Abstract:
This study tests the effect of a pairing suggestion for food with wine by the glass directly placed on the menu. We made the assumption that these suggestions can, by reducing social and financial risk, increase wine by the glass sales. One hundred and fifty-nine customers of a Swiss restaurant participated in this experiment. For 82 customers, a food and wine by the glass suggestion was directly placed on the menu while the 77 others were given a normal menu (without a pairing suggestion). Results show that this type of suggestion significantly increases wine sold by the glass. Practical applications of this strategy are discussed.

Abstract:
This article defines the concepts of suggestion and speech strategy, as well as provides the examples of the use of suggestion speech strategies in French business correspondence. In addition, the authors characterize the suggestion speech strategy, stressing that one can «dissolve» the request in the structure of the French sentence instead of directly giving instructions to the interlocutor. The authors also consider the techniques of giving hidden commands to the interlocutor. The information that the communicant possesses before the communication act (upcoming speech communication; cognitive presuppositions; context) determine the choice of vocabulary and grammatical forms. The suggestion speech strategy is implemented in several ways: direct (imperative) and indirect, intentional and unintentional, and also involves the positions which the communicant should rely on (eliminating traces of judgment and personal assessment; more or less conscious choice of a certain position when arguing or choosing words by modalizing them; a distant position that would force a communicant to accept certain attitudes, relying on a neutral attitude of a specialist who can impartially analyze the subject of the conversation). Based on this, the purpose of this study is to analyze the speech strategies of suggestion in French business correspondence.

Abstract:
The article investigates the communicative mechanism of verbal suggestion in television advertising. Suggestion is considered as a media-constructed type of communication, the subject of which is an advertising message, which includes in its content an emotive narrative that stimulates the recipient’s desire to buy the advertised product, and directive speech acts in the form of an installation that directs the consumer’s actions in the interests of the brand. Particular attention is paid to communicative techniques, the specifics of speech statements, characteristic lexical and grammatical structures that implement the strategy of suggestion. The communicative mechanism of suggestion is revealed on the examples of Russian television commercial advertising. Research of suggestion as a specific process of communication meets the modern needs of brands that advertise their product in the conditions of commodity abundance and reduce consumer demand.

Abstract:
Purpose Employee suggestion scheme (ESS) have existed for many years and many articles have been published over the past decades. They have been studied from many perspectives to illustrate their objectives, nature, content, process, significance and the benefits. Arguments have also been made with respect to success and failures of the suggestion schemes. Although the corporations widely use the suggestion schemes to elicit the creative ideas of their employees, sustaining a suggestion scheme is still a challenge. The purpose of this paper is to extract the critical success factors and critical success criteria to the suggestion scheme and to discuss the importance of these factors on sustainability of suggestion system. This is a literature review paper. Design/methodology/approach This is a literature review paper. The research used the university library to search for the relevant material. The university has an access for 25,000 journals. As the university had the subscription to main databases such as EBASCO, SCIENCE DIRECT, EMERALD, Google Scholar and WILEY, a search was performed on these databases using the key terms. The keywords used in the searches included: Suggestion System, Suggestion Scheme, Employee Participation, Employee Involvement, Innovation, Employee Creativity and Ideas Management. The Google Scholar citation tab was also searched further to identify any related articles. The citations of resulting articles were scrutinized further for further clues. Findings This paper identifies 23 critical success factors and 9 critical success criteria for suggestion schemes. It also discusses the interconnection between the critical success factors and the critical success criteria. Further, the frequency of each of the factors is also presented. It recognizes the lack of work on the assessment framework for sustainability of a suggestion scheme. Practical implications This paper should be of value to practitioners of suggestion schemes and to academics who are interested in knowing how this program has evolved and where it is today and what future it holds. It offers practical help to an individual starting out on research on the sustainability of suggestion schemes. Originality/value The paper attempts to put together many factors discussed in the literature and proposed a definition to define the sustainability of the suggestion system and categorized them as critical success factors and critical success criteria.

This paper examines employee suggestion programs in the health care field. Employee suggestion programs (ESP) work best to elicit new ideas, save money in this inflationary field, and yield substantial rewards to the employee who contributes valid suggestions. Employees' ideas and efforts can make hospital programs thrive and help hospitals retain their “distinctive competence”. Encouraging/rewarding suggestions can give hospitals their “cutting edge”.

