Abstract:
In this paper, we consider several problems related to the so-called multi-valued Feng–Liu–Subrahmanyan contractions in complete metric spaces. Existence of the fixed points and of the strict fixed points, as well as data dependence and stability properties for the fixed point problem, are discussed. Some results are presented, under appropriate conditions, and some open questions are pointed out. Our results extend recent results given for multi-valued graph contractions and multi-valued Subrahmanyan contractions.

Abstract:
The extraordinary achievements of Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar (Chandra) have guided and inspired many younger astrophysicists. The brief survey seeks to highlight a few specific cases in India where, through his writings, lectures and discussions, Chandra made a lasting impact. It will be argued that although at a general, somewhat superficial level, Chandra is a light beacon to be followed, very few Indian astrophysicists reached a level where they could engage Chandra in a scientific discussion on a topic that interested him.

AbstractEpisodic activity in super-massive black holes is shown by radio galaxies exhibiting ‘double-double’ radio morphologies (Subrahmanyan et al. 1996, Schoenmakers et al. 2000). Spectacular examples showing a renewal of beam activity in the form of new beams emerging within relic radio lobes of previous activity have placed the phenomenon of recurrence in AGN outflows on a firm footing.By using the SUMSS and WENSS GRG samples, we infer that on timescales of order a few million years, low luminosity radio sources are more likely to exhibit episodic behaviour in the accretion on to their sup

Abstract:
In this paper, we present some fixed point results for Subrahmanyan contraction in the setting of a b-metric space. We consider the case of multivalued operators. We also deduce the Ulam–Hyers stability property of the fixed point inclusion. The notion of b-metric generalizes the one of a metric, as in the third condition, the right-hand side is multiplied by a real number greater than 1. We remark that the second axiom, i.e., the one which shows the symmetry of the b-metric, remains unchanged. The findings presented in this paper extend some recent results which were proved in the context of

Beginning with an odd incident provoked by Arthur Eddington, Britain’s preeminent astrophysicist in the 1910s and 1920s, cycles of intellectual births and deaths became the pattern of Chandra’s creative life in science. Lalitha describes this unique approach in a remembrance: “Each field, or cycle . . . took from ten to fifteen years, for the selection o

After all, you might think that scientists simply discover truths by looking at the world; though of course, by using some very fancy equipment. The astrophysicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar said that when he discovered a new fact, it appeared to him to be something “that had always been there and that I had chanced to pick up” (quoted in Farmelo, 2002a, pp. xi-xii).
