"The minuet is one of the most representative dance forms of the Baroque era. Thanks to its popularity, it becomes part of stage works like operas and ballets, instrumental suites, later (in the Classical and Romantic era) movements of symphonies, sonatas, string quartets, and trios.
The six piano suites of R. Nathaniel Dett (1882-1943) constitute a substantial body of piano music that illustrates the musical development of an important, but historically neglected American musician. Dett was a seminal figure in the preservation and study of spirituals, both as a writer and choral leader, and as a great teacher and inspirer of African-American musicians in the generations that followed him. Educated at Oberlin and Eastman, he was lauded as the first American composer to fuse Negro folk music with European art music tradition.

The writing of a series of li

Abstract Chapter 3 analyzes touch sounds as music. It is organized as a north-south tour of the body, from fingertips to toes. The traversal begins with motivic fingernail clicks in Chapman Nyaho’s recording of Dett and Arrau’s recording of Beethoven. Fingertip placement sounds are exemplified by the Guarneri Quartet’s recording of Schubert. The location of Nelsova’s hammer-ons is related to the tonality in a cello courante by Bach. The relationship between harmonic form and classical guitar squeaks is demonstrated by recordings of Tárrega by Archilés, Hartzell, and Bream. The sounded movement

The composer’s record contains a valuable artistic heritage that is appreciated by performers but the study of his works is not in the center of interest of musicologists yet. However, the article will present some examples of the Mulearian creativity. Analyzing the composition portfolio of A. Mulear,