Abstract:
n the market of dried tangerine peels, Xinhui dried tangerine peels industry, which is represented by Xinhui Dried Tangerine Peels Village (XDV)”, is the most representative among other dried tangerine peels. In the paper, the case study and qualitative method are used to analyze the current condition of the Xinhui dried tangerine peels industry, and to provide suggestions for the future development of the Xinhui dried tangerine peels industry. It turns out that the disadvantages of XDV are the relatively low popularity, a large number of small-sized competitors, and the small differentiation between XDV and other small producers, while the advantages of XDV are its deep culture and the high quality of XDV products. Therefore, the appropriate method for the future development of the XDV is the branding strategy since the disadvantages of the XDV can be solved by branding strategy, and the advantages are corresponding to the application of branding strategy. There are several steps to take to reach the success of the branding strategy in several aspects. The first step is to define a clear value proposition, which makes the direction of the development clear. Secondly, XDV should use a diversification strategy for the future development of its products. Also, with the improvement of products, promotion is necessary for the future development of XDV because a good promotion can attract more potential consumers and help XDV remain popular. Lastly, with high popularity, the price of the Xinhui dried tangerine peels from XDV should be lower since the sales have already made up for the cost of maintaining the “high-cost” channel. As a result, the development methods that this paper provides for the researchers and businessmen of Xinhui dried tangerine peels market would be helpful to apply and confirm in the future.

Abstract:
Organizational culture is defined as set of goals and values shared by employees in the organization. Recently it has also come to be perceived as a resource of knowledge in the organization. In the literature, along with the studies aiming at identifying the elements of organizational culture, there are some research that study the relationship between organizational culture and performance. This article is a theoretical study of the two concepts and suggests a research model for further research. Recently, knowledge management and innovation strategy have started to be regarded as features of organizational culture. Research shows that these two variables also have significant impacts on organizational performance. Our model suggests measuring the effect of organizational culture on performance along with the supportive impacts of knowledge management and innovation strategy.

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this study is identifying and ranking the various antecedents or enablers that will enhance performance through employee suggestion schemes (ESSs) in various sector-specific businesses based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), an emerging Arab country.Design/methodology/approachThis study employs the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to prioritize the factors affecting ESS. The AHP model was developed with five criteria and 24 subcriteria based on the interactional theory of organizational creativity. Data were collected through interviews with 27 top-level managers and industry experts from nine government agencies, nine semigovernment agencies, and nine privately owned UAE-based businesses.FindingsThe findings show that leadership support and management style, individual attributes, and corporate strategy are the most important factors that influence performance through ESS.Research limitations/implicationsThe research model had limited dimensions and the findings cannot be generalized. To generalize the findings, the study should be carried out in other GCC countries because of homogeneity in the political, organizational, and sociocultural context. The outcome of the study provides both organizational and managerial implications for the better organizational performance through ESS.Originality/valuePast studies on ESS have neglected the construct of individual characteristics of employees that generate novel ideas. This paper addresses the gap of sector-specific studies by considering that individual attributes of creative people as individuals are the heart of innovation, along with contextual factors that could help organizations to transform innovative engines through ESS. The originality of this research stems from a reliable and valid framework that can be subsequently used for driving performance through ESS. This study is a relevant contribution to both the academic literature and practical implications.

Abstract:
The study of industrial relations management has been a long-neglected aspect of the Australian scene. Recent changes in the balance of power on the shop floor in the aftermath of prolonged recession in the metal and engineering industry, however, make such neglect an expensive luxury. This article looks at four aspects of management t strategy: the labour relations management function, relations with the unions at the workplace, attitudes to employee involvement, and attitudes to the employment relationship. The suggestion, in the light of secondary evidence and a series of fourteen case studies in the Victorian and New South Wales metal industry, is that three variables are important in helping to explain the direction that labour relations management has taken in recent years. These are the 'labour threat: the reorganization of production methods, and changes to the legal and institutional framework. It was found that management in those plants in which exposure to these three environmental pressures was similar responded with fairly similar labour relations management practices, suggesting that there may indeed be a link between the key variables.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis study provides an overview, categorization, and integration of what has been achieved in the niche of cross-culture experimental economics (CCEE) so far, aiming to inspire indigenous management researchers to extend their methodological toolbox by including experimental methods. As a result of the review, I find that most of the early studies lack depth and contextualization as well as detailed explanation aboutwhyhuman behavior differs. Hence, a better understanding about the influence of culture on economic decision-making is rather limited if it cannot be explained in more detail. In contrast, deep contextualization is a principle in indigenous management research (IMR). Both have so far not benefited from each other in the study of how culture affects human behavior, as both currently develop in parallel. Following the call for high-quality IMR (Tsui, 2004), this paper argues that an experimental methodology can make a contribution to IMR in the future by drawing on the strengths of both IMR (i.e., contextualization) and CCEE (i.e., methodology).

