Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to produce an experimental design for determining the viscosity coefficient using jetAudio and Subtitle Edit software, and determining the value of the fluid viscosity coefficient by using this experimental design. In this study, the type of fluid used is packaged cooking oil, and the object used is a magnetic ball. The method proposed by the author to measure the travel time of the magnetic ball in cooking oil is by using the combination of coil sensors, jetAudio, and Subtitle Edit. JetAudio software will record magnetic induction traces as the magnetic ball passes the coils into audio format, Subtitle Edit software is used to determine travel time of the magnetic ball based on jetAudio recording data. The results of this study are jetAudio and Subtitle Edit can be used in fluid viscosity coefficient experiments. The value of the cooking oil viscosity coefficient obtained from this study is 0,561431096 Pa.s.

Abstract:
We demonstrate the potential for using aligned bilingual word embeddings in developing an unsupervised method to evaluate machine translations without a need for parallel translation corpus or reference corpus. We explain different aspects of digital entertainment content subtitles. We share our experimental results for four languages pairs English to French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and present findings on the shortcomings of Neural Machine Translation for subtitles. We propose several improvements over the system designed by Gupta et al. [P. Gupta, S. Shekhawat and K. Kumar, Unsupervised quality estimation without reference corpus for subtitle machine translation using word embeddings, IEEE 13th Int. Conf. Semantic Computing, 2019, pp. 32–38.] by incorporating custom embedding model curated to subtitles, compound word splits and punctuation inclusion. We show a massive run time improvement of the order of [Formula: see text] by considering three types of edits, removing Proximity Intensity Index (PII) and changing post-edit score calculation from their system.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to develop a fluid viscosity coefficient apparatus using computer application that is easily obtained and used, namely jetAudio and Subtitle Edit software. The research was conducted at Physics laboratory in STKIP Singkawang and 5 secondary schools in Singkawang City. The feasibility level of this apparatus is known through validation by experts. Validation was carried out by 3 physics lecturers. The results of the validation stage were used for user tests by 10 STKIP Singkawang students. From the results of the analysis obtained 1) the results of validation by tool experts amounted to 91.1% which were interpreted very good, 2) the results of validation by material and content experts amounted to 91.9% which were interpreted very good, and 3) the results of user tests conducted by students showed the percentage of responses at 71.35% which was interpreted good. Thus the apparatus is feasible to use and can be an alternative in physics learning that can improve students' skills and conceptual understanding.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste artigo é descrever o passo a passo metodológico para criação de corpora de legendas, retiradas de obras audiovisuais, como filmes e séries de TV, que pode servir a pesquisadores que trabalham no campo da Tradução Audiovisual e dos Estudos da Tradução Baseados em Corpus. O ponto de partida para a descrição ora introduzida baseou-se na pesquisa de Silva (2018), na qual foram apresentados passos para compilação, edição e preparação de corpora de legendas da série de TV Star Trek: Enterprise, utilizando-se programas razoavelmente conhecidos, como o Google Chrome, Bloco de Notas, Subtitle Edit, Microsoft Word e Excel. No presente artigo, entende-se que os passos aqui apresentados se estabelecem como sugestões de futuros percursos metodológicos a serem seguidos em pesquisas nas áreas supramencionadas.

 ABSTRACT: The purpose of this article is to describe the step-by-step process for the creation of subtitles corpora, extracted from audiovisual works, such as films and TV series, that may be useful for researchers in the field of Audiovisual Translation and Corpus-Based Translation Studies. The starting point for such description is based on the research of Silva (2018), in which steps for compiling, editing and preparing corpora subtitles of the TV Series Star Trek: Enterprise were presented, using such reasonably known programs as Google Chrome, Notepad, SubtitleEdit, Microsoft Word and Excel. In the present article, it isunderstood that the steps introduced hereinare suggestions intended as future methodological stepsto be followed in research done in the aforementioned areas.

Abstract:
Polish Subtitling in the 1930s This article presents the results of an archival study on Polish subtitling of pre-WWII films (until 1939). The main focus will be on the technical aspects of subtitling in Poland in the 1930s, such as the number of lines, number of characters per line, and subtitle display times. We will show the development of Polish film translation in its initial phase. In our article, we will present previously unpublished pictures of early film subtitles, which come from original archival research. Contrary to some previous claims, film translation did not start with the introduction of sound in films – which occurred in Poland in the 1929/30 cinema season. Prior to that, in the silent cinema period, intertitles were a tested way of delivering content to the viewer. And these silent movies’ intertitles were translated. Copies of various foreign films have even been preserved with Polish intertitle translation rather than the original intertitles. Imitating intertitles in silent films, subtitles began to appear in films with sound and dialogue. These were “inserted subtitles” – between scene edits. Only later were subtitles burnt into the image, which began modern film subtitling.

