Full textThe present research aims to analyze the behavior of the extruded biaxial geogrid incorporated in a granular soil at the sub-base level for the pavement located in av. Defensores de Morro in the district of Chorrillos, in the Department of Lima. Therefore, the procedure of this research is to carry out an experimental program for the soil under study and including the biaxial geogrid at the sub-base level in two different positions, one placed in the middle and the two layers at the ends of it to find the best alternative that will increase the value of the soil CBR for this type of granular soil. The avenue under study presents a type of soil according to the SUCS classification of poorly graded sand with silt and gravel. According to the results obtained, it is observed that the geogrid incorporated in the middle improves the CBR of the soil by 6.5% and those placed at the ends improve the CBR of the soil by 3.2%. The methodology used for the research is of the type of experimental design since a complete test of the soil was carried out to determine the necessary physical and mechanical characteristics, and to know the value of the CBR of this soil, whose value was very important for this investigation, since that with this it was possible to know if the value increased favorably for a granular soil. As a result, the CBR value located in the middle of the sub-base layer improves the CBR value by a greater percentage.

Full textThe following thesis aims to analyze the importance of excavation methodologies in the buildings of the city of Metropolitan Lima. The most used methodologies are: ramp installation, sidewalk installation, handrail method using sidewalks, spoon to spoon method, conveyor belt usage, use of tilting buckets, and vertical lifting system. In the country, there is no knowledge of the method or control that should be used for an efficient process of material removal for basement constructions; hence, there is trust in subcontracting companies which are responsible or perform for this activity based on experiences already carried out in other similar projects. The purpose of this thesis project is to develop the appropriate control and management of a good production of material removal that would help to establish the efficiency of any process in the future. This study will analyze 4 buildings located in the districts of Metropolitan Lima. This analysis will be limited to projects which areas are ranked between 700 - 1200 m2, include the construction of 4 or more basements, with locations based in typical areas that represent the main characteristics of the Lima soil. Within the group of soils, there is focus in the granular gravel type that shows the optimal conditions in terms of suitable machinery for deep excavations performance. The importance of this work is to ensure the improvement of processes and methods in deep excavations of buildings that present some construction characteristics, based on the study of the construction process of basement excavations by ratios, which will allow to determine the efficiency by ring and by project of this process during the material removal phase.

Full textIn the present investigation, representative parameters that influence the shear strength of a granular soil were studied. The objective of this study is to verify that the friction angle of a granular soil can be obtained through a linear expression of three variables, and by using the homothetic curve method. There are many variables that influence the shear strength of a granular soil. However, in this investigation only the variables of dilatancy and the friction angle are considered, this due to the delimitation of variables and parameters developed in the study, which could be considered for future investigation and to obtain an expression with a greater number of parameters of influence in the shear strength. The shear strength of granular soils depends to a great extent on the friction angle and the dilatancy. In this way, an experimental study was realized in sand samples in order to obtain an expression that allows correlating the friction angles of samples with original granulometry and samples made with homothetic curves criterion. Then, maximum and minimum density tests and direct shear tests were realized, where specimens compacted at 70% relative density were tested. Finally, an expression based on the angle of friction and the dilatancy was obtained, with a coefficient of determination of the equation close to unity, which shows a clear fit of the expression.
