Abstract: Agriculture is a career that has been performed for many years. However, as time passes, people's confidence in this profession is eroding. One of the reasons for this is that agriculture is practiced in an unscientific manner. Traditional approaches are getting less successful as time passes. To address this, the method described here analyses the current environmental and soil parameters and predicts the best crop for the scenario. This technology is intended to assist farmers by serving as a gateway between them and all accessible information. The project's main goal is to gather information from many sources on the internet and display it to the user in a user-friendly and understandable manner. This site will serve as a resource for farmers around the country, as 3well as a platform for them to connect and share their important resources and expertise with one another. We also want to dedicate a part of this programme solely to crop, equipment, and labour management. We want to make resource collection and farm management considerably more efficient. Abstract:
The core of artificial intelligence is certification. It demonstrates a productive method for resolving urgent issues, and it denotes how to approach a dataset. For speedier access and seamless client service, we integrate artificial intelligence into our concept. Tensor-flow is used in its development to accelerate activities and automate data collection. Our module is standardised using a standard scaler. Cross-validation is done using the grid-search CV approach. The random-forest algorithm is the algorithm that we defined here. We reduce processing time while increasing usability adaptability. We criticise the strong emphasis on current solutions when it comes to attribution as a process for knowledge development since this focus influences the knowledge structure. Like chronic illness, which takes a lengthy time to diagnose because it is a long-lasting sickness, everywhere on the globe, chronic diseases are dangerous illnesses that are more expensive to detect and force the patient to endure their effects for the rest of their lives. There is a wealth of information about these diseases in the medical field; thus, data mining techniques are used to simplify the healthcare system.

Abstract:
Over the last few years, pervasive systems have seen some interesting development. Nevertheless, human–human interaction can also take advantage of those systems by using their ability to perceive the surrounding environment. In this work, we have developed a pervasive system – named CLASSY – that is aware of the conversational context and suggests documents potentially useful to the users based on an Information Retrieval system, and proposed a new scoring approach that uses semantics and distance based on proximity data in order to classify the relationship between tokens.

Abstract:
An important part of the bus ticket booking system is the route. Online bus tickets are systems that integrate all the different bus organization routes. However, the existing online system only provides direct transportation to destinations. In many cases, customers will need to take some connecting buses before reaching their desired destination. Therefore, a multiple routes suggestion for bus ticketing system is introduced using an advance route generation algorithm. In addition to the basic features of the existing online system, the developed system offers recommended routes if the desired destination does not have a direct bus. The recommended route will be at several different bus operators and waiting time for the next route. The development of this system is expected to provide convenience for the customer to find multiple routes suggestion.

Abstract:
Recommender systems are core components for many companies. These companies constantly improve their functionality aiming to maximize user satisfaction from their products. The only evaluation of the recommender systems usually done by the companies is performed in an online experiment on actual data leaving them without any offline tools to consider and postponing the quality assessment to the time when the algorithm is deployed and used in production. In this work, we describe a software evaluation tool for a selected recommender algorithm applicable for offline cases. We discuss different properties that are important for the assessment of the chosen algorithm, present the user behavior that best reflects expected real life attitude, debate various data sets (available on the Internet and provided by the company) suitable for the offline evaluation. We introduce an extensible software tool for offline assessment that is integrated into test environment created and maintained by Salesforce.com. The tool aims to be exible allowing data sets, user behavior and metrics to be easily switched or used for evaluation of other recommender algorithms. We also describe a set of recommendations on how the selected algorithm could be improved supporting these enhancement suggestions with an evaluation performed using the implemented tool.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This Master’s Thesis aimed to assess and propose improvements for initial learnability in Sectra AB’s Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) by integrating usability engineering and agile software development. Assessing initial learnability and re-designing complex systems is difficult as they have a high skill cap and take longer time to learn in comparison to simpler ones. Further, companies that use agile methodologies often focus on completing small items which might hide the overarching vision of a product that can lead to usability problems. While there are several methods for assessing usability, no research has specifically focused on assessing initial learnability in complex systems. This study however investigates how this may be achieved by combining current methodologies for measuring learnability with usability engineering and agile software development. Initial learnability issues and needs were assessed after evaluating Sectra PACS using 5 participants and analysed using impact mapping as well as conducting a focus group within the organisation that owns the product.

