Abstract:
Recommender systems are core components for many companies. These companies constantly improve their functionality aiming to maximize user satisfaction from their products. The only evaluation of the recommender systems usually done by the companies is performed in an online experiment on actual data leaving them without any offline tools to consider and postponing the quality assessment to the time when the algorithm is deployed and used in production. In this work, we describe a software evaluation tool for a selected recommender algorithm applicable for offline cases. We discuss different properties that are important for the assessment of the chosen algorithm, present the user behavior that best reflects expected real life attitude, debate various data sets (available on the Internet and provided by the company) suitable for the offline evaluation. We introduce an extensible software tool for offline assessment that is integrated into test environment created and maintained by Salesforce.com. The tool aims to be exible allowing data sets, user behavior and metrics to be easily switched or used for evaluation of other recommender algorithms. We also describe a set of recommendations on how the selected algorithm could be improved supporting these enhancement suggestions with an evaluation performed using the implemented tool.

Abstract:
The thesis deals with technologies of goods protection. It is focused on electronic technologies of goods protection, which call EAS (electronic article surveillance) in foreign literature. The goal of this thesis is support for instruction in electronic surveillance of goods. This document systematically describes principle and technical solution recent electronic technologies of goods protection. There are mentioned advantages and disadvantages too. The other chapter deals with basic operating mode and configuration parameters of loop systems, acoustic-magnetic system and radio system. On the basis of this was suggested laboratory task. This task is use for better understanding of principles electronic surveillance of goods. Some possible attacks of electronic surveillance of goods are described at the last chapter of this thesis. This attacks was also realized.

Lo scopo di questo progetto è quello di verificare la tesi secondo cui l’utilizzo di metodologie basate sul calcolo della similarità può migliorare l’editing di documenti strutturati attraverso attività di ricerca, recupero e confronto che forniscono supporto testuale a vari livelli di dettaglio. La ricerca di oggetti simili è un campo molto importante del Text Mining e, a tal proposito, sono state analizzate e implementate due tecniche che permettono di ricercare frammenti quali frasi, paragrafi e sezioni partendo da un testo in input e da una fissata metrica di similarità. Lo scopo è di progettare un sistema di supporto testuale che fornisca suggerimenti all’utente durante la fase di editing di un nuovo documento in modo da facilitare la scrittura e rendendo il documento conforme alle linee guida di una collezione di documenti iniziale. Nel corso della dissertazione verranno trattate tematiche come il concetto di similarità e i modi per quantificarla; verrà discusso come rappresentare vettorialmente il testo e, sulla base di ciò, verrà analizzato nel dettaglio gli algoritmi MRCTA e Minhash, un’istanza dello schema LSH (Locality Sensitive Hashing), che permette di stimare la similarità di Jaccard; verrà descritta SHE ossia l’ambiente implementato per consentire le fasi di confronto e testing delle tecniche considerate; infine, verranno analizzati i risultati della fase di test il cui scopo è quello di quantificare la soddisfazione dell’utente nell’utilizzo del sistema in modo da individuare, attraverso l’ausilio del questionario SUS, la tecnica più adatta.

Abstract:
This Master’s Thesis aimed to assess and propose improvements for initial learnability in Sectra AB’s Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) by integrating usability engineering and agile software development. Assessing initial learnability and re-designing complex systems is difficult as they have a high skill cap and take longer time to learn in comparison to simpler ones. Further, companies that use agile methodologies often focus on completing small items which might hide the overarching vision of a product that can lead to usability problems. While there are several methods for assessing usability, no research has specifically focused on assessing initial learnability in complex systems. This study however investigates how this may be achieved by combining current methodologies for measuring learnability with usability engineering and agile software development. Initial learnability issues and needs were assessed after evaluating Sectra PACS using 5 participants and analysed using impact mapping as well as conducting a focus group within the organisation that owns the product.

