Abstract:
Purpose This article focuses on toddlers' revisions of the sentence subject and tests the hypothesis that subject diversity (i.e., the number of different subjects produced) increases the probability of subject revision. Method One-hour language samples were collected from 61 children (32 girls) at 27 months. Spontaneously produced, active declarative sentences (ADSs) were analyzed for subject diversity and the presence of subject revision and repetition. The number of different words produced, mean length of utterance, tense/agreement productivity score, and the number of ADSs were also measured. Results Regression analyses were performed with revision and repetition as the dependent variables. Subject diversity significantly predicted the probability of revision, whereas the number of ADSs predicted the probability of repetition. Conclusion The results support the hypothesis that subject diversity increases the probability of subject revision. It is proposed that lexical diversity within specific syntactic positions is the primary mechanism whereby revision rates increase with grammatical development. The results underscore the need to differentiate repetition from revision in the classification of disfluencies.

The main objective of this master&rsquo
s thesis is to analyze the place assigned to human subjectivity by French philosophers Michel Foucault and Gilles Deleuze. In order to fulfil the requirements of this objective, what is focused on is their shared critique which is exercised against the traditional conceptions of humanity and subjectivity. Through the thesis, first Foucault&rsquo
s analyses which demonstrate that universal man as a construction emerges as an effect of discursive practices and power relations, and his archaeological method that illustrates knowledge process is not dependent on transcendental consciousness are explained and discussed. Then it is argued that Deleuzian philosophy of becoming which does not submit to any transcendent unity that governs experience is an actual alternative to subject-centered understandings of the world. Throughout the course of arguments it is emphasized that according to both Foucault and Deleuze the human subject is an effect of network type relations that occur in a non-subjective fashion.

Originally published in 1975, Lavoura Arcaica (Ancient Tillage), written by Raduan Nassar is considered one of the main Brazilian literary productions of the 20th century, being also responsible for many of the author’s awards. The romance follows, in first person, the story of André, middle son of a peasant family, who runs from home to get away to the submissions of the patriarch and to cope with the rejection of the sister after the incestuous act, but returns after the supplications of Pedro, the oldest brother. By the authoritative nexus of the father, always reinforcing the ideas of union and patience, situations of continuous discomfort have to be put up by the protagonist. In order to decipher these relations, the existentialist phenomenology of Merleau-Ponty is used as the theoretical basis. In this approach of Humanist and Cultural Geography, it was possible to identify the diverse tensions that manifests and builds up the place. In the passages which the everyday of the tillage is unraveled, the way the home and the power influx is composed, it was possible to evidence the obtuse and complex feelings that are contraposed in ways that architects a place that is founded on contradictions. André offers a perspective of place that is not a space of bonding, but of attachments. Mainly in the book are the linkages of ancestry, blood, passion, hate, strength, religiousness, survival, bonding, nature, corporeality, imposition, and others; each with its relational possibilities. It is by the way of those attachments that the characters are going to interact at and with the place-Tillage. By the means of the concepts of place-ballet, temporality and home, the notions of the ways by with place and subject are inserted in a profound and tense dialect was reconstructed. In the contrapositions made aware by the limit situations of the novel, it was possible to explore the spatialities of being-in-the-world and comprehend the existential dynamics at the nature of place.
Publicado originalmente em 1975, Lavoura Arcaica, escrito por Raduan Nassar é considerado uma das principais produções literárias brasileiras do século XX, inclusive foi responsável por diversas premiações ao autor. O romance narra, em primeira pessoa, a história de André, filho do meio de uma família campesina, que foge de casa para fugir da submissão aos domínios do patriarca e lidar com a rejeição da irmã após o ato incestuoso, mas volta à pedidos de Pedro, irmão mais velho. Pelo nexo impositivo do Pai-patrão, sempre reforçando as ideias de união e paciência, se colocam situações de contínuo incômodo para o protagonista. Para decifrar essas relações recorreu-se à fenomenologia existencialista, de embasamento em Merleau-Ponty. Nesta abordagem de geografia cultural e humanista, identificou-se as diversas tensões que se manifestam e adensam o lugar. Nas passagens em que desvela os cotidianos da lida com a Lavoura, como se compõe a casa e os fluxos de poder nesse contexto, pôde-se evidenciar como os sentimentos obtusos e rugosos se contrapõem de maneiras a arquitetar um lugar pautado em contradições. André oferece uma perspectiva de lugar que não é um espaço de apego, mas de vínculos. De destaque na obra estão os laços de ancestralidade, sangue, paixão, ódio, força, religiosidade, sobrevivência, apego, natureza, corporeidade, imposição, entre outros; cada qual com suas possibilidades relacionais. É a partir dessas vinculações que os personagens vão interagir no e com o lugar-Lavoura. Por meio dos conceitos de dança-de-lugar, temporalidade e lar, reconstruiu-se noções referentes ao modo pelas quais sujeito e lugar estão inseridos em uma profunda e tensa dialética. Nas contraposições apresentadas pelas situações limítrofes da obra, pode-se explorar as espacialidades do ser-no-mundo e compreender as dinâmicas existenciais presentes na natureza do lugar.

