A series of 5′-amido derivatives of 5-(2″-thienyl)-2′,3′,5′-β-trideoxyuridine were prepared. The compounds were tested for their inhibition of cellular DNA polymerase α and α HIV-RT. The succinic fumaric and maleic acid derivatives of 5-(2″-thienyl)-2′,3′,5′-β-trideoxyuridine were investigated. None of the compounds inhibited HIV-RT. The fumaric acid derivative inhibited DNA pol α with IC50 33 μg ml−1. The succinic acid derivative was about half as active with IC50 76 μg ml−1. The 5′-N-acyl derivatives also were structurally compared to the monomethyl ester of the triphosphate using the Sybyl

Mono-derivatives of alkenyl succinic acid are considered in this paper, also their complexes with copper and nickel ions, which structure was studied by IR spectrometry method. Protonization constants and stability constants of complexes of mono-derivatives of succinic acid with copper and nickel ions are calculated by pH-metric titration method. It has been established, that mono-derivatives of succinic acid formed more stable complexes with the copper ion.

ABSTRACT Anaerobic degradation of 2-methylnaphthalene was investigated with a sulfate-reducing enrichment culture. Metabolite analyses revealed two groups of degradation products. The first group comprised two succinic acid adducts which were identified as naphthyl-2-methyl-succinic acid and naphthyl-2-methylene-succinic acid by comparison with chemically synthesized reference compounds. Naphthyl-2-methyl-succinic acid accumulated to 0.5 μM in culture supernatants. Production of naphthyl-2-methyl-succinic acid was analyzed in enzyme assays with dense cell suspensions. Abstract The protection of metals against corrosion by means of volatile compounds is the most progressive method of fighting metallic corrosion. These inhibitors are used to protect metallic articles and equipment during storage and transportation. In view of this we have synthesized six organic volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCIs) using Lauric hydrazide with various acids such as cinnamic acid, succinic acid, nitrobenzoic acid, phthalic acid and maleic acid and evaluated their inhibiting action on corrosion of mild steel, copper, brass, zinc and aluminium by weight loss and potentiodynamic p

Abstract Temporary corrosion inhibiting coatings are applied to metal articles for protection during manufacture, transportation or storage. Various sulfonates or carboxylic acids are often used in such corrosion inhibiting coatings. Combinations of sulfonates and carboxylic acids are generally more effective than the same level of either alone.1 This effect is demonstrated for calcium and sodium dinonylnaphthalene sulfonate with a succinic acid derivative and an oxidized petrolatum.
