Abstract:
The primary influencing factors of urban land suitability were analyzed, and evaluation index systems were proposed for urban land suitability. Based on AHP, the weight of every evaluation index was determined, and the evaluation model for urban land suitability was also established by fuzzy synthesis evaluation. Taking the urban land condition of plain country as an application case, and its urban land suitability was assessed based on the evaluation model. The research result shows that the degree of urban land suitability can be indicated with AHP and fuzzy synthesis evaluation, so it is a new effective method for the evaluation of urban land suitability.

Abstract:
Urban land use suitability evaluation is the basic work of urban land use planning and management. The evaluation method is a core in urban land use suitability evaluation. Traditional urban land use suitability evaluation methods are GIS-based methods which often can not get satisfactory results for the complex nonlinear urban land use system. Artificial neural network is a frontier theory of complex non-linearity scientific and artificial intelligence science. It is a new method to evaluate urban land use suitability. This paper took the land use suitability evaluation of Hefei city as an example, building a back propagation neural network with 8 neurous of input layer, 5 neurons of hide layer and 3 neurons of output layer. The analysis shows: the high suitability area is 682.27 km2in Hefei city, being about 8.73% of the total study area; the middle suitability area is 5965.76 km2, or about 76.33% of the total area and the low suitability area is 1167.35 km2, or about 14.94% of the total area. The results reflect the actual situation in Hefei city. The study shows that the back propagation neural network model can overcome the shortcomings of traditional evaluation methods. It means that artificial neural network is suitable for urban land use suitability evaluation. This reflects that artificial neural network has great academic value and application prospect in urban land use suitability evaluation. It also reflects that this study can provide a new idea and method for urban land use suitability evaluation.

Abstract:
In the present study and research work, land suitability evaluation (qualitative classification) was made for the Bilverdy research station of the Islamic Azad University in East Azarbaijan for wheat, barley, alfalfa, maize and safflower. The Simple Limitation Method (SLM), the Limitation Method regarding Number and Intensity (LMNI) and the Parametric Methods (PM) such as the square-root and the Storie methods were used. The landscape, climate and soil and characteristics that influence suitability of the land for particular crops have been combined according to the adopted methodology. Economic factors were excluded and moderate level of management was assumed. The results of different methods show that the most important limiting factors are climate, pH, organic matter (OM), gravel, salinity and sodicity, taken either alone or in combination. For safflower, the cation exchange capacity (CEC) can be added to these factors. Evaluation by the SLM and LMNI methods result in similar suitability classes, which confirms previous findings by other researchers for the same crops. However, in many cases the use of parametric methods, especially the square-root method, turned to be more realistic in distinguishing separate suitability classes. This study not only compares different methods and their results but also evaluates the suitability of the study area for particular crops. According to the square-root method, the area can be recommended as marginally suitable for cultivation of wheat, barley, alfalfa and safflower and is expected to yield about 40–65% of optimal production.

Abstract:
In the last 20 years, laboratory work on geopolymer technology has been confronted with the necessity to determine whether a certain clay material has the properties necessary to form genuine geopolymer when thermally treated and alkalized. The assessment of the properties of clay source materials and of the ability of the materials to form geopolymer 3D netting mainly involves the study of the aluminum transformation level during the thermal treatment of the clay. The presented study combines several classical analytical methods (chemical and mineralogical analyses, the calculation of the Hinckley index (HI) based on X-ray diffraction analyses, and the measurement of particle size distribution) for eleven samples of kaolin and kaolinitic clay of various origins and coming from different locations. The results of these methods have been compared with those of 27Al magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR) in solid state. Based on them, the mentioned methods could be combined for an estimation of the aluminum-ion behavior during the thermal treatment of the clay. HI calculations have shown favorable agreement in 63% of the kaolin samples studied, especially for high purity kaolin without significant impurities in the form of feldspars and/or quartz. The main aim of this work is not to replace the precise MAS–NMR analysis, but to offer an alternative evaluation method when MAS–NMR is not available.

Abstract:
Rational development and utilization of urban underground space has become an important measure to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of land resources, improve urban capacity and optimize urban layout. Underground space is an important part of the geological environment because of its natural resources. Unreasonable development will lead to geological environment problems. In this paper, combined with the actual situation of Dalian City, on the basis of comprehensive analysis of geological environment conditions, eight indicators are selected from the aspects of topography, engineering geological conditions, hydrogeological conditions, geological hazards, ecological factors and human activities to construct the hierarchy model of suitability evaluation for underground space development in Dalian City. The analytic hierarchy process and comprehensive index method are applied to the evaluation. The results show that: the suitable area, secondary suitable area, less suitable area and unsuitable area are 3812.58km2, 5430.91km2, 2711.38km2 and 1659.06km2, accounting for 28.00%, 39.89%, 19.92% and 12.19% respectively. The evaluation results can provide the basis for the future development and utilization planning of underground space in Dalian city.