The research shows, first, the limits of the use of the speech place and, later, how this use and these limits affect the political action of the left, of the social movements of the left. The character of the work is theoretical, making an extensive bibliographical review and based on Critical Theory. In the first chapter we make a historical, political and theoretical point about the subject who speaks, the political action of a subject in the many visions within the left thinking. Chapter two deals with the limit of the current sense used to the speech place, namely: a liberal emphasis of politics on individuals, these are considered as an ideological category, the speech place as an individualism obliquely. Finally, it was concluded that the contemporary identity politics, represented by the use of the speech place, shifted the axis of action from the left of the collective to the individual.
A pesquisa procurou demonstrar, inicialmente, os limites do uso do lugar de fala e, posteriormente, como esse uso e esses limites afetam a atuação política da esquerda, dos movimentos sociais de esquerda. O caráter do trabalho é teórico, fazendo uma extensa revisão bibliográfica e tendo como base a Teoria Crítica. No primeiro capitulo faz-se um apontamento histórico, político e teórico referente ao sujeito que fala, a ação política de um sujeito entendida pelas variadas visões dentro do pensamento de esquerda. O capitulo dois trata da aporia do atual sentido empregado ao lugar de fala, qual seja: uma ênfase liberal da política nos indivíduos, estes tidos como uma categoria ideológica, o lugar de fala como um individualismo por via obliqua. Por fim, conclui-se que a política identitária contemporânea, representada pelo uso do lugar de fala, deslocou o eixo de atuação da esquerda da coletividade para o indivíduo.

The subject of historical and cultural research in this monograph was the Institute of ancient servants of pagan cult, including both professional priests (Magi, sorcerers and magicians) and wandering buffoons (musicians, storytellers, guides bears, demons). In the first part of the study identified the main function of ancient Ministers of pagan cults, identified key priestly clans, identified the hierarchical structure of the East Slavic priests, its Charter and the basic sources of financing of the ancient pagan temples and their Ministers. AbstractThis chapter focuses on liberalism and neoliberalism as both constituents and consequences of the emergence of the psy disciplines through specific processes of modernity in the West. It explores the unified Cartesian subject on which psychology initially depended. It addresses American and South African versions of liberalism and their relationship to race. It also addresses the notion of universal humanity and its relation to the idea of complicity, and begins to apply the idea to intersubjective psychology. The chapter also summarizes the place of Freud’s Oedipus complex in this matrix of ideas and history, and the idea of the Western subject that has emerged accordingly, through and for psychology.

Human total joint replacement has become a common place procedure in the past decade, principally to eliminate pain in patients affected by osteoarthritis of the knee, hips, shoulder and spine. While in the past, this was done mostly for older patients with reduced mobility, more recently these replacements are being done for much younger, much more active people. As a result, the artificial joints need larger ranges of motion and are subject to much higher loads, while being required to last longer in place.

Abstract:
This paper concerns an experimental investigation of a NACA 0015 airfoil subject to harmonic one-degree-of-freedom translatory motion. Specifically, unsteady pressure distributions were measured at a range of incidences and movement directions at reduced frequencies matching real life conditions for the lead-lag motion of wind turbine rotors. From the experimental results, hysteresis loops and aerodynamic damping were computed and compared to results from linear quasi-stationary theory and unsteady potential flow theory. The maximum negative aerodynamic damping was found to take place at moderate stall and an incidence of about 15°, at a movement direction close to the chordwise direction. Comparison with unsteady potential flow theory showed excellent agreement with the experimental data for incidences up to 5°. Linear quasi-stationary theory failed to reproduce the overall features of the aerodynamic damping for incidences above 12°.

Abstract:
The design of total temperature probes for accurate measurements in hot, high-speed flows remains a topic of great interest in a number of engineering areas, despite a broad and deep prior literature on the subject. Prediction of error sources from convection, conduction and radiation is still an area of concern. For hot-flow conditions, the probe is normally mounted in a cooled support, leading to substantial axial conduction. Also, radiation plays a very important role in most hot, high-speed conditions. One can apply detailed computational methods for simultaneous convection, conduction and radiation heat transfer, but such approaches are not suitable for rapid, routine design studies. So, there is still a place for approximate analytic methods, and that is the subject of this paper.