Olow, Christofer, and Sanna Masser. "Effektivitetens mjuka sida i tillverkande företag." Thesis, Högskolan i Skövde, Institutionen för handel och företagande, 2016. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:his:diva-12676.

Full text
Abstract:
Detta görs genom att uppskattning och uppmuntran till delaktighet genom bland annat förslagssystem sker kontinuerligt.<br>Manufacturing companies have for a long time strived to achieve the highest efficiency in their production. This has been achieved by streamlining processes and minimizing process’ cost. The rationalization, along with psychology has had a work organizational focus over the years. Especially has a lot of theories concerning psychology in the workplace been developed. Earlier motivations theories saw extrinsic and intrinsic motivation as additive to each other. This means that a company's monetary reward system only cater to the external motivation to a certain point, then its up to the individual to meet the internal need of intrinsic motivation. In contrary to the earlier motivation theories, Self-determination theory sees an interaction between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, where the manager serve as a external motivator, who can influence the worker’s intrinsic motivation. Therefor lies the responsibility in the manager hands to ensure that motivations conditions exist and a continuous improvement process is going on within the company. If the managers fail in accomplishing this, it can often lead to unmotivated staff and poor efficiency. The manager is the one who’s faced with the task of promoting the workers intrinsic motivation, but the question remains how the managers should proceed. The study aims to analyse which behaviour a manager can adopt to meet the worker’s need for intrinsic motivation within a manufacturing company. To examine this, the study came to use a qualitative study method with an emphasis towards a deductive approach. It was interesting to analyse manufacturing companies with monotonous work. Four companies came to participate in the study, where differences in both production scale and production existed. Through interviews with managers and workers the study could deduce a correlation on a specific behaviour and analyse it to answer the purpose of the study. The study found that coveted behaviour that managers could adopt to promote intrinsic motivation among the workers is, engagement in the workplace and the manufacturing process that is executed by the workers, and therefore see the individual in the process of the production. This is done with appreciation and encouragement for participation by including suggestion system in the company and ensures that suggestions are continuous.

Abstract:
Subway is the leading fast food franchise chain having over 29.700 branches in 87 countries and differentiating itself among other fast foods by serving healthy food. The chain's focus for further development is concentrated on the countries in Central Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Croatia) and its 47 branches. However, the concept of supply chain in this region is disunited and leads to unfair high costs and high requirements from the branch management. Therefore there is an urgent need to unite the logistic system. The idea is that all the branches in the region will keep two or three local suppliers providing delivery of vegetables, drinks and local specialties; other goods will be distributed by single logistics company in the form of consolidated supply. The new logistic concept for provision of availability of products needed for proper work of all Subway branches in Central and Eastern Europe in context of integration, unification and simplification of logistic chains and its effective management is suggested in the work from the logistic service provider point of view. The task is solved in three parts -- transportation of goods from the producers to the warehouse, its delivery to individual branches, and warehouses itself including the cost calculations. The analysis of supplier's location and the location of supplied branches conclusion follows on locating the warehouse unit near Prague. The kinds of goods could be divided into frozen, cooled, dry and non-food goods. The consumption of individual kinds of goods is specified and the process of supplying the warehouse, means of transport, number of drivers, consolidation on distribution routes and its frequency is suggested. The supply of 47 branches will be done with special means of transport with combined shipping space enabling separate transport of individual kinds of goods by using the mobile screens; on 5 routes always between 7:00 to 23:00 in every country on the same day. The warehouse is a key place for delivery consolidation according to the needs of individual branches in accordance with FIFO principle. About 70 different articles of goods are stocked in three parts; respectively in truss racks with longitudinal filling with capacity of 168 pallet spaces in the height of 4 pallets. The manipulation is provided by low-lift and high-lift trucks. The limit warehouse is rectangular with the area of 122.4 m2, Monthly cost are 485,- Kč for pallet space, the costs in the frozen and cooled warehouse are higher by 15,-Kč per pallet space, that is 500,- Kč. The total costs to supply all the Subway branch restaurants in the whole region is the total sum of costs for good acquisition, its transfer from suppliers to the warehouse, warehouse operations and distribution of goods to individual branches.

