Ten jumping spider species published by Song and Chai in 1992 are restudied. The following new synonyms are proposed: Chinattus emeiensis (Peng & Xie, 1995) syn. nov. [=C. undulatus (Song & Chai, 1992)], Evarcha paralbaria Song & Chai, 1992 syn. nov. (= E. coreana Seo, 1988), Ptocasius nanyuensis (Xie & Peng, 1995) syn. nov. [=P. badongensis (Song & Chai, 1992)]. Evarcha orientalis (Song & Chai, 1992) is transferred to Nigorella Wesołowska & Tomasiewicz, 2008. The synonymy status of Chinattus szechwanensis (Prószyński, 1992) with C. undulatus (Song & Chai, 1992) and Nigorella hunanensis (Peng, Xie & Kim, 1993) with N. hirticeps (Song & Chai, 1992) are restored.

In this study, we developed very simple and ULSI (ultra large scale integration) compatible fabrication processes for group-IV (Si1 –xGe x and Si) semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) to apply hybrid ULSIs with photonic and electron devices, using double Ge+/Si+ hot-ion implantation into a SiO2 layer with larger bandgap EG and the post-furnace annealing. We successfully demonstrated the near-infrared (IR) photoluminescence (PL) from Si1 –xGe x-QDs. Transmission electron microscopy observations of single-crystallized Si1 –xGe x-QDs revealed that the diameter and the QD density were 3.6 ± 0.9 nm and (2.6 ± 0.4) × 1012 cm−2, respectively. In addition, Ge atoms were detected in the Si1 –xGe x-QDs by the energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy analysis, and the Ge fraction of Si1– xGe x-QDs was varied from 0.06 to 0.26 by changing the Ge ion dose. The increase in the PL intensity by forming gas annealing was attributed to the dangling-bond reduction by the H-atom termination method. The PL spectrum of Si1 –xGe x-QDs was fitted by PL components of two QD structures containing Si1 –xGe x and Si materials. The PL intensity and PL-peak photon energy of Si1 –xGe x-QDs strongly depended on the Ge fraction. The Si1 –xGe x-QDs achieved the maximum PL intensity at x ≈ 0.13. High PL-peak photon energy (∼1.31 eV) of Si1 –xGe x-QDs is attributed to the quantum confinement effect of carriers in QDs. Consequently, group-IV semiconductor QDs including Si1 –xGe x, Si, SiC, and C, through the simple hot-ion implantation into the SiO2 layer, exhibited a wide range of PL emissions from the near-IR to ultraviolet regions.

The publication contains review of the genera of jumping spiders: Emertonius, Evarcha, Nigorella, Padilothorax, Stagetillus, and delimits five more new genera, provides graphic documentation for species considered recognizable and adds description of four new species. The taxonomic procedures are carried out according to methodology of "pragmatic classification", which stresses importance of graphic diagnostic characters presented in a comparative way (see also review at “Methodological postulates” subchapter). Investiga os discursos de indígenas ka’apor sobre seus papéis sociais demarcados no contexto da educação escolar indígena, em particular no que se refere ao empoderamento da mulher dentro da comunidade Xie pihũ renda, Terra Indígena Alto Turiaçu, no Maranhão. A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa com orientação etnográfica, foram realizadas observações e gravações junto a indígenas ka’apor e analisamos seus discursos a partir de quatro vertentes: constituição da comunidade; relações de parentesco e genealogia das famílias na comunidade; relações de trabalho e poder; conhecimento, escola e relações interculturais. Como resultados, constatamos similaridades nos discursos das pessoas entrevistadas acerca da relevância da educação formal como forma de modificação dos papéis sociais, principalmente das mulheres e na sua ascensão às posições de poder. Além disso, identificamos que os discursos manifestam uma apropriação da nova configuração social e buscam influenciar outras pessoas da comunidade, respeitando sempre todo um conjunto de tradições ancestrais ka’apor.

