Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Chocolate is a Sucre trademark, one of the few products that this Bolivian city regularly markets to other parts of the country. Despite Sucre's long history of chocolate production, however, the city's chocolate industry at the turn of the twenty-first century remains small, unable to export, and generally uncompetitive with products from neighboring countries. Yet Sucre's chocolate-making enterprises have not disappeared; they continue to produce on a small scale in the face of mass-produced, imported brands. In this article, the history of Sucre's chocolate industry is examined to shed light on larger issues of industrial development and “underdevelopment” in Sucre and on the roots of the city's strong artisan identity.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to determine the level of noise exposure to workers and to recommend how to manage the occupational high level of noise, understanding the workers noise exposure and providing personal ear protectors is the responsibility of employers. After visiting almost all the industries it was noticed that none of these industries are following these requirements. Knowing that expo- sure to excessive noise can cause health problems including temporary or permanent hearing loss, concentration problems, stress, nerv- ousness, sleeping problems and fatigue. The noise levels was measured in different industrial settings in North Cyprus using a noise detecting equipment, cirrus 273 integrated sound level meter with octave band filters. The Safety and health standards for noise exposure were used as the benchmark for our data analysis. Questionnaires were designed to determine how much employees were affected by high noise levels in the workplace. Data’s were analyzed using SPSS statistical program. Survey responses identified the most likely problems faced by industrial workers in North Cyprus. Sound level mapping informed worker noise exposure. It was found the most of the workers were exposed to high level of noise so therefore future studies will focus on industries with the highest noise levels, monitor- ing worker noise exposure using a dosimeter. The use of engineering method is considered best in reducing the high level of noise in these Industries.

Abstract:
English Title: Effect of Garcinia kola (Clusiaceae) in the fermentation processes of sugar cane wine (<i>Saccharum officinarum</i> ; Poaceae) in Gabon Sugarcane nectar (Saccharum officinarum L.) is used in Gabon not only for the production of industrial sugar, but also for the traditional synthesis of local wines called ''Musungu'' or ''Malamba''. These alcoholic syntheses require the use of many adjuvants whose exact role remains poorly defined. The present work was undertaken to study one of them, the bitter wood (Garcinia kola) used in various alcoholic syntheses. The methodology consisted of analyzing the evolution of certain of physicochemical and biochemical qualities of 1 l of sugar cane nectars alone (control), associated with the lees of old cane wines (Li), bitter wood (Gk) or 2 amendments (LG), before and after 4 weeks of fermentation. The results obtained revealed the decrease of the acidity, the density and the total sugars in all the treatments tests, contrary to the controls, after the 28 days of incubation. On the other hand, all the treatments (tests and controls) produced alcohols with high contents of between 7.4 °GL and 9.9 °GL. But the wines of the control treatments, although very alcoholic, have all been judged as sour and of very poor taste quality. Bitter wood therefore does not appear to be involved in the processes of alcoholic fermentation, but in the constitution of organoleptic qualities, by preventing the proliferation of lactic acid bacteria. Thus, in order to optimize the quality of the wine, identifying the germs involved in the fermentation of cane nectar, under the influence of Garcia kola seems to be necessary. Keywords: Nectar, Yeasts, Additive, Alcohol, Organoleptic quality.

Warfare, according to the thesis advocated in the article, has become industrialized within a few decades. One of the consequences was that since then only rarely battles have been lead face to face. Another result was a change in the way the military had to prepare for war. After presenting a short overview the articles proceeds to deal with objectification tendencies in regard to death, which also began to develop in pre-industrial periods.

Abstract:
There is a tendency to design biological units for chemical or petrochemical wastewater treatment. Some of these treatment plants are even sometimes used for the degradation of any external industrial sewage transported for the purpose. In this case, the decision to accept or refuse the waste must be rapid and sure. The aim of this paper is to propose a new treatability test based on a direct far UV photooxidation of the sample, coupled with a UV spectrophotometric survey of the waste quality. The test has been applied on different samples from chemical and petrochemical industries and the results have been compared to those obtained with more classical tests, as for example, biodegradation tests using either air or pure oxygen. For most of the samples, quite good correlation has been observed between the photooxidation test and biodegradation. The UV treatability test is currently used for checking up on petrochemical wastewater and chemical sewage.