Abstract:
Land conversion to organic agriculture is the answer to land degradation problems that interfere with land resources sustainability. An evaluation of land-use suitability is crucial to measure the appropriateness of land for agricultural cultivation. Specifically, organic rice cultivation has some particular standard criteria such as temperature, rainfall, soil depth, pH, c-organic, slope, erosion level, a transition period that influence ranking results, and land suitability classes. Eight organic farmlands were used as alternatives, namely Sawangan, Mangunsari, Tirtosari, Podosoko, Butuh, Krogowanan, Kapuhan, and Jati. Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy process is used to determine the level of importance of the criteria based on weight assessments by three agricultural experts. The ELECTRE method is applied to rank the most suitable land from several alternatives for organic rice cultivation. The combination of these two multi-criteria decision-making methods complements each other to solve problems in land suitability evaluation. A web-based decision support system (DSS) was created to accelerate data processing integration and present factual information from the land suitability selection process. The implementation of DSS with fuzzy-AHP ELECTRE for evaluating land-use suitability in organic rice cultivation provided the best score for Tirtosari with Ekl=4 and spearman rank correlation the system comparison results with actual data rs=0.95. This study's results indicate that integrating the web with fuzzy-AHP ELECTRE is quite effectively applied for decision-making in organic farming.

Abstract:
The evaluation of scale management suitability provides a comprehensive assessment of the various factors driving farmland management conditions. This research objectively evaluated the conditions for scale management suitability by applying the entropy-TOPSIS method with the aim of effectively balancing the space for agricultural production, the development of towns, and ecological protection. First, to ensure a balance between agricultural production, urban development, and ecological protection, 13 indexes were selected to represent the following three areas: natural factors, socioeconomic factors, and characteristics of cultivated land factors. The original matrix was standardized to evaluate the suitability of natural resources, the social economy, and cultivated land conditions, and a comprehensive suitability evaluation of scale management in the Jiangjin District of Chongqing was conducted. The research results divide the study area into four regions based on the level of scale management suitability. Examining the spatial distribution, the level of scale management suitability decreased gradually from north to south, regions at the high and middle levels of scale management suitability were concentrated in the northern area beside the Yangtze river, and the regions at a low level were concentrated in the southern mountain area. This research can provide a reference for the rational utilization of land resources and land use policymaking.

For the common highway bridge strengthening works, this article divides the evaluation of bridge strengthening works into three categories layers - durability, safety and suitability, to evaluate the bridge strengthening from a technical level. Then analyzed separately for each category layer, select the parameter indices which have an important influence on each category layer to be the evaluation indicators. When evaluating the safety and suitability, the durability has been taken into consideration to amend their evaluation scores. On the basis of the obtained scores of the category layers, by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process method and the weighted average method, we can get the evaluate score of the members, components, parts entirety and the entirety of bridge successively. Proposed a kind of post-evaluation method applies to the common highway bridge reinforcement. This post-evaluation method provides theoretical references for the effect post-evaluation bridge reinforcement.

Abstract:
The article reviews the application of GIS technology to urban planning and the research progress on construction suitability evaluation. It points out that the present evaluation method invisibly weakens high eco-sensitivity areas and unsafe areas, and therefore the evaluation process can not objectively reflect the different angles of urban land use and its contradiction and unity. Thus, the article suggests strengthening the idea of giving priority to ecology and city safety through analyzing key sensitive factors and perfecting multi-factor superposition method. It explores a new idea for land suitability evaluation from three angles, that is, eco-sensitivity evaluation, construction suitability evaluation and city safety. An empirical study is conducted on the master planning of Hongya County Town.