В представленной статье рассматриваются теоретические представления об основаниях феномена наказания в промежуток времени от Ветхого завета до формирования позитивистской методологии середины XIX в. Автор опирается в своем исследовании на трактовку культуры согласно деятельностной концепции, разработанной ростовской философской школой. Культура понимается в качестве совокупности способов жизнедеятельности человека. Исходя из этого наказание можно представить как определенный инструмент реализации индивидами своего права на обеспечение безопасности своей и социума. Автор демонстрирует обоснованность наказания в эпоху Ветхого Завета и Средневековья на Божественной воле. В связи с этим доминировали как виды наказания талион и ордалия. Суд человеческий здесь, следуя закону вечному Бога, наказывает не столько самого преступника, сколько сам акт преступного деяния. В Новое время на сцене социогуманитарной теоретической мысли появляется концепция общественного договора. В связи с этим основания наказания эксплицируются в поле рациональности. Родоначальник теории общественного договора Т. Гоббс показывает детерминацию наказания произволом индивидов. И. Кант и И. Г. Фихте видят это основание в субъективной воле. А Г. В. Ф. Гегель такое основание усматривает в воле объективной. Появление позитивистской методологии О. Конта приводит к революции в понимании оснований социокультурных феноменов. Но это уже предмет новых исследований. The presented article considers the theoretical ideas about the foundations of the phenomenon of punishment in the time interval from the Old Testament to the formation of positivist methodology of the middle of the 19th century. The author relies in his study on the interpretation of culture according to the concept of activity, developed by the Rostov school of philosophy. Culture is understood as a set of ways of human life activity. On this basis, punishment can be presented as a certain tool for individuals to realize their right to ensure the security of their own and society. The author demonstrates the validity of punishment in the Old Testament and Middle Ages on the Divine will. In this connection, the talion and horde of punishment dominated as types of punishment. The human judgment here, following the eternal law of God, punishes not so much the offender himself as the very act of the criminal act. In modern times, the concept of the social contract emerges on the scene of social and humanitarian theoretical thought. On this basis, the grounds of punishment are explicated in the field of rationality. T. Hobbes, the founder of the social contract theory, shows the determination of punishment by the arbitrariness of individuals. I. Kant and J. G. Fichte see this ground in the subjective will. And H.W.F. Hegel sees such a basis in the objective will. With the emergence of the positivist methodology of O. Comte leads to a revolution in the understanding of the foundations of socio-cultural phenomena. But this is already the subject of new research.

В рамках статьи исследован вопрос развития военно-полицейских органов в России до 1917 г. Отмечено, что до формирования кадровых военно-полицейских частей уже с XVII в. законом предусматривались специальные воинские чины, на которых были возложены задачи по поддержанию правопорядка в армии на ранних этапах ее становления. Приведен пример полицейской службы Ингерманландского драгунского полка в годы Отечественной войны 1812 г., который стал прообразом кадровой военно-полицейской части. Рассмотрены организация службы, функции, полномочия, этапы формирования и законодательные акты, регламентирующие деятельность военно-полицейских частей. Раскрыта краткая история гвардейского жандармского полуэскадрона, приведены примеры выполнения военной полицией возложенных задач. Произведены обобщение, структурирование задач и функций, возложенных на военную полицию в годы Первой мировой войны. Сделан вывод, что создание в составе армии кадровых военно-полицейских частей стало одним из этапов и логическим продолжением генезиса военно-полицейских органов в России. Проведен сравнительный анализ деятельности военно-полицейских органов в различное время, при этом отмечено, что задачи и функции военной полиции с течением времени оставались в основном неизменными. Within the framework of the article, the issue of the military-police bodies development in Russia from 1815 to 1917 is investigated. It is noted that before the formation of cadre military-police units, already from the 17th century, the law provided for special military ranks, who were entrusted with the tasks of maintaining law and order in the army at the early stages of its formation. An example is given of the police service of the Ingermanland Dragoon Regiment during the Patriotic War of 1812, which became the prototype of the regular military-police unit. The organization of the service, functions, powers, stages of formation and legislative acts regulating the activities of military-police units are considered. A brief history of the Guards gendarme half-squadron is revealed, examples of the military police performing the assigned tasks are given. The generalization, structuring of the tasks and functions assigned to the military police during the First World War are made. It is concluded that the creation of personnel military-police units within the army was one of the stages and a logical continuation of the genesis of military-police bodies in Russia. A comparative analysis of the activities of military-police bodies at different times is carried out, while it is noted that the tasks and functions of the military police have remained largely unchanged over time.

