilian Social Service theorizes Gramscian category classes and subaltern groups as being the conductor thread to overcoming subalternity, related to Professional Ethical-Political Project in reaffirming the compromise with classes and subaltern groups, and in the strategic contribution of social transformation. The results suggest the importance in distinguishing terms such as: subaltern, subalternity and Gramscian category classes and subaltern groups, as well as many levels of subalternity. This thesis proposes widening and use of the politicization of this category by Social Service articulated unit of elaborations, as it refers to overcoming subalternity, as a unit of the revolutionary thought of Antonio Gramsci and the formulation of the researched authors in Social Service. Therefore, it is essential to apprehend the historicity of the category classes and subaltern groups whereas political categories in the traditional Marxist framework on transformation of the capitalist society
Full textThis dissertation analyzes the relationship between popular segments of society - especially the category of domestic workers - with the media, consumerism and beauty. The reason for our choice of domestic workers is because this profession has, simultaneously, many characteristics that allow it to be considered as subaltern: its undervaluation due to hybridizations that come from the times of legal slavery; the current labor laws, very different from the ones regarding other professions; the low income and the mainly feminine character of the profession. Our idea, therefore, is to look at consumers culture - especially the part of it connected to beauty, which comprehends fashion, body and beautifying strategies in general, all of those concepts intimately intertwined with women s history - from the viewpoint of a subaltern group. One of the ways through which consumers culture and hegemonic concepts such as the need for beauty are spread through society is the media, nowadays practically ubiquitous, due to its great accessibility through TV, radio, movies, newspapers, internet, cellphones, graffiti, billboards, waiting rooms etc. Wherever there is a potential consumer to be found, there will be at least one media vehicle. Its ability for content coverage and repetition allows media to be considered a very important intermediator between individuals and the world, becoming a relevant builder and repeater of cultural concepts, which will influence the subjectifying processes in people. In order to investigate this influence, 31 domestic workers in Goiânia were interviewed, with questions about their beauty concepts and their favorite mediatic programs. Both discourses were related to the objective of understanding whether there is a beauty concept carried out by the media, how the domestic workers perceive it, and what are their strategies to comply (or not) to them, assuming that domestic workers may relate to these contents in different ways: by making them their own, by negotiating with them, or even by denying them. That is because it is understood that lower segments of society are in constant relationship with the hegemonic contents, and are therefore co-participants in the forces that build culture day by day.

Full textWhat experiences do individual members have of the Swedish separatist Facebook group Heja Livet? We have conducted qualitative personal interviews from a feminist perspective and have come to the conclusion that the group is contributing with something meaningful. The personal is political and by reading other women’s stories, individual women can achieve a higher feminist consciousness which can contribute to feminist actions. Another finding is that the group can also function as a support in different matters for individual women in their everyday lives. We are presenting a theoretical result, we redefine the meaning of a higher feminist consciousness and argue that Heja Livet can be seen as a consciousness raising group. The fact that most of the interviewed did not share their own experiences in Heja Livet, threatens the construction of the group as a subaltern counterpublic that challenges dominant publics. The white middle class cis-woman is the norm in Heja Livet and we criticize it for not being a successful feminist project because of the lack of an intersectional perspective.