This paper demonstrates three phases of ergonomic research in the design of a mouse and discusses the value of a concurrent, interactive approach to ergonomics, industrial design and product development. Ergonomics worked in conjunction with industrial design, engineering and marketing to ensure that optimal comfort for the user was a continual focus throughout the product development process. Research phases included 1) the development of ergonomic criteria and the inclusion of ergonomics in the product definition, 2) the ergonomic review and user testing analysis of the design prototype and 3) the verification of ergonomic aspects of the design. The need for different types of ergonomic information at different phases in the product development process, and the value of maintaining an end-user focus throughout the interaction of ergonomics, industrial design and the whole of the product development team are discussed.

Abstract:
BackgroundOne of the aspects of work sustainability concerns workers’ intention to stay at the current job until retirement age. While psychosocial work conditions are expected to influence workers’ intention to stay, its distributions across occupations and the associations with psychosocial work factors have not been well understood.MethodsWe analyzed data from a national survey conducted in 2010, consisting of 11 209 male and 8189 female workers aged between 25 to 55 years old. Intention to stay at the current job was assessed by a single question: ‘Thinking of your health status, would you expect yourself to stay at the current job at age of 60 years old?’. Responses were coded as ‘probably yes’, ‘probably not’, ‘not sure’ and ‘not willing’. We regrouped ‘probably not’ and ‘not willing’ as ‘no intention’. Information concerning age, educational attainment, occupation type and psychosocial work factors were also assessed by the questionnaire.ResultsDescriptive analyses showed that 14.2% and 17.1% of male and female workers did not intend to stay the current job at the age of 60 years old. Lack of intention was more prevalent in younger workers, workers with lower employment grade and workers in certain industrial sectors including electronics manufacturing industries for both genders and health care industry for female workers. Workers in these industries were also significantly younger than those in other industries. Findings from multivariate logistic regression models indicated that lack of intention to stay was associated with nonstandard work shift, higher psychosocial demands, physically demanding work, lower job control and higher job insecurity.ConclusionA substantial proportion of workers lack of intention to stay at the current job until old age. We suggest that improving work conditions may help to keep workers in employment until old age, especially among workers in socioeconomic lower positions.

Abstract:
This paper models and estimates the occurrence of natural disaster in Nigeria using the residual-based test for cointegration within an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) framework and error correction specification between the period 1970 and 2016, the results from the estimated static model shows that DLOG(TEM), LOG(GDPC) and LOG(URB) are long-run determinants of natural disasters in Nigeria. The short run error correction model results revealed that the coefficients of DLOG(CO2), DLOG(WIS), LOG(GDPC), LOG(URB), DLOG(GDPC(-2)) and LOG(URB(-1))seem to be significant and helpful in explaining the occurrence of natural disaster (NAD)in Nigeria. The error correction term shows that speed of adjustment of disequilibrium in natural disaster (NAD) in the previous year which is corrected in the current year is about 44.3 percent. Therefore, Nigerian government should among other recommendations embark on reducing urbanization growth by making sure that industries which forge linkages with rural occupations should be promoted to mitigate a high rural-urban migration. Establishing of very effective early warning systems for meteorological, geophysical, biological, social and industrial hazards should be ensured.

English title: Removal of liquid waste pollutants from a sugar production unit using natural clays from Côte d'IvoireThe impact of industrial liquid waste on the environment remains a reality and a threat to groundwater and surface water quality. Among the existing depollution methods, the pollutants adsorption on natural clays remains a less expensive, available and easily usable method. Most studies on the ability of clays to remove pollutants are done with artificial liquid wastes whose concentrations are controlled. The objective of this study was to eliminate the pollutants in the liquid waste of an industrial agronomic sugar production unit using two natural clays from Côte d'Ivoire. Three sources of liquid wastes from the UIA's analysis laboratory activities. Treatment with clays showed varying degrees of removal of pollutants. The following parameters were measured before and after the clay treatment: pH, conductivity, turbidity, total suspended solids, total phosphorus, total nitrogen, copper, zinc, lead and mercury. The values of these parameters are compared to the national standard. Katiola clay exhibits higher abilities to remove pollutants compared to Anyama clay. This study confirms the value of using clays for depollution. Keywords: Wastewater, heavy metals, pollution, clays, adsorption.