В статье анализируются отдельные положения уголовного законодательства Российской империи второй половины XIX в., отражающие процесс трансформации подходов законодателя в назначении и исполнении наказаний в отношении малолетних и несовершеннолетних преступников. Тема проведенного исследования в условиях современного реформирования отечественной пенитенциарной системы имеет существенную актуальность, поскольку концепция исполнения наказания несовершеннолетних преступников, разработанная в России в XIX в., доказала свою эффективность и жизнеспособность. Автор, опираясь на положения нормативных актов, показал поступательное развитие законодательства Российской империи, определяющего особенности наказания несовершеннолетних преступников. Начиная со второй половины XIX в. основным видом исправительных учреждений для подростков, совершивших преступления, становятся исправительные приюты, деятельность которых осуществлялась на основании законодательства Российской империи, но на деньги меценатов, частных лиц и общественных организаций. Как показала практика, такое государственно-частное партнерство в сфере исполнения наказаний в отношении несовершеннолетних преступников стало действенным средством в перевоспитании оступившихся подростков, существенно сократило уровень подростковой рецидивной преступности в России. Проведенное исследование позволило автору сделать вывод о том, что во второй половине XIX в. под воздействием общеевропейских тенденций наказания в отношении несовершеннолетних стали менее жестоки; принцип наказания, предполагающий кару за совершенное деяние, уступил место принципу перевоспитания. The article analyzes certain provisions of the criminal legislation of the Russian Empire of the second half of the XIX century, reflecting the process of transformation of the approaches of the legislator in the appointment and execution of punishments for younger and juvenile offenders. The topic of the research in the context of modern reform of the home penitentiary system is of significant relevance, as the concept of execution of punishment of juvenile offenders, developed in Russia in the XIX century, demonstrated its effectiveness and viability. The author, relying on the provisions of normative acts, shows the progressive development of legislation of the Russian Empire, which defines the features of punishing juvenile offenders. Starting the second half of the XIX century the main type of correctional institutions for teenagers committed crimes were correctional shelters, the activities of which were carried out on the basis of the legislation of the Russian Empire as well as on the money of patrons, individuals and public organizations. As practice showed such a public-private partnership in the field of execution of punishments for juvenile offenders became an effective tool in re-educating misguided teenagers, significantly reduced the level of juvenile recidivism in Russia. The research allows the author to conclude that in the second half of the XIX century, under the influence of European trends, punishments for minors became less severe; the principle of punishment, which implies punishment for the committed act, gave way to the principle of re-education.

Even a few minutes of exposure to oxygen in the delivery room in very preterm and immature infants may have detrimental effects. The initial oxygenation in the delivery room should therefore be optimized, but knowledge gaps, including initial fraction of oxygen (FiO<sub>2</sub>) and how FiO<sub>2</sub> should be changed to reach an optimal oxygen saturation measured by pulse oximetry (SpO<sub>2</sub>) target within the first 5–10 min of life, remain. In order to answer this question, we therefore reviewed relevant literature. For newly born infants with gestational age (GA) <32 weeks in need of positive pressure ventilation (PPV) immediately after birth, we identified 2 fundamental issues: (1) the optimal initial FiO<sub>2</sub> and (2) the target SpO<sub>2</sub> within the first 5–10 min of life. For newly born infants between 29 and 31 weeks of GA, an initial FiO<sub>2</sub> of 0.3 hit the target defined by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) best. Newborn infants with GA <29 weeks in need of PPV and supplementary oxygen, we suggest starting with FiO<sub>2</sub> 0.3 and adjusting the FiO<sub>2</sub> to reach SpO<sub>2</sub> of 80% within 5 min of life for best outcomes. Prolonged bradycardia (heart rate <100 bpm for >2 min) is associated with increased risk of adverse outcomes, including death. The combination of strict control of development of SpO<sub>2</sub> in the first 10 min of life and a heart rate >100 bpm represents the best tool today to achieve the most optimal outcome in the delivery room of very preterm and immature newborn infants.