Abstract:
Tillverkningsföretag har länge strävat efter att uppnå en så hög effektivitet som möjligt i sin produktion. Detta har bland annat skett genom att effektivisera processer och minimera processernas kostnader. Rationaliseringen, tillsammans med forskning avseende psykologi, har haft ett arbetsorganisatoriskt fokus under åren. Framförallt utvecklades en hel del teorier inom motivation i arbetsorganisationer. Tidigare motivationsteorier ser yttre och inre motivation som additiv till varandra. Det innebär att de monetära belöningssystem som många företag etablerat bara tillfredsställer den yttre motivationen, därefter är det upp till individen att uppfylla den inre motivationen. Self-determination theory ser istället faktorerna som interaktiva där chefen, som extern motivationsfaktor, kan påverka den inre motivationen hos arbetstagaren. Ansvaret ligger därför hos chefen för att se till att motivationsförhållanden föreligger och att en ständig förbättringsprocess pågår inom bolaget. Misslyckas chefen kan det ofta leda till omotiverad personal och sämre effektivitet.   Chefen är den som ställs inför uppgiften att främja den inre motivation hos sina arbetstagare men frågan kvarstår hur chefen ska gå tillväga. Studien syftar till att se till de mjuka faktorerna genom att analysera vilket beteende en chef kan anta för att tillmötesgå arbetstagares inre motivationsbehov i tillverkningsföretag. För att undersöka detta genomfördes en kvalitativ studie med en deduktiv tyngdpunkt. Det var intressant för studien att analysera tillverkningsföretag med monotona arbetssätt. Fyra bolag kom att medverka i studien där skillnader i både produktionsstorlek och produktion förelåg. Därmed finns det även skillnader i hur monotont arbetssättet är mellan de olika företagen. Genom intervjuer med arbetstagare och chefer kunde studien utläsa samband relaterat till ett specifikt beteende och analysera detta för att besvara studiens syfte. Studien kom fram till att eftertraktat beteende hos en chef, för att inre motivation ska främjas, är att chefen ska vara engagerad i arbetsprocessen och se individen i produktionen. Detta görs genom att uppskattning och uppmuntran till delaktighet genom bland annat förslagssystem sker kontinuerligt.<br>Manufacturing companies have for a long time strived to achieve the highest efficiency in their production. This has been achieved by streamlining processes and minimizing process’ cost. The rationalization, along with psychology has had a work organizational focus over the years. Especially has a lot of theories concerning psychology in the workplace been developed. Earlier motivations theories saw extrinsic and intrinsic motivation as additive to each other. This means that a company's monetary reward system only cater to the external motivation to a certain point, then its up to the individual to meet the internal need of intrinsic motivation. In contrary to the earlier motivation theories, Self-determination theory sees an interaction between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, where the manager serve as a external motivator, who can influence the worker’s intrinsic motivation. Therefor lies the responsibility in the manager hands to ensure that motivations conditions exist and a continuous improvement process is going on within the company. If the managers fail in accomplishing this, it can often lead to unmotivated staff and poor efficiency. The manager is the one who’s faced with the task of promoting the workers intrinsic motivation, but the question remains how the managers should proceed. The study aims to analyse which behaviour a manager can adopt to meet the worker’s need for intrinsic motivation within a manufacturing company. To examine this, the study came to use a qualitative study method with an emphasis towards a deductive approach. It was interesting to analyse manufacturing companies with monotonous work. Four companies came to participate in the study, where differences in both production scale and production existed. Through interviews with managers and workers the study could deduce a correlation on a specific behaviour and analyse it to answer the purpose of the study. The study found that coveted behaviour that managers could adopt to promote intrinsic motivation among the workers is, engagement in the workplace and the manufacturing process that is executed by the workers, and therefore see the individual in the process of the production. This is done with appreciation and encouragement for participation by including suggestion system in the company and ensures that suggestions are continuous.

Abstract:
Subway is the leading fast food franchise chain having over 29.700 branches in 87 countries and differentiating itself among other fast foods by serving healthy food. The chain's focus for further development is concentrated on the countries in Central Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Croatia) and its 47 branches. However, the concept of supply chain in this region is disunited and leads to unfair high costs and high requirements from the branch management. Therefore there is an urgent need to unite the logistic system. The idea is that all the branches in the region will keep two or three local suppliers providing delivery of vegetables, drinks and local specialties; other goods will be distributed by single logistics company in the form of consolidated supply. The new logistic concept for provision of availability of products needed for proper work of all Subway branches in Central and Eastern Europe in context of integration, unification and simplification of logistic chains and its effective management is suggested in the work from the logistic service provider point of view. The task is solved in three parts -- transportation of goods from the producers to the warehouse, its delivery to individual branches, and warehouses itself including the cost calculations. The analysis of supplier's location and the location of supplied branches conclusion follows on locating the warehouse unit near Prague. The kinds of goods could be divided into frozen, cooled, dry and non-food goods. The consumption of individual kinds of goods is specified and the process of supplying the warehouse, means of transport, number of drivers, consolidation on distribution routes and its frequency is suggested. The supply of 47 branches will be done with special means of transport with combined shipping space enabling separate transport of individual kinds of goods by using the mobile screens; on 5 routes always between 7:00 to 23:00 in every country on the same day. The warehouse is a key place for delivery consolidation according to the needs of individual branches in accordance with FIFO principle. About 70 different articles of goods are stocked in three parts; respectively in truss racks with longitudinal filling with capacity of 168 pallet spaces in the height of 4 pallets. The manipulation is provided by low-lift and high-lift trucks. The limit warehouse is rectangular with the area of 122.4 m2, Monthly cost are 485,- Kč for pallet space, the costs in the frozen and cooled warehouse are higher by 15,-Kč per pallet space, that is 500,- Kč. The total costs to supply all the Subway branch restaurants in the whole region is the total sum of costs for good acquisition, its transfer from suppliers to the warehouse, warehouse operations and distribution of goods to individual branches.

Le but de cette recherche est de décrire et comprendre le fonctionnement du management de la créativité dans des entreprises d’assemblage automobiles en Thaïlande. La question principale qui est posée est «comment peut-on gérer la créativité dans l’entreprise ? ». La stratégie d'étude de cas, a été privilégiée à d’autres modes de recherche qualitative. Les données provenant de sources multiples ont été rassemblées: les documents, les protocoles des entretiens avec des participants de niveau hiérarchique différent dans l’entreprise. Quatre études de cas sont présentées. La créativité dans les entreprises d'assemblage en Thaïlande est basée essentiellement sur le concept de ‘Kaizen’. L'étude démontre que les valeurs culturelles et sociales thaïes ont une influence déterminante sur la créativité du salarié. L'activité de créativité au niveau de l'individu et au niveau du groupe ainsi que les facteurs qui ont une influence sur la gestion de la créativité ont été présentés dans cette étude<br>The purpose of this study is to understand and describe the creativity management in the car assembly companies in Thailand. The main research question is how can manage the creativity. The case study strategies, which is one of the strategies in the qualitative research methodology is used. Data were collected from multiple sources: documentary evidence, guided interviews with the participants from different positions. Four case studies are presented in this study. The creativity’s definition in Thai car assembly companies was defined based on the concept of Kaizen. The study demonstrates Thai cultural and social values have some effects on the employee’s creativity. The creativity activity in individual and group level, and the factors that influence on creativity management were presented in this study

