Abstract:
Layered structure zirconium sulphophenyl phosphate (ZrSPP) was prepared from the precipitation of Zr4+ ion and m-sulphophenyl phosphonic (SPP) acid at a mole ratio of P to Zr = 2.0. The reflective index measurement indicated that the methanol permeability of unmodified Nafion® 117 was 2.3 × 10−6 cm2/s at RT while that of the Nafion®/ZrSPP membrane (∼50 μm thick) decreased to 6.5 × 10−7 cm2/s. Nafion®/ZrSPP (10 wt%) nanocomposite membranes delivered constant power output 104 mW/cm2 @ 0.4 V under 1 M MeOH/dry air at 70 °C even in the wide range of air stoichiometry from 1.5 to 3.0.

Chlorin e6 and m-THPP induced a strong tumor and skin photosensitization. In contrast, the same doses of 21-thiaporphyrin produced no skin sensitization and gave approximately 10 mm tumor necrosis after light exposure, in comparison to the 5-6 mm necrosis in

Disodium 2,4-sulphophenyl- N-tert-butylnitrone (NXY-059) is a novel free radical-trapping compound that is neuroprotective in both rodent and primate models of acute ischaemic stroke. Neuroprotection in vitro by NXY-059 has not been reported previously, and we have now investigated whether such an effect can be detected using a simple cell culture model of neurotoxicity. Neuron-like cells of the neuroblastoma-derived clonal cell line N1E-115 were exposed to the free radical-generating agent sodium nitroprusside (SNP), which produced a concentration-dependent reduction in mitochondrial complex

Abstract:
ABSTRACTColloidal 60 nm ZrO2 particles have been treated with aqueous solutions of phosphoric acid and sulphophenyl-phosphonic acid (SPPA). This leads to the covalent bonding of P-OH and C6H4-SO3H acid groups onto the surface of the particles. The resulting acidity yields a significant proton conductivity at the surface of the particles. The proton conductivity of the ZrO2-H3PO4 system is quite stable against a change of relative humidity and temperature. However, it remains limited by the low acidity of the POH group. On the contrary, the proton conductivity of the ZrO2-SPPA system is almost t

Objective: The current investigation aimed to study the cytotoxicity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) alone, Compared with Conventionally used calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2] or in combination of both materials to Human Gingival Fibroblast cells (HGFs) at different time intervals. Materials and Methods: Cytotoxicity of AgNPs and Ca(OH)2 was tested, in-vitro, using cultured HGFs. After 24 hours and 7 days of exposure, Cytotoxicity was assessed using multiparametric assay kit including extracellular Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDHe) and 2,3- bis (2-methoxy- 4-nitro- 5-sulphophenyl)- 2H- tetrazolium- 5-car

Abstract:
Abstract Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is generated by neutrophils during the innate immune response. ATP is released from cells by various stimuli and during inflammation but whether ATP is released by and participates in the response to HOCl is unclear. This study investigated vasomotor effects of HOCl on the porcine coronary artery (PCA) and the involvement of ATP and purine receptors. HOCl at 100 μM induced rapid and transient endothelium-dependent relaxation followed by slow and sustained endothelium-independent relaxation. Transient endothelium-dependent relaxation was induced by 500 μM HOCl,

Shivering compromises post‐operative recovery and patient comfort. Shivering is also an impediment to targeted temperature management (TTM), now standard of care for cardiac arrest. Without an effective drug to suppress shivering (referred to here as a thermolytic) high cost and difficulty of temperature management is restricting access to TTM outside of large hospitals and for conditions such as stroke. A more efficacious thermolytic is needed for post‐operative control of shivering and to improve patient comfort during TTM. Our prior work in rats, based on strong scientific premise from the