Abstract:
This policy brief reviews the evolution of knowledge-to-policy studies and the emergence of systems perspectives. We explore the less well understood issue of how to grow and reinforce knowledge systems in settings where they are weak and underdeveloped. We offer a knowledge systems model that encapsulates current thinking and present an example of an effort to strengthen a knowledge system, drawn from a project managed by RTI in Indonesia. We conclude with some recommendations for strengthening knowledge systems including promoting debate among a diversity of voices within the knowledge system, providing sustained stakeholder commitment to the systems approach, investing in the components of the knowledge system as well as the interaction between components, fostering a balance between government mechanisms and space for civil society perspectives, and exploring how knowledge systems can engage the private sector. We conclude with suggestions for applying the knowledge systems model in new country contexts including use of a political economy analysis as well as gauging readiness of government actors, research institutes, and media to engage.

El Halawani, Mohamed, and Israel Rozenboim. Temperature Stress and Turkey Reproduction. United States Department of Agriculture, 2002. http://dx.doi.org/10.32747/2002.7570546.bard.

Full text
Abstract:
High temperature stress is of major concern to turkey producers in Israel and the United States. The decline in the rate of egg production at high environmental temperature is well recognized, but the neuroendocrinological basis is not understood. Our objectives were: 1) to characterize the hypothalamo-hypophyseal axis involvement in the mechanism(s) underlying the detrimental effect of heat stress on reproduction, and 2) to establish procedures that alleviate the damaging effect of heat stress on reproduction. Heat stress (40oC, Israel; 32oC, U.S.) caused significant reduction in egg production, which was restored by VIP immunoneutralization. The decline in egg production did not appear to be entirely related to the expression of incubation behavior due to the rise in circulating PRL in stressed birds. Heat stress was found to increase circulating PRL in ovariectomized turkeys independent of the reproductive stage. Active immunization against VIP was shown for the first time to up-regulate LHb and FSHb subunit mRNA contents. These findings taken together with the results that the heat stress-induced decline in egg production may not be dependent upon the reproductive stage, lead to the suggestion that the detrimental effect of heat stress on reproductive performance may be in part mediated by VIP acting directly on the GnRH/gonadotropin system. Inhibin (INH) immunoneutralization has been shown to enhance FSH secretion and induces ovulation in mammals. It is hypothesized that immunization of heat-stressed turkeys against INH will increase levels of circulating FSH and the number of preovulating follicles which leads to improved reproductive performance. We have cloned and expressed turkey INH-a and INH-bA. Active immunization of turkey hens with rtINH-a increased pituitary FSH-b subunit mRNA and the number of non-graded preovulatory yellow follicles, but no significant increase in egg production was observed.

Hayes, Anne M., and Jennae Bulat. Disabilities Inclusive Education Systems and Policies Guide for Low- and Middle-Income Countries. RTI Press, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.3768/rtipress.2017.op.0043.1707.

Full text
Abstract:
Having a disability can be one of the most marginalizing factors in a child’s life. In education, finding ways to meet the learning needs of students with disabilities can be challenging, especially in schools, districts, regions, and countries with severely limited resources. Inclusive education—which fully engages all students, including students with disabilities or other learning challenges, in quality education—has proven particularly effective in helping all students learn, even while challenges to implementing inclusive education systems remain. This guide provides suggestions for developing inclusive education systems and policies, especially for low- and middle-income countries that are moving from a segregated system toward an inclusive system of education. We specifically address the needs of countries with limited resources for implementing inclusive education. However, our strategies and recommendations can be equally useful in other contexts where inclusive education practices have not yet been adopted.