Due to rare earth doping, phosphates and vanadates are the leading materials for the synthesis of phosphors due to their thermal stability, low sintering temperature, and chemical stability. Phosphors in the nanoscale state are of particular interest. The simple, fast, and scalable synthesis of nanophosphors with high chemical homogeneity is a priority task. The purpose of this work was to synthesize powders of mixed yttrium vanadate-phosphate crystals of various compositions by coprecipitation under the action of microwave radiation and spray pyrolysis, as well as to compare the characteristics ofthe obtained samples. Samples of YVхP1–хO4 of different compositions were synthesized by coprecipitation under the action of microwave radiation and spray pyrolysis in different modes. In the case of the synthesis of yttrium vanadate-phosphate YVхP1–хO4 by spray pyrolysis followed by annealing, according to the X-ray phase analysis data, single-phase nanopowders were formed. The morphological characteristics of the samples were revealed by the methods of transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Depending on the annealing conditions, the samples were either faceted or spherical particlesless than 100 nm in size. The composition of the YVхP1–хO4 , samples synthesized by the coprecipitation method under the action of microwave radiation strongly depended on the pH of the precursor solution. The minimum content of impurity phases was reached at pH 9.Spray pyrolysis allows the synthesis of yttrium vanadate phosphate YVхP1–хO4 nanopowders of high chemical homogeneity with a particle size of less than 100 nm. The maximum chemical homogeneity of yttrium vanadate-phosphate powders was achieved at pH = 9 during the synthesis of YVхP1–хO4 by coprecipitation under the action of microwave radiation. However, the particle size dispersion was large, within the range of 2–60 μm.