Abstract:
It was hypothesized that a suggestion system based on behavioral principles would lead to the submission of an increased number of suggestions and improve employees' expectations of suggestion contribution. Friday Night Live Program employees of San Joaquin Youth Services (n=2) were assigned to an experimental group and received a suggestion box (baseline phase) for 6 weeks followed by the behavioral suggestion system (treatment) for 6 weeks. Other employees at San Joaquin Youth Services formed a control group ($n=12$) and were in a continuous baseline phase. Both groups were given a pretest and a post-test survey concerning their expectations of suggestion contributions. During the 12 weeks of the study, the control group contributed no suggestions, while the experimental group contributed a mean of 4.4 suggestions per week during treatment and no suggestions during their baseline phase. Additionally, survey scores showed an improved attitude toward suggestions for the experimental group and declining attitudes toward suggestions for the control group. These results support the hypothesis.

The diploma thesis provides the reader with a comprehensive view of the U.S. tax system and other vital information about U.S. taxation. The thesis deals with analysis of the tax system in the United States, which can be characterized as very sophisticated and complex. The basic tax theory in the context of the U.S. environment are stated in the first part of thesis. The paper also includes information about taxes that are levied on U.S. federal, state and municipal level. The thesis deals with the anti-crisis measures introduced and proposed in the United States in fiscal matters. The significant part is focused on the possibility of implementation of tax issues to the Czech tax law. The thesis contains also proposals for improvement of the Czech tax law, particularly the improvement of tax payment discipline and enhancing legal certainty. The possible procedural elements, the access and quality of information, the reducing the tax burden, the tax structure and education in taxation could also improve the Czech tax system.

Företagsvärlden omfattas av hård konkurrens som kräver en ständig utveckling av produkter, personal och verksamheten. Utvecklingen sker på bekostnad av hårda krav i arbetsbeskrivningar där ständigt förbättringsarbete ingår i arbetsrollen hos individerna. För att kunna sammanlänka ständiga förbättringar med verksamhetens välmående behövs ett strukturerat förbättringsarbete i form av en väl fungerande förslagsverksamhet. Förslagsverksamhetens syfte är att utnyttja erfarenheter och kunskaper från alla medarbetare genom att stimulera individernas kompetens och idégenerering för att sedan bidra med innovativa och konkurrensmässiga förbättringsförslag. Personal är en resurs som omfattar säregna kunskaper som inget annat företag kan kopiera, därför bör den användas till högsta grad. Syftet med examensarbetet är att kartlägga och ange förbättringsåtgärder för förslagsverksamhetsprocessen vid GKN Aerospace Sweden AB i Trollhättan. Arbetet bestod av en inledande litteraturstudie som innehöll indirekta och direkta faktorer som påverkar förbättringsarbetet med en koppling till förslagsverksamheters funktioner. För att konkretisera den teoretiska referensramen om verktygens innebörd till förbättringsarbetet utfördes en teoretisk samt en praktisk benchmarking. Företagets nuvarande förslagsverksamhet kartlades och analyserades för att sedan bygga en grund för kommande förbättringsförslag.GKN Aerospace Sweden är en del av GKN-koncernen som är verksam i fler än 30 länder runt om i världen och har ca 50 000 anställda. Företaget tillverkar komponenter till flyg- och raketmotorer samt utför service och underhåll. I dagsläget arbetar GKN Aerospace med en förslagsverksamhet som är beroende helt av ett internt IT-system och har en medelledtid på 43 veckor till beslut om belöning och åtgärd. Belöningar för förslag som inkommer är ekonomiska och beräknas fram genom en specifik belöningsformel. Hela förslagsverksamhetsprocessen är omfattande och i den ingår flertalet loopar för behandling av förslag. Examensarbetet resulterade i förbättringsförslag utifrån studier och nulägesanalys men skiljs åt från det förväntade målet att förbättra och utveckla nuvarande system. Problemet som uppkom var att nuvarande system inte stödjer verksamhetens förväntningar på förslagsverksamheten. Det resulterade i att ett helt nytt system med tillhörande rutiner och belöningsriktlinjer togs fram för att skapa incitament och högre motivation för inlämnandet av förbättringsförslag. Förbättringsförslagen mynnade ut i: avsatt tid, förbättringsarbete i grupp, uppstartsmöte, ny process, underlag för utveckling av nytt IT-system, ekonomisk och symbolisk belöning.<br>The business world is constantly subject to intense competition that requires continuous development of products, personnel and operations within the company. The development towards a better state comes at the expense of strict requirements in job descriptions where continuous improvement is part of the working role of individuals. In order to link the continuous improvement of the business well-being, there is a need of structured work for improvement in ways of a well-functioning suggestion scheme. Suggestion schemes main purpose is to utilize the experience and knowledge of all employees by encouraging individuals' skills and creativity, which will contribute with innovative and competitive suggestions. Personnel is a resource that covers particular knowledge that no other company can copy; therefore it should be utilized to the maximum extent possible. The aim of the project is to identify and specify improvement measures for the suggestion scheme at GKN Aerospace Sweden AB in Trollhättan. The work consisted of an initial literature review, which included direct and indirect factors effecting the continuous improvement with linkage to the proposed suggestion scheme. In order to concretize the theoretical framework of the tools main purpose for the continuous improvement, a theoretical and a practical benchmarking was utilized. The company's current suggestion scheme was mapped and analyzed, and a foundation for future improvements was established.GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of the GKN Group, which operates in more than 30 countries around the world and employs about 50 000 individuals. The company manufactures components for aircraft and rocket engines, as well as service and maintenance. In the current situation GKN Aerospace manages a suggestion scheme that depends entirely on an internal IT system and has an average lead time of 43 weeks until a decision is made. The reward system for received suggestions is an economic reimbursement calculated through a complex formula. The entire suggestion scheme process is extensive and includes several loops for conducting the evaluation of suggestions. The thesis resulted in improvement propositions based on studies and situation analysis, but differs from the expected target to improve and develop the current system. The problem that arose was that the current system does not support the company's expectations for the suggestion scheme process. It resulted in a completely new system with associated procedures and reward guidelines were developed to create incentives and higher motivation for the submission of suggestions for improvement. The improvement propositions resulted in: dedicated time for improvements, group-based activities for continuous improvements, start-up meetings, new process, basis for the development of a new IT system, economic and symbolic rewards.Date: 2015-