Abstract:
The resilient behavior of Spanish industrial sectors (2008-2014): an empirical analysisAbstract: As a consequence of the economic and financial crisis during 2008 and 2014, this paper shows how the Spanish industrial sectors had developed some resilient profiles to tackle the former impact of crisis and react through adaptive strategies. The gain of experience in the period reveals some learning to approach industrial and enterprise policies. The qualification and numbers of human capital, together some efforts to support equipment and marketing operative capacities of firms, are bastions to build Resilience in industrial sectors, as demonstrate an empirical multivariable regression model tested in this article. The measure of Resilience deserves three main approaches into scholar literature. The first, Preventive, reflects how vulnerable is the economic or industrial system, to detail which conditions and intensity of them are possible without any permanent deterioration. Second, Positive, allows a better understanding of behavior of system into a risky or handicapped situations, before it reaches limits of collapse. Finally, a third approach focus on capacities for assessment and evaluation of systems and benchmark, to identify knowledge and learning elements under schemes of Better Practices and Success Cases. Under a model of lineal multivariable regression had been calculated 12 functions of Resilience (Dependent variable) for other 12 industrial sectors, based on aggregations and data (2008-2014) of National Statistics Office (INE). The robustness of model had been tested at 1% of confidence level, without significant lineal dependence between independent (regressor) variables (drivers of Resilience), measured through Durbin-Watson´s Coefficient values. According results, a 42% of sectors had a Resilience level upper average (Mean) combined with a low volatility (Standard Deviation). In this group were Chemical Pharmaceuticals, Food Drinks, Rubber Plastics, Motor and Diverse Manufacturing, sectors. The main drivers of this resilient behavior were a stable level of RD investment and Purchases into EU. A 16% of sectors (Extractive Industries and Metals) also shown a resilient profile but volatile (SD upper average), based on Human Capital, a stable effort in RD investment and Sales into EU. Finally, other 42% of sectors (Textile, Machinery, Wood, Electric Electronics and No metals industries) were less resilient, based on Human Capital and their capacity to sell into EU. The results of this work continue a promissory field of research on how to build Resilience, how to increase the role of drivers that provide Resilience into economic and industrial systems and a better understanding on how manage it, nevertheless undesired impacts. The measure of risks and how vulnerability of systems can be afford, based on their own capacities to induce first resilience and recovery after, should be completed with a deeper search of mechanisms to operate into the black box of systems and which tools would be used by industrial and enterprise policies, to sure a faster transit from troubled situations into a recovery and new friendly scenarios for new jobs, confidence and inclusive growth.Key words: resilience, industrial sectors, adaptive strategies.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to utilize the concept of arbitration by subrogation as a means to increase recoveries of indemnities paid out to exporters or any financial institutions by K-SURE, an export credit agency of Korea, against possible non-payment or breach of obligations from the buyer or the buyer’s country. It looks into the possibility of K-SURE and KCAB reactivating its 2004 MOU to give more jurisdictional protection to K-SURE’s indemnities recovery transactions. Design/methodology/approach This paper first introduces a brief elucidation about export insurance provided by K-SURE and the necessity of arbitration in the export insurance, and a summary of a subrogation arbitration case referred to the KCAB by K-SURE in 2005. Cognizant of the 2004 MOU between K-SURE and KCAB, as well as the foreign and domestic developments in arbitration, the paper then analyzes legal principles of subrogation by insurer, as well as domestic and overseas precedents on the matters of assignment of claim and arbitration by subrogation. Findings While it appears that there is still no universally recognized authority nor established court precedents applying arbitration by subrogation, the authors discovered that similar to Korea, most of leading courts in the world have consistently held that the assignee can request and be requested for arbitration pursuant to the arbitration agreement contained in the assigned contract. The paper concludes that the K-SURE now can be admitted as a party having proper standing in the arbitration proceedings so long as the specific claim right under the contract which includes the arbitration agreement is assigned to the K-SURE. Originality/value This paper suggests a possible plan to increase recoveries in export insurance. The outcome of the research is expected to enhance the arbitration system on the back of increasing numbers of arbitration related to export insurance, to improve the balance sheet of K-SURE and ultimately, to help the Korean economy by collecting export insurance recoveries which will lead to saving Korean people’s tax.