The increasing demand for Li-ion batteries (LIBs), pushed even more by the electrical vehicle industry, has highlighted the concern with the scarcity and uneven distribution of LIB raw materials. Electrochemical energy storage based on alternative chemistries, once properly developed, may provide sufficient energy density to partly supply that demand, reducing the dependence on Li natural reserves. Among the studied chemistries, Na-ion-based storage is currently attracting a lot of research attention. This is partly due to the similarities between Li and Na, which allow for the utilisation of analogous materials and methods already in place for LIBs. However, not every component of LIBs can be directly applied to Na-ion batteries (SIB).[1] This is the case for battery separators, the membranes used to avoid physical contact between the two battery electrodes to prevent short circuiting while conducting ions from one battery pole to the other. Porous polyolefin films, such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), have been successfully used in LIBs, but are not compatible with SIB electrolytes. In the latter case, issues arise from the poor wettability of the separator with the electrolyte, which leads to low ionic conductivity, and creates an uneven flux of ions that can cause cell failure. To address this issue, previous reports have shown that the presence of inorganic oxides such as ZrO2 [2] and SiO2 [3] on polyolefin films can increase the affinity of the separator with commonly used LIB and SIB electrolytes. Moreover, ceramic-modified films also show higher thermal stability and hindered thermal shrinkage, which improves battery safety. In this work, we investigated PE coated with spherical SiO2 particles (designed by Glantreo, Ireland) with different sizes of 85 and 200 nm. The coatings were made by tape casting both sides of a PE film with slurries containing SiO2 particles and a binder. Binder type, SiO2 concentration and SiO2/binder ratio were optimized for each particle size. The obtained films were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy, and were compared regarding their wettability, thermal stability, and ionic conductivity. The films were tested as separators in hard-carbon half-cells with 1 mol/L NaClO4 in either diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (DEGDME) or ethylene carbonate (EC)/ propylene carbonate (PC) electrolyte. With carbonate-based electrolyte, PE has very low wettability and cells short circuit within the first cycle. However, SiO2-PE samples showed higher wettability, which allowed for cycling at low current densities. In DEGDME-based electrolyte, cells with PE separator presented capacity fade, with 50% capacity loss after 250 cycles at 400 mA/g. On the other hand, cells with SiO2-PE separator had stable cycling for more than 300 cycles and no short-circuiting was observed, even when high active mass loading electrodes (8 mg/cm2) were used. <b><i>Introduction:</i></b> It is not clear whether serum uric acid (SUA) levels and their changes over time are associated with the risk of stroke. A 7-year prospective cohort study in northwest China was conducted to analyze effects of SUA and their changes on the risk of stroke. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> A total of 23,262 individuals without cardiovascular disease in the Jinchang cohort were followed up for an average of 5.26 years. The Cox proportional hazard model was used to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of stroke incidence to SUA and relative changes in SUA. Sensitivity analysis was performed after controlling the effect of renal insufficiency. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Baseline SUA and relative changes in SUA were positively correlated with the incidence of stroke in both males and females (<i>p</i> for overall association <0.0001). Stroke risk increased by 4.6% per 10% increase in the relative change of SUA (HR = 1.046, 95% CI, 1.007–1.086). The fully adjusted regression analysis demonstrated that only the large gain (>30%) in SUA was associated with an increased risk of stroke by 36.5% (95% CI, 1.8–83.0%), compared with the reference group (participants within ±10% changes in SUA). The same trend was observed in people with normal baseline SUA. In the unadjusted model, the risk of stroke associated with elevated SUA was significantly higher in the hyperuricemia group than in the normal SUA group. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> High initial SUA concentration and an increase in SUA concentration over time would increase the risk of stroke, and this means that there is no safe increase in SUA.

To address the aforementioned gap, we aimed to explore the nonlinear relationship between SUA levels and all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality risk, and to examine any possible effect modifiers in MHD patients. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> We conducted a multicenter, prospective cohort study among 1,018 MHD patients from 8 hemodialysis centers. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality, and the secondary outcomes were CVD mortality and non-CVD mortality. <b><i>Results:</i></b> The mean value for SUA in the total population was 8.5 ± 1.9 mg/dL. The lowest and highest quintiles of SUA were <7.0 and >10.1 mg/dL, respectively. Over a median follow-up of 45.6 months, 343 deaths were recorded, of which 202 (58.9%) were due to CVD. When SUA was assessed as quintiles, a significantly higher risk of all-cause mortality was found in patients in quintile 1 (<7.0 mg/dL; hazard ratio [HR], 1.33; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.02–1.73) or quintile 5 (≥10.1 mg/dL; HR, 1.47; 95% CI: 1.09–2.00), compared to those in quintiles 2–4 (7–10.1 mg/dL). Moreover, the U-shaped SUA-mortality association was mainly found in those with lower C-reactive protein levels (<3 compared with ≥3 mg/L; <i>p</i> for interaction = 0.018). Similar trends were found for CVD mortality and non-CVD mortality. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> There was a U-shaped relationship between SUA levels and the risk of all-cause mortality, CVD mortality, and non-CVD mortality in MHD patients.

O escrutínio desenvolve-se através de três questões que são decisivas para captar as formas pelas quais o conhecimento é instituído e regulado na experiência universitária, chamando a atenção para os conflitos e disputas que marcaram suas conquistas tanto quanto seus fracassos: o renascimento do aristotelismo, o sucesso da prática da quaestio disputata e a redescoberta do direito romano. Enfocando as afinidades e as alianças entre essas três dimensões, o principal argumento do ensaio repousa, em particular, no terceiro, tentando mostrar como a experiência da universidade deve ser entendida como um processo propriamente institucional em virtude do poder linguístico da lei e sua capacidade de criar formas de vida em comum.