Abstract:
This study investigates the suggestion system of a mobile browser. The goal of a suggestion system is to assist the user by presenting relevant suggestions in an ordered list. By weighting the different types of suggestions presented to the user, such as history, bookmarks etc., it is investigated how this affects the performance of the suggestion sys- tem. The performance is measured using the position, error and Mean Reciprocal Rank of the chosen suggestion as well as the number of written characters. It is also measured if the user chose to not use the suggestion system, by searching or entering the entire URL. The weights were estimated using a Genetic Algorithm. The evaluation was done by performing an A/B test, were the control group used an unweighted system and the test group used the weights estimated by the genetic algorithm. The results from the A/B test were statistically analyzed using BEST and Bootstrap. The results showed an improvement of position, number of written characters, MMR and the error. There was no change in how much the user used the suggestion system. The thesis concluded that there is a correlation between the position of the desired suggestion and when the user stops typing, and that weighting types is a way to improve said position. The thesis also concludes that there is a need for future work in regards to evaluation of the optimization algorithm and error measurement.

24SevenOffice is a business software application delivered through an on-line rental computing approach called Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Since its launch in 1996 the application has had a steady growth of functionality and, as a side effect, increased significantly in its complexity. That the application has turned out complex was arguably inevitable considering the varied and complex problems it is addressing. But as a result this led to some parts of the business software being complicated to learn and use. Fortunately, good interaction design can manage complexity by providing organization, structure and an underlying logic that once mastered makes everything fall into place. This thesis is analyzing one of the systems core components, the invoice system, and provides redesign suggestions for increasing its usability. The used methods are modeled on Cooper's Goal-Directed Design Methodology, which includes: Personas, Scenarios, Design Principles and Design Patterns. Suggested solutions address both tweaking the existing solution and presenting a vision for a major rework.

Shoemaker<br>Seed saving, whether performed by subsistence farmers, by breeders at land grant universities, or the seed industry, provide the world’s farmers with the needed supply of seeds to produce food crops annually. This thesis considers historical agricultural trends as they relate to the process of seed saving. It utilizes information gathered from primary source materials, historical monographs, and FAO and NGO publications. Chapter two discusses six universal agricultural dichotomies and how they relate to seed saving over time and globally. The dichotomies examined as they relate to seed saving include: subsistence and commercial, commons and commodity, public and private, basic and applied, global north and south, and urban and rural food production. Subsistence and commons oriented agricultural systems have historically traveled towards commercial and commodity forms in developed countries like the United States. As a result, seed saving moved from something farmers did to either public or private institutions that performed basic and applied research for genetic improvement of agricultural crops. As breeding programs looked outward for better breeding materials (germplasm) the importance of the Global North and South and Urban and Rural locales became important. Based on the results of this examination, it is clear that prioritizing subsistence practices and understanding seeds as a commonly held resource play important roles in maintaining agricultural diversity, particularly for more commercialized and commodity oriented agricultures. This shift from subsistence to commercial agriculture in the Global South jeopardizes subsistence agriculture’s ability to maintain agricultural diversity. Chapter three utilized a case study framework and focused on American seed saving within the Corn Belt from 1890 to 1950. The Corn Show, a common annual showcase of corn seed savers in the Midwest, supported both subsistence and commercial agricultural ideals. It also set the stage for the introduction of hybrid corn and suggested an alternative to the commodification of seeds by the industry. These results suggest that seed saving programs today could benefit from a culture that values subsistence practices while still utilizing the benefits of contemporary methods that are common to commodification. The added benefit of community and diversity that are realized by seed saving could develop a culture of seed production that is capable of contributing to rural development goals. This thesis concludes by tying together its discussion of dichotomies, reinforcing the connectedness between different agricultural production systems, and thus, the need for many different types of seed saving.