Full text
Abstract:
Automated vehicles (AVs)—and the automated driving systems (ADSs) that enable them—are increasing in prevalence but remain far from ubiquitous. Progress has occurred in spurts, followed by lulls, while the motor transportation system learns to design, deploy, and regulate AVs. Automated Vehicles: A Human/Machine Co-learning Experience focuses on how engineers, regulators, and road users are all learning about a technology that has the potential to transform society. Those engaged in the design of ADSs and AVs may find it useful to consider that the spurts and lulls and stakeholder tussles are a normal part of technology transformations; however, this report will provide suggestions for effective stakeholder engagement.

Abstract:
Future emissions regulations for the natural gas industry are imminent and will be, in some cases, very severe. One of many possible technologies that may be applied to meet these regulations is an exhaust gas after treatment called Selective Catalytic Reduction or SCR. Application of SCR to 2 stroke cycle internal combustion engines offers a unique set of challenges unlike any other in existing SCR systems. This paper reviews these various challenges in detail, enumerates a functional specification for a typical compressor station, evaluates a selection of possible SCR system candidates and offers some suggestions for a successful application. Due to the complexity of select issues, further investigation may be needed.

Abstract:
This deliverable focuses on the proling activities developed in the project with the partner's applications. To perform this proling activities, a couple of benchmarks were dened in collaboration with WP5. The rst benchmark is an embarrassingly parallel benchmark that performs a read and then multiple writes of the same object, with the objective of stressing the memory and storage systems and evaluate the overhead when these reads and writes are performed in parallel. A second benchmark is dened based on the Continuation Multi Level Monte Carlo (C-MLMC) algorithm. While this algorithm is normally executed using multiple levels, for the proling and performance analysis objectives, the execution of a single level was enough since the forthcoming levels have similar performance characteristics. Additionally, while the simulation tasks can be executed as parallel (multi-threaded tasks), in the benchmark, single threaded tasks were executed to increase the number of simulations to be scheduled and stress the scheduling engines. A set of experiments based on these two benchmarks have been executed in the MareNostrum 4 supercomputer and using PyCOMPSs as underlying programming model and dynamic scheduler of the tasks involved in the executions. While the rst benchmark was executed several times in a single iteration, the second benchmark was executed in an iterative manner, with cycles of 1) Execution and trace generation; 2) Performance analysis; 3) Improvements. This had enabled to perform several improvements in the benchmark and in the scheduler of PyCOMPSs. The initial iterations focused on the C-MLMC structure itself, performing re-factors of the code to remove ne grain and sequential tasks and merging them in larger granularity tasks. The next iterations focused on improving the PyCOMPSs scheduler, removing existent bottlenecks and increasing its performance by making the scheduler a multithreaded engine. While the results can still be improved, we are satised with the results since the granularity of the simulations run in this evaluation step are much ner than the one that will be used for the real scenarios. The deliverable nishes with some recommendations that should be followed along the project in order to obtain good performance in the execution of the project codes.

Abstract:
The overall aim of the project is to identify the best practices in measurement system design and proving procedures in order to reduce measurement uncertainty. This is in recognition that improvements made to the calibration of flow meters would have a direct correlation in reducing system measurement uncertainty, improving overall pipeline balancing, and, amongst other benefits, reducing the minimum detection thresholds of leak detection systems. The project includes an extensive literature review of proving practices, standards, developments and case studies. This was balanced by an industrial survey which collected views, experiences and priorities. A gap analysis was then conducted on the literature and survey results to meet the project's recommendations on areas of improvement and derived priorities. The proving of ultrasonic and Coriolis flow meters requires special attention. By analyzing the existing literature, the project considers such concerns and presents suggestions for these devices in particular. This report has a related webinar.