<b><i>Objective:</i></b> Serum uric acid (SUA) has been linked with development and progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). In this study, we intend to compare the effects of hyperuricemia (HUA) on beta-cell function, renal function, and lipid panels of patients with DKD. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> A total of 492 patients with DKD were included for data collection and analysis. Males and females have different standard SUA levels; thus, we analyzed these 2 groups separately. Normouricemia (NUA) for men (<i>n</i> = 253) was ≤428 μmol/L and for women (<i>n</i> = 83) was ≤357 μmol/L, whereas HUA for men (<i>n</i> = 94) was >428 μmol/L and for women (<i>n</i> = 62) was >357 μmol/L. Clinical characteristics of patients were analyzed based on gender-specific NUA and HUA. The Spearman rank correlation test was used to evaluate the correlation between SUA and other clinical variables. Finally, stepwise multinomial logistic regression test was performed to identify the factors that are independently associated with HUA. <b><i>Results:</i></b> A total of 492 patients were included in this study. The regression analysis showed that there was a significant association between HUA and decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in both male and female patients (odds ratio (OR) [95% confidence interval (CI)] = 4.73 [2.19–10.24], <i>p</i> value ≤0.01 in male patients and OR [95% CI] = 3.07 [], <i>p</i> value = 0.04 in female patients). FBG, 2hPBG, and HbA1c were negatively correlated with SUA in male patients (<i>r =</i> −0.182, <i>p</i> value ≤0.01; <i>r =</i> −0.168, <i>p</i> value ≤0.01; and <i>r</i> = −0.187, <i>p</i> value ≤0.01, respectively), whereas fasting insulin was positively correlated in male patients (<i>r =</i> 0.131, <i>p</i> value = 0.023) and female patients (<i>r =</i> 0.192, <i>p</i> value = 0.041). The atherogenic index of plasma was significantly high in patients with HUA (OR [95% CI] = 5.75 [2.32–14.23], <i>p</i> value ≤0.01 in male patients and OR [95% CI] = 8.37 [1.96–35.78], <i>p</i> value ≤0.01 in female patients). Other indices of lipid profile such as lipoprotein combine index, atherosclerosis index, and triglyceride/high-density lipoprotein ratio were also independently associated with HUA in both male and female patients. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> SUA can affect various clinical parameters in patients with DKD. There is a significant association between HUA and decline in eGFR in both male and female patients. HUA is also associated with dyslipidemia in DKD, increasing the risk of cardiac complications and mortality.

Abstract 4-1BB (CD137) is a key costimulatory immunoreceptor and a promising therapeutic target in cancer. CEACAM5 (CEA) is a well-established tumor associated antigen overexpressed in many cancers, including colorectal, gastric, lung, pancreatic cancer, liver, breast and thyroid cancers. BGB-B167 is a novel immunoglobulin G (IgG)-based bispecific antibody targeting 4-1BB and CEA and is under clinical development for the treatment of advanced or metastatic solid tumors in humans. BGB-B167 binds to its target proteins with high specificity and affinity. Potent and CEA-dependent functional activities were demonstrated using peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC)-based immune cell activation and cytotoxicity assays. In humanized 4-1BB knock-in mice bearing human CEA-expressing tumors, BGB-B167 exhibited potent, dose-associated single-agent efficacy as well as synergistic antitumor activity in combination with anti-PD-1 antibody. BGB-B167 was well tolerated in 1-month repeat-dose toxicology study in cynomolgus monkeys. Here, we describe the characterization of BGB-B167 with regard to preclinical proof-of-concept and basic drug-like properties. Il peso di questo gruppo varia localmente in base a diversi fattori, il più rilevante dei quali è l’incidenza della signoria territoriale : dove essa fu più debole il servaggio fu minoritario se non assente, come anche dove essa inquadrò tutti gli uomini. Il suo ruolo fu invece importante là dove forme di signoria forte si univano alla concorrenza tra signori diversi o dove l’accesso ai mercati urbani e l’emigrazione mettevano in discussione i tradizionali assetti di potere locale. Il servaggio non fu dunque che una delle forme assunte dai poteri signorili nel loro processo di adattamento e trasformazione in base ai diversi contesti politici, sociali ed economici.