Making personalized recommendations has become a central part in many platforms, and is continuing to grow with more access to massive amounts of data online. Giving recommendations based on the interests of the individual, rather than recommending items that are popular, increases the user experience and can potentially attract more customers when done right. In order to make personalized recommendations, many platforms resort to machine learning algorithms. In the context of food recipes, these machine learning algorithms tend to consist of hybrid methods between collaborative filtering, content-based methods and matrix factorization. Most content-based approaches are ingredient based and can be very fruitful. However, fetching every single ingredient for recipes and processing them can be computationally expensive. Therefore, this paper investigates if clustering recipes according to what cuisine they belong to and what the main protein is can also improve rating predictions compared to when only collaborative filtering and matrix factorization methods are employed. This suggested content-based approach has a structure of a hierarchical classification, where recipes are first clustered into what cuisine group they belong to, then the specific cuisine and finally what the main protein is. The results suggest that the content-based approach can improve the predictions slightly but not significantly, and can help reduce the sparsity of the rating matrix to some extent. However, it suffers from heavily sparse data with respect to how many rating predictions it can give.<br>Att ge personliga rekommendationer har blivit en central del av många plattformar och fortsätter att bli det då tillgången till stora mängder data har ökat. Genom att ge personliga rekommendationer baserat på användares intressen, istället för att rekommendera det som är populärt, förbättrar användarupplevelsen och kan attrahera fler kunder. För att kunna producera personliga rekommendationer så vänder sig många plattformar till maskininlärningsalgoritmer. När det kommer till matrecept, så brukar dessa maskininlärningsalgoritmer bestå av hybrida metoder som sammanfogar collaborative filtering, innehållsbaserande metoder och matrisfaktorisering. De flesta innehållsbaserande metoderna baseras på ingredienser och har visats vara effektiva. Däremot, så kan det vara kostsamt för datorer att ta hänsyn till varenda ingrediens i varje matrecept. Därför undersöker denna artikel om att klassificera recept hierarkiskt efter matkultur och huvudprotein också kan förbättra rekommendationer när bara collaborative filtering och matrisfaktorisering används. Denna innehållsbaserande metod har en struktur av hierarkisk klassificering, där recept först indelas efter matkultur, specifik matkultur och till slut vad huvudproteinet är. Resultaten visar att innehållsbaserande metoden kan förbättra receptförslagen, men inte på en statistisk signifikant nivå, och kan reducera gleshet i en matris med tillsatta betyg från olika användare med olika recept något. Däremot så påverkas den ansenligt när det är glest med tillgänglighet av data.<br>Eatit

<p>The inability of standard cognitive science, the information-processing approach, to provide theoretical underpinnings for designing usable computer-based systems has already been noted in the literature. It has further been noted, with varying degrees of clarity, that the breakdown of standard cognitive science in this respect is not an independent event, but that it rather is coupled with the spreading of computer use, that is, the appearance of personal computers, which brought into plain view the incommensurability of humans and present-day computers, and the difficulty in "interfacing" them to each other. In this work, the insufficiency of standard cognitive science is investigated towards demonstrating that it lies in the fallacious assumption and reliance on mental representations as formally defined physical entities on which mental operations are performed. It is further argued that, if the formal approach within cognitive science is seriously taken, then cognitive science cannot account for some important cognitive processes, namely abstraction and interpretation.</p><p>In its empirical part, this study is related to a concrete development project. With respect to a possible application within it, some newer cognitive theories are reviewed and discussed, namely those that take into account environment, society, situation, and artefacts. Based on these considerations and the theoretical findings regarding standard cognitive science, a method for designing user interface is proposed and applied. Inspired by phenomenology and bearing similarities with nondirective counselling, it is referred to as "user-directed" method. Possible approaches to assessment of its validity are discussed.</p>

E-commerce distribution channel experiences a dramatic development nowadays. France witnessed a rapid growth rate of online sales in recent years and now ranks as the second largest market in Europe in terms of turnover. On E-commerce websites, customer review system is considered as an efficient tool of E-Word of Mouth, enabling users to write recommendations which will influence potential purchasers. This paper discusses the crucial factors of customer review system. Also, a tool to evaluate review system is elaborated with five criteria such as accessibility, quality, design, interaction and control. Ten case studies of French E-commerce firms are presented according to those criteria in qualitative study. Opinions from French customers are collected through online questionnaires in quantitative study. Researches made from supply (firms) and demand (customers) sides show that accessibility and quality are the main concerns for users and often weaknesses in current review systems. Also, the credibility of reviews is questioned by customers. Focusing on these aspects, the paper aims to give suggestions for designing an ideal customer review system to firms in French e-commerce industry.

Multimodal machine learning is a subfield of machine learning that aims to relate data from different modalities, such as texts and images. One of the many applications that could be built upon this technique is an image retrieval system that, given a text query, retrieves suitable images from a database. In this thesis, a retrieval system based on canonical correlation is used to suggest images for news articles. Different dense text representations produced by Word2vec and Doc2vec, and image representations produced by pre-trained convolutional neural networks are explored to find out how they affect the suggestions. Which part of an article is best suited as a query to the system is also studied. Also, experiments are carried out to determine if an article's date of publication can be used to improve the suggestions. The results show that Word2vec outperforms Doc2vec in the task, which indicates that the meaning of article texts are not as important as the individual words they consist of. Furthermore, the queries are improved by rewarding words that are particularly significant.

