Full textTeamwork is one of the ways to develop the transversal competencies expected in industry, especially in the field of Information Technology. However, the success of teamwork during programming courses depends on the choice of tools that facilitates collaborative work, organization and conflict management. Objectively evaluating both the individual and the collaborative work must be a great part of this choice. Among these tools, we propose to retain the version control system Git. Indeed, it is one of the most used systems in the industry and reaps many benefits for both students and teachers, including the minimization of cost of educational materials. Also, Git facilitates teamwork’s evaluation by giving access to information recorded in its history. It then becomes necessary to define the criteria to be applied to make an analysis and a judgment. We propose in this thesis an inventory of the potential evaluation criteria and identify the most relevant ones in terms of evaluation of the regularity and quantitative contribution considering the biases that they induce. Moreover, one of the difficulties that teachers may encounter when producing an assessment is not only to evaluate contributions, but also to be able to monitor them regularly, especially when teams are numerous. We then recommend a support tool based on the criteria we identified, offering a general overview and facilitating access to details. Its evaluation as part of a course allowed us to identify different team profiles as well as the limits to use of such a tool to make a judgment.

Full textThis PhD aims to understand how pre service education programmes in health education might have an impact on young teachers' professionalization. The diversity of training programmes at stage in the Master « Métier de l'Enseignement, de l'Education et de la Formation » (MEEF) depends on the chosen degree (1er ou 2nd degré), the type (Professeur des écoles, conseiller principal d'éducation, professeur de lycées et collèges), young teacher's status, (étudiants ou fonctionnaires stagiaires) and place where students are trained. This professionalization has to be seen from a professionnal development's prospect that enables us to take into account the training programme, as well as young teachers and the complexity of health education. Ergonomic psychology has been chosen as a theoretical frame to describe products and processes of this development. Studies seek to approach the tasks understood and grasped by young teachers as well as the various processes involved and factors closely connected. The MMR strategy consists of a longitudinal follow-up, by questionnaires, a sort of logbook gathering all the information and peer's instructions taking into account the various time factors and training programmes. Our results show that health education's training plans can reveal great variations from one training programme to another and influence the task's redefining process. It seems that theoretical knowledges would rather impact on the way the task is understood, whereas practical experiences with pupils would strongly impact on young teachers characteristics (interest, self-confidence feeling, health education's relevance in the forthcoming practice.) The task appropriation when it does take place, confirms the adoption of a promotive health's perspective which aims to build the health skills grounds, pupils careful consideration, and an environmental awareness where practices take place. The advanced justifications refer to professional and training experiences, rather than to individual factors. To conclude, it is indeed the alternative and incorporating nature of the pre service education that seems to act as the driving force of the young teachers 'development and professionalization, regarding health education

Rouby, Etienne. "Population dynamics of elusive species : The case of the common dolphin in the North-East Atlantic Ocean." Thesis, La Rochelle, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022LAROS016.
Full textElusive species are notoriously difficult to monitor individually and therefore it is difficult to estimate their anthropogenic mortality and to implement management policies. As an elusive species, the common dolphin, Delphinus delphis is a good example of these conservation challenges. The North-East Atlantic population is affected by bycatch that threatens its viability. However, demographic information on this population is very limited and our understanding of the spatio-temporal structure and dynamics of bycatch is insufficient to set appropriate management objectives. This project aims to determine the current status of this common dolphin population with regard to conservation objectives in European waters with a focus on the Bay of Biscay. First a flexible vital rates estimation approach has been developed in order to highlight variations in vital rates over time and the effects of covariates while taking into account individual heterogeneity. Second, using such a methodological approach through a cross-sectional monitoring, allowed us to highlight both the temporal variations of the population vital rates and the impact of bycatch on the common dolphin population demography. The population is not viable and the population growth rate seems to have deteriorated since the mid 2000's. Third, using biased data from on-board observers, the number of incidental catches on a weekly basis was quantified for ten ICES sub-area over sixteen years. Fourth, the resulting vital rates combined with by catch estimates finally allowed the production of sustainable bycatch thresholds through a Management Strategy Evaluation approach in line with the European conservation objective

Full textMeasuring the beam transverse emittance is fundamental in every accelerator, in particular for colliders, where its precise determination is essential to maximize the luminosity and thus the performance of the colliding beams. Synchrotron Radiation (SR) is a versatile tool for non-destructive beam diagnostics, since its characteristics are closely related to those of the source beam. At CERN, being the only available diagnostics at high beam intensity and energy, SR monitors are exploited as the proton beam size monitor of the two higher energy machines, the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The thesis work documented in this report focused on the design, development, characterization and optimization of these beam size monitors. Such studies were based on a comprehensive set of theoretical calculations, numerical simulations and experiments.A powerful simulation tool has been developed combining conventional softwares for SR simulation and optics design, thus allowing the description of an SR monitor from its source up to the detector. The simulations were confirmed by direct observations, and a detailed performance studies of the operational SR imaging monitor in the LHC, where different techniques for experimentally validating the system were applied, such as cross-calibrations with the wire scanners at low intensity (that are considered as a reference) and direct comparison with beam sizes de-convoluted from the LHC luminosity measurements. In 2015, the beam sizes to be measured with the further increase of the LHC beam energy to 7 TeV will decrease down to ∼190 μm. In these conditions, the SR imaging technique was found at its limits of applicability since the error on the beam size determination is proportional to the ratio of the system resolution and the measured beam size. Therefore, various solutions were probed to improve the system’s performance such as the choice of one light polarization, the reduction of depth of field effect and the reduction of the imaging wavelength down to 250 nm.In parallel to reducing the diffraction contribution to the resolution broadening, the extraction mirror, found as the main sources of aberrations in the system was redesigned. Its failure was caused by the EM coupling with the beam’s fields that led to overheating and deterioration of the coating. A new system’s geometry featuring a smoother transition in the beam pipe was qualified in terms of longitudinal coupling impedance via the stretched wire technique. A comparison with the older system was carried out and resulted in a reduction of the total power dissipated in the extraction system by at least a factor of four.A new, non-diffraction limited, SR-based monitor based on double slit interferometry was designed as well as an alternative method to the direct imaging. Its principle is based on the direct relation between the interferogram fringes visibility and the beam size.Since the beam emittance is the physical quantity of interest in the performance analysis of the LHC, determining the optical functions at the SR monitors is as relevant as measuring the beam size. The “K-modulation” method for the optical function determination was applied for the first time in the LHC IR4, where most of the profile monitors sit. The βs at the quadrupoles were measured and via two different propagation algorithms the βs at the BSRT and the WS were obtained reducing significantly the uncertainty at the monitors location