Este artigo investiga a difícil trajetória que as comunas italianas (séculos XII-XIV) percorreram a fim de consolidar uma necessária política diplomática que fizesse jus à sua organização governamental policêntrica e mal hierarquizada. Pelo estudo dos estatutos municipais, mostraremos que emprego de embaixadores e a formação de uma diplomacia comunal trouxeram problemas para o funcionamento administrativo das cidades que logo notaram que as embaixadas, dispendiosas e arriscadas, eram, no entanto, um mal necessário, já que as comunas precisaram fazer-se representar nos espaços políticos exteriores às próprias cidades. Os problemas diziam respeito à natureza da potestas publica das comunas, ao alcance das missões diplomáticas (assuntos políticos ou comerciais?), ao estatuto político do embaixador (pessoa pública ou privada?), à representatividade da função (a quem representa o embaixador?), aos mecanismos de sua escolha, às prerrogativas desta escolha, aos custos de pagamento pelos serviços, aos limites de sua jurisdição, etc. A diplomacia comunal aparece sob estrito controle dos órgãos públicos uma vez que os núcleos dirigentes da comuna, disputando entre si zonas de influência, pretendiam impedir que os profissionais diplomáticos ascendessem no espaço urbano, eclipsando a sua própria autoridade.

A family of auxiliary β subunits coassemble with Slo α subunit to form Ca2+-regulated, voltage-activated BK-type K+ channels. The β subunits play an important role in regulating the functional properties of the resulting channel protein, including apparent Ca2+ dependence and inactivation. The β3b auxiliary subunit, when coexpressed with the Slo α subunit, results in a particularly rapid (∼1 ms), but incomplete inactivation, mediated by the cytosolic NH2 terminus of the β3b subunit (Xia et al. 2000). Here, we evaluate whether a simple block of the open channel by the NH2-terminal domain accounts for the inactivation mechanism. Analysis of the onset of block, recovery from block, time-dependent changes in the shape of instantaneous current-voltage curves, and properties of deactivation tails suggest that a simple, one step blocking reaction is insufficient to explain the observed currents. Rather, blockade can be largely accounted for by a two-step blocking mechanism () in which preblocked open states (O*n) precede blocked states (In). The transitions between O* and I are exceedingly rapid accounting for an almost instantaneous block or unblock of open channels observed with changes in potential. However, the macroscopic current relaxations are determined primarily by slower transitions between O and O*. We propose that the O to O* transition corresponds to binding of the NH2-terminal inactivation domain to a receptor site. Blockade of current subsequently reflects either additional movement of the NH2-terminal domain into a position that hinders ion permeation or a gating transition to a closed state induced by binding of the NH2 terminus.