Arbetet utforskar logistikens tillämpning inom Trafikverkets verksamhetsområde Trafiks operativa utbildningsinsatser. Totalt har utbildningar för sex olika befattningar studerats med det gemensamma syftet att komma fram till hur dessa kan följas upp med hjälp av mätetal. Det logistiska synsättet kombinerar ett kundorienterat fokus med teori om störningsfria flöden genom att ta hänsyn till helheten. Allt detta med det övergripande syftet att uppnå hög måluppfyllelse till en så låg kostnad som möjligt. De operativa utbildningsinsatserna genomförs runtom i hela landet och har i dagsläget ingen uppföljning av vare sig kostnader, tidsåtgång eller upplevd nöjdhet (sett till elevernas perspektiv). Det finns med andra ord stor potential till förbättringsmöjligheter. Arbetet har genomförts genom att i ett första steg kartlägga nuvarande utbildningar för att skapa förståelse för dess utformning och för att ges ett helhetsperspektiv. Kartläggningarna har genomförts genom att intervjua såväl operativ som taktisk och strategisk personal. Under arbetets gång, och i samband med intervjuerna, har det framkommit en del utmaningar som kan relateras till utbildningsprocesserna vilka presenteras och följs upp genom att ge förslag på förändringsåtgärder. En approximativ kostnadsallokering för en av de studerade befattningarna har även genomförts med hjälp av dess tillhörande kartläggning (i egenskap av tillfällen för resor, hotellövernattning etcetera). Detta i syfte att ge viss insikt i vad kostnaden kan tänkas landa på för den studerade utbildningen. Detta är inte minst av intresse då det är en utbildning som det sker avhopp från vilket genererar en form av bristkostnad. Slutligen avslutas arbetet med en sammanställning av de förslag på mätetal som ges för uppföljning av de studerade utbildningarna. AstraZeneca is one of the largest biopharmaceutical companies in the world, and one of the facilities they have is located in Gärtuna, Södertälje. The facility itself is very big with a floor area of 560.000m2 and has a complex energy system. Caverion holds a facility management contract at AstraZenca, hence operates some of the energy system. The energy investigation of this thesis is part of the work of Caverion to ensure a sustainable energy system in Gärtuna. The energy investigation will include mapping of the energy distribution, seeking for potential of improvements and carry out suggestions for energy optimizations. The methods used during the investigation was a literature study, interviews with personnel of both Caverion and AstraZenca, study of the energy system and calculations relevant to the field of study. The mapping of the energy system includes the heat, steam and cooling distribution. When the mapping of the system was done it was clear that the areas with most potential for improvements were the steam and cooling distribution.The mapping of the steam distribution shows a loss of nearly 46% of the steam at year 2014 and the corresponding cost of about 13,640,000 SEK. Even though the steam distribution showed great potential for improvements, it was found that the work of investigating the system would be too difficult for the scope of the thesis. The cooling distribution however is more accessible and the potential is still high due to low coefficient of performance. Two suggestions for energy optimizations were carried out. The first suggestions involves upgraded electric fan motors for some of the cooling towers, and the second suggestion is to modify existing dry coolers in benefit to utilize free cooling during winter period. The fan motor upgrade based on calculations is estimated to result in a yearly energy saving of at least 1526 MWh and a corresponding cost saving of at least 800,000 SEK per year after the pay-off time (9 months). The dry cooler modification based on calculations is estimated to result in a yearly energy saving of 3053 MWh and a yearly cost saving of 2,083,449 SEK after the pay-off period of 5 months. The investigation carried out in this thesis is relevant to both Caverion and AstraZeneca as it points out the areas with potential of improvements and also gives suggestions on energy optimizations that will reduce energy consumption and result in energy cost savings.

Healthcare systems face many challenges that prevent them from reaching their full potential. Overcoming these challenges can be very difficult in part because of their complexity. Predicting all the possible effects that improvement attempts may create is difficult and high-quality decision support material is difficult to obtain. System dynamics modeling and simulation is a technology that has been applied for some time within the healthcare domain in order to assist the decision-making process. This technology has gained increased interest in the domain over the past decade. This project analyses the application of system dynamics modeling to a specific problem in the healthcare sector, namely that of frequent attenders to the emergency department. A literature review is performed to extract suggestions that could be considered when engaged in the process of developing a system dynamics model for managing frequent attenders in healthcare. It has been found that the research on frequent attenders and their management is very heterogeneous and ambiguous making it difficult to draw strong conclusions about the effectiveness of different management strategies. Model builders are forced to turn to other sources for model data. It is also found that system dynamics modeling of frequent attenders has not yet been done. This situation led to the expansion of the search scope to include related modeling research as the basis for suggestion extraction. 65 suggestions are extracted into three broad categories with the limitation of not being strictly specific to the modeling of frequent attenders, but have a more general nature. And although their value is not evaluated, it is hoped that they could contribute as inspiration to certain system dynamics model development endeavors.