Abstract:
Daniel Cunha misreads us as suggesting that climate change has been a conscious and deliberate strategy of a global elite. This was very clearly not our suggestion. He proposes that the Marxian concept of fetishism is applicable to anthropogenic climate change, apparently unaware of our recurrent use of precisely this concept in a number of publications over the past decades. We thus fundamentally agree with his position, but find his critique of our own interpretation of the Anthropocene unfair and misdirected.

Abstract:
The research aimed to explain types of directive speech act encompassed meirei (order), irai (plea), kinshi (prohibition), kyoka (permit), and teian (suggestion) in the Japanese language. Directive speech acts were common for students in the kaiwa chukyu zenhan level (basic intermediate speaking lesson). The present research employed a listening method with the basic technique, i.e., tapping method. Further, involved and uninvolved conversation observation techniques, note-taking, and recording were applied to collect the data. The data object was the documentation of student conversations in class. The data, consisting of the directive speech act of the politeness principles in the conversation during the Japanese course kaiwa chukyu zenhan, were analyzed using an identity method. In conclusion, the research identifies several directive speech acts that are used during the class. Those are zenhan (order, three data), requesting (two data), suggesting (one data), prohibiting (one data), and permitting (one data). Moreover, the honorifics used include the teineigo and kenjogo. Among the nine data, directive speech acts are identified in the class, and only one data indicates the indirect speech act.

Abstract:
Stem cell research is essential not only for the research and treatment of human diseases, but also for the genetic preservation and improvement of animals. Since embryonic stem cells (ESCs) were established in mice, substantial efforts have been made to establish true ESCs in many species. Although various culture conditions were used to establish ESCs in cattle, the capturing of true bovine ESCs (bESCs) has not been achieved. In this review, the difficulty of establishing bESCs with various culture conditions is described, and the characteristics of proprietary induced pluripotent stem cells and extended pluripotent stem cells are introduced. We conclude with a suggestion of a strategy for establishing true bESCs.

Zeni, Letizia, Chiara Manenti, Simona Fisogni, et al. "Acute Kidney Injury due to Anticoagulant-Related Nephropathy : A Suggestion for Therapy." Case Reports in Nephrology 2020 (June 8, 2020): 1–5. http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2020/8952670.

Full text
Abstract:
The relationship between kidneys and anticoagulation is complex, especially after introduction of the direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC). It is recently growing evidence of an anticoagulant-related nephropathy (ARN), a form of acute kidney injury caused by excessive anticoagulation. The pathogenesis of kidney damage in this setting is multifactorial, and nowadays, there is no established treatment. We describe a case of ARN, admitted to our Nephrology Unit with a strong suspicion of ANCA-associated vasculitis due to gross haematuria and haemoptysis; the patient was being given dabigatran. Renal biopsy excluded ANCA-associated vasculitis and diagnosed a red blood cell cast nephropathy superimposed to an underlying IgA nephropathy. Several mechanisms are possibly responsible for kidney injury in ARN: tubular obstruction, cytotoxicity of heme-containing molecules and free iron, and activation of proinflammatory/profibrotic cytokines. Therefore, the patient was given a multilevel strategy of treatment. A combination of reversal of coagulopathy (i.e., withdrawal of dabigatran and infusion of its specific antidote) along with administration of fluids, sodium bicarbonate, steroids, and mannitol resulted in conservative management of AKI and fast recovery of renal function. This observation could suggest a prospective study aiming to find the best therapy of ARN.

Abstract:
Child injuries are a growing global public health problem that requires urgent attention. They are a significant area of concern from the age of one year, and progressively contribute more to overall rates of death until the children reach adulthood. So, the authors suggested ‘student safety and insurance (SSI) day observance’ globally in order to create awareness against prevention of unintentional injuries (UII) and provision of SSI. The review focussed on estimation of the burden and causes of UIIs among students, determination of association of UIIs with socioeconomic factors, identification of the student safety day/week and SSI policies. A descriptive analysis of the articles published in various journals on UIIs among the students across the globe was undertaken. A systematic, predetermined strategy was undertaken for data collection, collation, compilation and assimilation. The authors found that the road traffic injuries alone are leading cause of death among 15-19 and the second leading cause among 10-14 years old (WHO-2008). In addition, millions of children require hospital care for non-fatal injuries. Many are left with some form of disability, often with lifelong consequences. Dr. Gururaj estimated that nearly 100,000 children died every year in India among 2,000,000 hospitalized. Certain universities/nations are observing student safety week. The authors concluded that children are particularly vulnerable group, either directly through being injured themselves or indirectly through the loss of parents. So, a convergent and cost benefit new initiative ‘global student safety and insurance day observance’ suggested every year in order to prevent all UIIs and to provide insurance.