The concept of distance learning by advanced educational technology is at present only emerging in Africa. This applies particularly to education and training in information and communication technology (ICT). A learner support system needs to be put in place to assist students to use relevant technologies. Learners in Africa tend to have difficulty understanding the technologies underpinning the ICT era. Research shows that distance learning requires much self-discipline on the part of students. Compared to conventional learning, students tend to become more isolated in distance-learning programmes. Strategies to reduce negative factors should be put in place to ensure the increase of competent ICT specialists in Africa. The strategy recommended here is a multimode strategy incorporating both face-to-face and e-learning into distance learning environments, customized according to subject content.

Abstract:
Many Central Asian countries declaring their independence after the splitting of the Soviet Union, cannot meet the economical and social needs of their citizens by falling much behind of the era in terms of industry despite the natural wealth they have. In addition to all these, the problems in the ruling class and the chaos environment have resulted in the immigration of many people to alternative living spaces. These immigrations have affected labor market both positively and negatively besides the social life. The labor demand increased by the entrance of the immigrants into the market has affected the employee wages and also this situation has affected the life standards of the citizens. In this study, the immigration that took place in the countries established after the splitting of the Soviet Union, forming one of the two poles of the world before the cold war, and the effects of this immigration on the labor market have been analyzed considering previous studies on the subject. The studies carried out on this subject have yielded various results according to the area in which it’s carried out, the time interval it includes, and the period’s structure. For this reason, the points of views on the subject are compared by making a long literature review.

Over the last two decades the Slussen in Stockholm designed by Tage William-Olsson in 1935 has been the subject of an intense debate about how to update it to the contemporary needs. Tabula rasa, reconstruction or renovation? This lively discussion, however, has resulted in a final proposal granted by the expertise of an international firm but controversial for its political management, opposed to several social groups and, above all, highly problematic in terms of urban form and sustainability. The strategic location of this place, the indelible presence of its modern shape in the collective imaginary or the overwhelming force of the new paradigms of public space, have ended up provoking a range of more than twenty-five proposals in a short period of time. But while today this process seems to be settled and the demolition works of the original structure has already started, it would be still useful to draw some conclusions relevant to other similar interstitial sites in European compact cities where architecture, infrastructure, public space and landscape meet in such an intense way. Thus, this paper summarizes some of the last arguments of the on-going doctoral thesis about the recent evolution of Slussen according to four different outstanding topics: the form of place and history as an undeniable premise; the strength of tactics versus the power of the image in the process; the importance of time in the sequence of urban decision-making and, finally, the weight of urban culture as a key argument in contemporary urban transformation processes.

Belgoprocess is momentarily in the process of purchasing its fifth NDA-system. Measurement systems are, although based on general designs, not from the shelf items but tailormade sophisticated and highly automated devices. It is obvious that such a project cannot be carried out by solely a NDA team, but needs a multifunctional team. This team combines NDA expertise with experts in civil works, electrical and mechanical engineering, procurement, IT, safety and legal administration. From less positive experiences in the past, Belgoprocess learned a lot and has now a systematic in place. This systematic structures the project from definition of requirements to operation, a two to three year process. This paper defines the phases of a NDA project and gives for each phase some do’s and don’ts. A second subject is the writing and handling of the vast but needed and required documentation. It gives a brief overview of the over thirty documents and files needed. The described, integrated and formal approach reduces the risk of failing projects, systems not meeting the expectations or denied qualification. It puts clear agreements in place, smoothening the relationship between company, supplier and authorities.

Abstract:
Some recent projects have required pipeline routings from cluster wells to platforms or FPSOs along undulating seabed with lengthy route bends, escarpment and change of slope features. The operational in-place stability of the relatively light insulated pipelines was the primary design concern, and was compounded by interactions between seabed induced global buckling and pipeline walking due to significant seabed slope. In addition, onerous weld defect criteria limited the extent of allowable bending to which the HP/HT pipelines can be subject during their through-life operation. This necessitated the development of reliable planned buckle schemes which would work with periodic pipeline anchors placed along the lengths of the routes of these pipelines to control walking and associated bend and planned buckle pull-out during routine start-up/shutdown operational cycles. Pipe-soil interaction guidance such as SAFEBUCK and project-specific pipe soil testing results had significant influences on realistic simulation of through-life in-place stability. A state of the art reliability tool was developed for these projects based on guidance available in the public domain and the characteristic 3D global buckle formations evident along operational pipelines with a significantly undulating seabed.