The Master thesis explores the knowledge sharing that takes place during the requirement engineering phase of globally distributed information systems development. In recent years, due to globalization, information systems development activities have become increasingly distributed across different geographical locations. Requirement engineering is an important and knowledge intensive phase in the development of information systems. Requirement engineering is the process of identifying, analyzing, documenting, validating and managing the requirements of a system. Effective and efficient knowledge sharing during the requirement engineering is vital for the successful development of information systems. However, the global distribution of the stakeholders has affected knowledge sharing during requirement engineering in various ways making it more challenging.   Drawing on the theories of knowledge sharing within the field of information systems, this interpretive research study aims at exploring stakeholders’ perceptions about the challenges met during the knowledge sharing in requirement engineering phase of globally distributed information systems development projects. More specifically, this Master thesis explores the perceived challenges and generates a list of suggestions to overcome the challenges by conducting qualitative semi-structured interviews among the key stakeholders, both customers and business analysts.   The findings indicate that the knowledge sharing is influenced by challenges such as cultural differences, language barriers, communication issues, coordination issues arising from multiple stakeholders, time difference and difficulty in sharing tacit knowledge in the globally distributed settings. We begin with a short analysis of the history of Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS). We then discuss the merits and demerits of the regime, such as the arguments between finality, speediness, and correctness. Following from this, historical reforms are discussed, and whether those issues have gotten worse or better since these discussions. The modern problems are discussed, leading to the explanation of the “legitimacy crisis”. As Appellate Mechanisms (AM) and Investment Court Systems (ICS) both propose multi layered systems, we argue whether ISDS must be a “one bite at the apple” system. We expand on the issues of regulatory chill, before showing the contradictions in the granting of awards. From this, a discussion is raised on the advantages of a tenured system of adjudicators, particularly in reference to their apparent bias. We delve deeper into the direct consequences of the perceived issues of ISDS, in the context of human rights, the environment, and other issues of sovereignty.As more reforms are suggested, the question of “what makes arbitration, arbitration?” is raised. From here, we may begin to suggest reforms based on which key factors are to be preserved. Firstly, we discuss current reform options, such as the Mauritius Convention. We take inspiration from existing AM, and prior discussions on the implementation of such a system across the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) frameworks. We analyse whether these discussions have led to change by comparing trends in drafting.Thereon, we offer suggestions of reform. ICS and how this would be implemented, what it would look like structurally, and its positive and negative effects. Using the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and other contemporary ICS reform suggestions, we gain some knowledge of what an ICS regime could and should look like, the implementation of AM previously discussed in this regime, and other. Finally, we offer a different solution to the problems, yet less pragmatic, the termination of arbitration.

Context: In today's world, we have access to so much data than at any time in the past with more and more data coming from smartphones, sensors networks, and business processes. But, most of this data is meaningless, if it's not properly formatted and utilized. Traditionally, in service support teams, issues raised by customers are processed locally, made reports and sent over in the support line for resolution. The resolution of the issue then depends on the expertise of the technicians or developers and their experience in handling similar issues which limits the size, speed, and scale of the problems that can be resolved. One solution to this problem is to make relevant information tailored to the issue under investigation to be easily available. Objectives: The focus of the thesis is to improve turn around time of customer queries using recommendations and evaluate by defining metrics in comparison to existing workflow. As Artificial Intelligence applications can have a broad spectrum, we confine the scope with a relevance in software service and Issue Tracking Systems. Software support is a complicated process as it involves various stakeholders with conflicting interests. During the course of this literary work, we are primarily interested in evaluating different AI solutions specifically in the customer support space customize and compare them. Methods: The following thesis work has been carried out by making controlled experiments using different datasets and Machine learning models. Results: We classified Axis data and Bugzilla (eclipse) using Decision Trees, K Nearest Neighbors, Neural Networks, Naive Bayes and evaluated them using precision, recall rate, and F-score. K Nearest Neighbors was having precision 0.11, recall rate 0.11, Decision Trees had precision 0.11, recall rate 0.11, Neural Networks had precision 0.13, recall rate 0.11 and Naive Bayes had precision 0.05, recall rate 0.11. The result shows too many false positives and true negatives for being able to recommend. Conclusions: In this Thesis work, we have gone through 33 research articles and synthesized them. Existing systems in place and the current state of the art is described. A debug suggestion tool was developed in python with SKlearn. Experiments with different Machine Learning models are run on the tool and highest 0.13 (precision), 0.10 (f-score), 0.11 (recall) are observed with MLP Classification Neural Network.

Tal questão é relevante pois a inovação a partir de todas as pessoas de uma organização, praticamente não tem sido estudada pelos especialistas em inovação. Apesar de muito abordada pelo movimento de qualidade no tema de melhoria continua via sistemas de sugestões do tipo kaizen. A denominação Inovação Horizontal foi criada pelo autor para designar as inovações que se originam a partir de todos os funcionários da organização, usualmente a partir de programas internos de sugestões. Os sistemas internos de sugestões produzem basicamente inovações incrementais, denominadas pelos especialistas em qualidade como melhorias contínuas. Alguns autores apresentaram no passado a teoria de que novações incrementais competem com as inovações radicais. Em contraposição foi criado o conceito de ambidestria segundo o qual as organizações inovadoras produzem tanto inovações radicais quanto incrementais. A presente pesquisa a foi baseada em estudo de caso único de uma empresa de um setor maduro (metalurgia) que pratica Inovação Horizontal (a partir de todas as pessoas). Foram entrevistados dezoito gestores, todos os quatro diretores executivos, dez gerentes, dois coordenadores gerais e dois pesquisadores aposentados. O resultado indicou que a organização é inovadora sistemática, tendo criado um modelo de gestão da inovação ambidestro que produz sistematicamente inovações incrementais e radicais, tanto de produtos como de processo e gestão.<br>This research deals with the effects caused by the search for innovation from all the people of the organization, particularly the possibility of the organization becoming innovative, understood as capable of systematically producing innovations of any nature and magnitude. This issue is relevant because innovation from all the people of an organization, practically has not been studied by the experts in innovation. Although much approached by the movement of quality in the theme of continuous improvement via kaizen type suggestion systems. The denomination Horizontal Innovation was created by the author to designate the innovations that originate from all the employees of the organization, usually from internal programs of suggestions. Internal feedback systems basically produce incremental innovations, called by quality experts as continuous improvements. Some authors have in the past presented the theory that incremental innovations compete with radical innovations. In contrast, the concept of ambidexterity was created whereby innovative organizations produce both radical and incremental innovations. The present research was based on a single case study of a company from a mature sector (metallurgy) that practices Horizontal Innovation (from all people). Eighteen managers, all four executive directors, ten managers, two general coordinators and two retired researchers were interviewed. The result indicated that the organization is a systematic innovation, having created an ambidextrous innovation management model that systematically produces incremental and radicals innovations, of product, process and management.