Abstract:
A decrease in the area of soybean farming has an effect on reducing soybean production from year to year so that it has not been able to meet the needs of national soybean consumption. Land suitability assessment is an effort to be able to optimize land use. In the process of assessing land suitability manually, it is considered inaccurate. The purpose of this study was to determine the land suitability class for soybean plants. The land suitability classification system used is the FAO land suitability classification classified at the sub-class level. Land suitability evaluation uses a matching system, as well as comparing the characteristics of land with plant growing community formulated in the technical evaluation of land guidelines for agricultural commodities. In the matching process Leibig's minimum law is used to determine the limiting factors that will affect the suitability of the class and sub-class of the land. Requirements for growing plants become kiteria in conformity evaluation. The results showed that the limiting factors of land suitability for soybean plants that had to be improved were temperature, rainfall, soil texture, C-Organic, N-Total and P-Available soil. The limiting factor of temperature and soil texture cannot be improved so that the marginal fit class (S3) on actual land suitability remains marginal fit (S3) in terms of potential land suitability.

Abstract:
The ecological environment is fragile in Xinjiang, so it is necessary to carry out land reclamation for mines to restore its ecology. The premise of mines land reclamation is to determine the direction of land reclamation, which requires the suitability evaluation for land reclamation. In this paper, the evaluation index system and suitability evaluation model for land reclamation of nonmetallic mines in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were established. This model was established by using factor analysis, cluster analysis, and discriminant analysis and tested by back-substitution. First, using 149 units of 21 nonmetallic mines as research samples, the samples were divided into 4 categories by a combination of factor and cluster analysis. Then, the samples were trained using a discriminant analysis method to establish the corresponding land reclamation suitability evaluation model. This model was verified by back-substitution with an accuracy of 98.7%, and only 2 of 149 samples were misclassified. Finally, the evaluation model was applied to the Dabancheng Toga Solo limestone mine in Urumqi. Evaluation analysis of 15 land reclamation units of this mine showed satisfactory results. The evaluation model developed here could serve as a powerful complement to the evaluation of land reclamation suitability in Xinjiang.

Abstract:
Multifunctional forest management is a common topic and hotspot of forestry research in recent years. Evaluating the suitability of forest land for multifunctional management is the first and most important step for realizing sustainable and multifunctional forest management. This research aims to explore the suitability and forest dominant function evaluation model for multifunctional forestry management in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. Using the model proposed in the paper, we expect to provide decision-making information for forest multifunctional management. The study incorporated the distance of the ridge lines extracted by the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data into the evaluation index, and established the ecological status index (IE) and the forest productivity index (IF). Moreover, a nonlinear multifunctional site quality evaluation model (MSQEM) was constructed to evaluate the suitability of multifunctional forest management. A multifunctional management dominant function orientation model (MDFOM) was constructed by Principal Component Analysis, and divided each subcompartment into one of the four resource subgroups, such as timber production function, water conservation function, water and soil conservation function, and other functions. The MDFOM model was used for Rongshui County’s forest resource by 11 factors, which were selected because of their easy availability. The factors contain slope, soil thickness, altitude, average age, etc. The results showed that the number of small classes with multifunctional site index larger than 0.5 was 20,841 (56.87%), and the multifunctional suitable area was in clustered distribution, which was consistent with the reality. The result of subcompartment dominant function evaluated by MDFOM was compared with the planning forest species, the overall accuracy was 61%, and the accuracy rate of timber production function was 94.2%. The number of subcompartments with good and above multifunctional management status was 9174 (44.20%), with an area of 48,963.41 hm2 (51.24%). The multifunctional management status of subcompartments in the study area is at the middle and lower level. Thus, it is urgent to further improve the multi-functional management level of each subcompartment in this area and formulate scientific reasonable and multifunctional forestation measures.

Abstract:
<p>Evaluation of arable lands and agricultural potential to support current and future agricultural uses is one of the best agricultural policies for food security in developing countries. Hence, studies related to land suitability evaluation can lead to sustainable land use. The aims of this research were qualitative land suitability evaluation, land production potential prediction and quantitative land suitability evaluation on the basis of the FAO model for rice in Sangar region, northern Iran. Qualitative evaluation was carried out using the maximum limitation and parametric methods. Land production potential was determined by the agro-ecological zoning (AEZ) model. Land suitability classes according to maximum limitation, Storie and square root parametric methods are determined S3, S3-N1 and S2-S3, respectively. Rice radiation-thermal production potential was calculated as 7.65 t/ha; mean land production potentials, using Storie and square root formulas were predicted respectively, as 3.69 and 4.52 t/ha and mean actual yield was estimated as 2.81 t/ha. The results of this study showed that use of the square root formula is more appropriate than Storie formula as far as land production potential calculation is concerned. Soil limitations and weak management level have caused majority of land units to have moderate quantitative suitability (S2) for rice cultivation. Comparison between qualitative and quantitative suitability classes demonstrates that quantitative suitability classes are significantly increased due to crop adaptation with climate agents.</p>