Abstract:
One of the leading Western Ukrainian diaspora journals – London «Liberation Way», founded in January 1949, has become the subject of the study for the first time in journalism. Archival documents and materials of the Ukrainian Publishing Union in London and the British National Library (British Library) were also observed. The peculiarities of the magazine’s formation and the specifics of the editorial policy, founders and publishers are clarified. A group of OUN members who survived Hitler’s concentration camps and ended up in Great Britain after the end of World War II initiated the foundation of the magazine. Until April 1951, including issue 42, the Board of Foreign Parts of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists were the publishers of the magazine. From 1951 to the beginning of 2000 it was a socio-political monthly of the Ukrainian Publishing Union. From the mid-60’s of the twentieth century – a socio-political and scientific-literary monthly. In analyzing the programmatic principles of the magazine, the most acute issues of the Ukrainian national liberation movement, which have long separated the forces of Ukrainian emigration and from which the founders and publishers of the magazine from the beginning had clearly defined positions, namely: ideology of Ukrainian nationalism, the idea of ​​unity of Ukraine and Ukrainians, internal inter-party struggle among Ukrainian emigrants have been singled out. The review and systematization of the thematic palette of the magazine’s publications makes it possible to distinguish the following main semantic accents: the formation of the nationalist movement in exile; historical Ukrainian themes; the situation in sub-Soviet Ukraine; the problem of the unity of Ukrainians in the Western diaspora; mission and tasks of Ukrainian emigration in the context of its responsibilities to the Motherland. It also particularizes the peculiarities of the formation of the author’s assets of the magazine and its place in the history of Ukrainian national journalism.

Abstract:
In the article we interpret discrete and continuous message as interrupted and constant, limited and continual text, which has specific features and a number of differences between traditional (one-dimensional) text and hypertext (multidimensional). The purpose of this study is to define the concept of “hypertext”, consideration of its characteristics and features of the structure, similarities and differences with the traditional text, including the message in the media and communication. To achieve the goal of the study, we used a number of methods typical of journalism. Empirical analysis enabled a generalized description of the subject of study, which allowed to know it as a phenomenon. With the help of generalization the characteristic and specific regularities and principles of hypertext were studied. The system method is used to identify the dependence of each element of hypertext on its place in the text system as a whole. The retrospective method helped to understand the preconditions for the emergence of hypertext, to trace the dynamics of its development. General scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction) made it possible to formulate the conclusions of the study. Thanks to hypertext and the hypertext systems, the concept of virtual reality has gained tangible meaning. In hypertext space, virtuality organically complements reality. The state of virtuality, in this case, becomes the concept of hyperreality, and all this merges into a single whole in the space of computer text. Due to its volume and multidimensionality, hypertext can arouse scientific interest as an interdisciplinary discipline. In today’s world, the phenomenon of hypertext has been the subject of numerous discussions, conferences and research in the field of social communications, linguistics and psychology. Today, a significant number of organizations conduct large-scale research based on the concepts of hypertext associations and associative navigation.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the main forms of visualization in the media related to photo. The thematic visual concepts are described in accordance with the content of electronic media, which consider the impact of modern technologies on the development of media space. The researches of the Ukrainian and foreign educational institutions concerning the main features of modern photo is classificate. Modifications and new visual forms in the media are singled out. The main objective of the article is to study the visual concepts of modern photo and identify ideological and thematic priorities in photo projects. To achieve the main objective in the article a certain methodology were used. Due to the historical-theoretical description it was possible to substantiate the study of visual concepts. The conceptual-system method was used to study the subject of media photo projects. The main results of the research are the definition of visual concepts of photo on the example of electronic media and the identification of the main thematic features in the process of visual filling of the media space. Based on the study, we can conclude that today the information field needs quality visual content. For successful creation of visual concepts it is necessary to single out thematic features of modern photo and to carry out classifications on ideological and semantic signs. Given the rapid development of digital technologies, the topic of the scientific article we offer is relevant for scientists, journalists, media researchers, visual journalism experts and photojournalists. Modern space is filled with a large number of pictorial materials, which in most cases form specific images, patterns or stereotypes in the mind of the reader (viewer). Also important is the classification of photo used in journalistic publications. That is why there is a need to explore the content and principles of distribution of ideological priorities of photo in the media. The substantiation of scientists about the important place of photography in the modern media space and the future development of visual technologies, which already use artificial intelligence, is relevant.