Abstract:
This self-published book is clearly the product of a frustrated researcher. The subtitle alone provides an accurate insight into Cox’s thinking. That said, anyone who has been around these fields for any length of time can share a sense of frustration. Listening to any number self-anointed experts, and even charlatans, who populate the fields of the paranormal, can be exasperating. Yes, tall tales abound. Unfortunately, there are no lower limits to crazy that will not attract a following. Such is the nature of studying unexplained phenomena.
 The publication does not appear to have been professionally edited, as one finds both grammatical and contextual errors. Cox contracted with a company called Outskirts Press; one that specializes in physically printing self-published books. In checking with them, I found they do offer an editing service. The author would have been better served to have paid for that option, as there are many incomplete sentences and other grammatical errors. As an established author, I believe attempting to edit your own material is fraught with danger. That is the position I believe most frequently published and serious authors would agree with.
 Mechanically speaking, The Fall of the Ufology appears to be designed for an e-publication, as opposed to a print format. That is because there are many Internet sites that are listed and that I suspect can be directly accessed in electronically published form. The contextual format changes significantly throughout the book. Some of it is straight nonfiction statements of fact, but that is often followed by side commentary as if one were attending a social gathering.
 While the title implies the singular topic is UFOs, it digresses into many other areas. He takes significant liberties in defining, or redefining, terms that have been around for many years, even centuries. Seemingly, Cox does view himself as the arbiter of acceptability of terms. As an example, he proffers “Anomalogy” as a new term which he defines “as a person who studies anomalies,” as opposed to parapsychology or ufology. In many ways, what Cox puts forth many of us would view as a blinding flash of the obvious. The notion of the interrelationship between various fields in the study of phenomena has been addressed for decades. Several authors, including Jacques Valle and myself, have written extensively on this matter.
 On a hypocritical note, Cox simultaneously admonishes Ufologists who present outlandish opinions at conferences, and then destroys his own credibility by accepting extreme conspiracy theories. While addressing his own UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena) sightings, he states that he believes the craft as being of man-made origin. That, even though he witnessed events that would be beyond our currently known technical capabilities. Specifically, on page 32 he states, “I believe now that somehow we on earth have been given this technology from ‘Outside Intelligence.’” Here, I am admittedly biased, but have explicitly eliminated that possibility in my own UFO writings. The notion that the US government has reverse-engineered a crashed UFO is not new. But as I have pointed out, if such technology existed, making small craft that flit about would be trivial compared to the fundamental understanding of an entirely new energy source. Such a capability would undeniably alter our strategic interests and geopolitical landscape forever.

With the development of network technology, it’s a trend to put up a bridge between the teaching resources and the learners. The network courseware is the most important part in Distance Education. A courseware recording and editing system is presented in this article. Using the Visual C++ 6.0 as design platform, the multimedia courseware recorder and player in this system is developed by using DirectShow technique, and the multimedia courseware editor is developed by using non-linearity edit system DES (DirectShow Editing Services). The system realizes the “Multi-Stream-In-One” (integrated of 2 video streams, 1 PC screen stream, and 1 stereo audio stream), and can add captions, subtitles and background music .etc. The generated courseware is an important resource for Distance Education, and can be widely used in daily teaching.

Suisheng Zhao has assembled this volume from articles recently published in the Journal of Contemporary China, which he edits. Its chapters cover recognizable terrain for political scientists: whether China, as a rising power, will seek to maximize its relative or absolute gains; the likelihood its increasing power will tend towards status-quo or belligerent lines; and the degree of Chinese ‘exceptionalism’ when compared with other countries. As the subtitle might suggest, the contributions present China in a favourable light, stressing how China's leaders have spurned ideological purism for the pragmatic weighing of national interests, with only nationalism to serve as a double-edged sword by conferring legitimacy on the government, but potentially also taking it away. The assertion that strategic calculations govern Chinese foreign policy contrasts with other interpretations, such as those of David Lampton in Same Bed, Different Dreams, who assigns a large role to domestic politics, or Peter Gries in Understanding Chinese Nationalism, who highlights the constraining role of nationalist ideology on the ability of China's leaders to de-escalate crises with other countries. Zhao's contribution lies less in defending the assertion of pragmatism against those competing perspectives and more in drawing upon it in offering fresh material.

Abstract:
L’obiettivo dell’elaborato è favorire l’ampliamento del mercato dell’azienda agricola Rio del Sol nei paesi germanofoni. In particolare, viene tradotto in lingua tedesca il sito web aziendale, estremamente importante per la presentazione su scala internazionale dei prodotti e per lo sviluppo dell’e-commerce, risorsa fondamentale, specialmente in questo periodo segnato dall’emergenza da Coronavirus. Infatti, ora più che mai, molti preferiscono fare acquisti comodamente da casa. Quindi, la localizzazione di siti web, destinata a marcare il nostro futuro, rappresenta la nuova frontiera della traduzione. La localizzazione del sito web Rio del Sol viene fatta con l’aiuto di DeepL, strumento di traduzione automatica, del quale si cerca di valutare l’efficacia. In più, tale lavoro comporta molteplici competenze e non si limita alla mera traduzione di alcuni testi: un sito web, come quello di Rio del Sol, si articola spesso in numerose voci di menu contenenti link extra-testuali ad articoli di giornale o testi audiovisivi. Infatti, l’elaborato affronta anche la localizzazione di un articolo apparso su Corriere Romagna e di un’intervista alla titolare dell’azienda pubblicata su YouTube da Italia nel Bicchiere. Il primo capitolo dell’elaborato tratta, perciò, delle caratteristiche del sito web Rio del Sol e delle particolarità della localizzazione del sito stesso e dell’articolo di giornale. Viene inoltre descritto l’utilizzo dei programmi OmegaT e SDL Trados Studio, necessari per la creazione di documenti in lingua tedesca. Il secondo capitolo si concentra, invece, sulla sottotitolazione del video pubblicato su YouTube, descrivendone norme e realizzazione tramite Subtitle Edit. Infine, il terzo capitolo analizza il lavoro svolto da DeepL, valutando se si tratti di un basilare software per la traduzione automatica o di un efficiente supporto al post-editing. Per trarre conclusioni valide vengono utilizzate pubblicazioni accademiche e l’esperienza maturata in corso d’opera.