Over the last few years, pervasive systems have experienced some interesting development. Nevertheless, human-human interaction can also take advantage of those systems by using their ability to perceive the surrounding environment. In this dissertation, we have developed a pervasive system - named ConversationaL Aware Suggestion SYstem (CLASSY) - which is aware of the conversational context and suggests the users potentially useful documents or that, somehow, save time executing a specific task. We have also proposed two different approaches - the Neighborhood one, that uses semantic similarity, based on proximity data in order to classify the relationship between tokens; and the Reinforcement Learning one, that uses implicit feedback associated with each suggestion as a source of knowledge that can be used to improve the system's performance over time. The conducted tests showed that these two approaches not only enhanced the pervasive behavior of the system, but also increased its global performance. A case study regarding the importance of feedback on context-limited environments was also carried out, whose results showed that it is still a useful source of knowledge regardless the conversational environment's characteristics.<br>Ao longo dos últimos anos, os sistemas pervasivos têm sido fonte de um grande desenvolvimento. Contudo, as interações humano-humano também podem tirar vantagem deste tipo de sistemas recorrendo à sua capacidade para entender o ambiente que o rodeia. Nesta dissertação, foi desenvolvido um sistema pervasivo - chamado Sistema de Sugestões Sensível ao Contexto (CLASSY) - que está consciente dos vários contextos conversacionais e que sugere documentos considerados potencialmente úteis para os utilizadores ou que, de alguma forma, poupam tempo na execução de uma tarefa específica. Foram também propostas duas aproximações diferentes - a de vizinhança, que usa similaridade semântica, baseando-se em proximidades de forma a classificar relações entre palavras; e a de Aprendizagem por Reforço, que usa feedback implícito dos utilizadores associado a cada sugestão, como fonte de conhecimento que pode ser utilizado para melhorar a performance do sistema ao longo do tempo. Os testes realizados mostraram que as aproximações acima referidas melhoraram não só o comportamento pervasivo do sistema, mas também a sua performance global. Foi, ainda, analisado um caso de estudo referente à importância de feedback em ambientes com contexto limitado, onde os resultados mostraram que o mesmo continua a ser uma importante fonte de conhecimento, independentemente das características do ambiente conversacional.<br>Mestrado em Engenharia de Computadores e Telemática

A lot of on-line QA systems in different domains are developed, so it makes people’s queries via the internet more. Because language is the most naturally using to people’s intercommunication, it’s really complicated engineering that how to let computers understanding the language. The main factors in QA system’s accuracy not only the Natural Language Processing (NLP), but also the response effective. We collate ontology techniques, NLP techniques, question bank and PHR system to build a healthcare knowledge suggestion system. The system employs Autotag system to intercept user’s asking sentences, semantic templates analyze lexical, and do search and reply the fitness knowledge for user via the knowledge ontology and PHR system at the final. The purpose lies in fitness knowledge suggestions and reply prompt. By the experimental calculation, our system can accomplish get some degree to understand user’s asking, and achieve the goals that reply fitness suggestions. In the research, expect this study can be the advancement of Chinese Natural Language Processing. In life, expect can allow users respect the personal health statue themselves and be more participate in the individual medical plan.

Therefore, how to develop a guiding system to satisfy visitor’s requirements becomes an important issue for museums. This research proposes a context-aware museum route suggestion system that yields routes to fulfill visitor’s requirements. This research assumes that the museum exhibition area has deployed with RFID and wireless network. In order to generate the suggestion route, the users need to enter the information of intend-visiting time and must-see exhibits from PDA. Based on the suggested exhibits by managers, the route suggestion system will generate a list of wish-to-browse exhibits. In addition, the proposed system takes the total number of visitors in each exhibit detected through RFID technology into consideration. Then, the system uses A* algorithm to generate multi-exits suggestion routes. Finally, the suggested routes will be send back to the visitor’s PDA.

This thesis investigates the appropriate fitness and exercise of elderly adults. In addition, develops a fitness test and suggestion system of exercise for elderly adults. The system is developed based on Microsoft Kinect, because it can sense the color image, depth and skeleton. By using the Kinect SDK for Windows, a function of skeletal tracking is developed. Through distinguish the change of coordinate and depth, the system is developed for fitness testing of elderly adults. Long-term tracing of the physical fitness and the evaluate function by this thesis provides appropriate recommendation of the exercise to improve the fitness of the elderly adults. The system uses cloud technology to build the cloud database on cloud services. The personal information, measure information and exercise information is recorded in the cloud services. This thesis propose the fitness test and recommendation system of exercise for elderly adults. Regular measurement of the fitness and strengthen of the weaker part can health aging and improve the quality of elderly adults.