In tredici volumi, pubblicati tra il 1977 e il 2000, contiene l’edizione di mille e trecento documenti pergamenacei, redatti tra il 947 e il 1210, conservati nell’archivio del celebre monastero campano di Montevergine (AV). Nonostante il suo alto potenziale lessicografico, il Codice diplomatico verginiano non è stato ancora oggetto di uno spoglio lessicale completo e accurato, che consentirebbe non solo di arricchire di varianti grafiche e morfosintattiche lemmi già registrati nei lessici mediolatini, ma anche di segnalare nuovi vocaboli. Objectives. To apply modern text-mining methods to identify candidate herbs and formulae for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.Methods. The method we developed includes three steps: (1) identification of candidate ancient terms; (2) systemic search and assessment of medical records written in classical Chinese; (3) preliminary evaluation of the effect and safety of candidates.Results. Ancient terms Xia Xiao, Shen Xiao, and Xiao Shen were determined as the most likely to correspond with diabetic nephropathy and used in text mining. A total of 80 Chinese formulae for treating conditions congruent with diabetic nephropathy recorded in medical books from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty were collected. Sao si tang (also called Reeling Silk Decoction) was chosen to show the process of preliminary evaluation of the candidates. It had promising potential for development as new agent for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy. However, further investigations about the safety to patients with renal insufficiency are still needed.Conclusions. The methods developed in this study offer a targeted approach to identifying traditional herbs and/or formulae as candidates for further investigation in the search for new drugs for modern disease. However, more effort is still required to improve our techniques, especially with regard to compound formulae.

<b>Background:</b> Hypoxemia frequently occurs during bronchoscopy. High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy may be a feasible alternative to prevent the deterioration of gas exchange during bronchoscopy. With the convenience of clinical use in mind, we modified an HFNC using a single cannula. This clinical trial was designed to test the hypothesis that a modified HFNC would decrease the proportion of patients with a single moment of peripheral arterial oxygen saturation (SpO<sub>2</sub>) <90% during bronchoscopy. <b>Methods:</b> In this single-center, prospective randomized controlled trial, hospitalized patients in the respiratory department in need of diagnostic bronchoscopy were randomly assigned to a modified HFNC oxygen therapy group or a conventional oxygen therapy (COT) group. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients with a single moment of SpO<sub>2</sub><90% during bronchoscopy. <b>Results:</b> Eight hundred and twelve patients were randomized to the modified HFNC (n = 406) or COT (n = 406) group. Twenty-four patients were unable to cooperate or comply with bronchoscopy. Thus, 788 patients were included in the analysis. The proportion of patients with a single moment of SpO<sub>2</sub> <90% during bronchoscopy in the modified HFNC group was significantly lower than that in the COT group (12.5% vs. 28.8%, <i>p</i> < 0.001). There were no significant differences in the fraction of inspired oxygen between the two groups. The lowest SpO<sub>2</sub> during bronchoscopy and 5 min after bronchoscopy in the modified HFNC group was significantly higher than that in the COT group. Multivariate analysis showed that a baseline forced vital capacity (FVC) < 2.7 L (OR, 0.276; 95% CI, 0.083–0.919, <i>p</i> = 0.036) and a volume of fluid instilled > 60 ml (OR, 1.034; 95% CI, 1.002–1.067, <i>p</i> = 0.036) were independent risk factors for hypoxemia during bronchoscopy in the modified HFNC group. <b>Conclusion:</b> A modified HFNC could decrease the proportion of patients with a single moment of SpO<sub>2</sub> <90% during bronchoscopy. A lower baseline FVC and large-volume bronchoalveolar lavage may predict desaturation during bronchoscopy when using a modified HFNC. <i>Trial registration</i> ClinicalTrials. Gov: NCT02606188. <b><i>Background and objective:</i></b> The clinical relevance and interrelation of sleep-disordered breathing and nocturnal hypoxemia in patients with precapillary pulmonary hypertension (PH) is not fully understood. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> Seventy-one patients with PH (age 63 ± 15 years, 41% male) and 35 matched controls were enrolled. Patients with PH underwent clinical examination with assessment of sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, 6-minute walk distance (6MWD), overnight cardiorespiratory polygraphy, lung function, hypercapnic ventilatory response (HCVR; by rebreathing technique), amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels, and cardiac MRI (<i>n</i> = 34). <b><i>Results:</i></b> Prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) was 68% in patients with PH (34% mild, apnea-hypopnea index [AHI] ≥5 to <15/h; 34% moderate to severe, AHI ≥15/h) versus 5% in controls (<i>p</i> < 0.01). Only 1 patient with PH showed predominant central sleep apnea (CSA). Nocturnal hypoxemia (mean oxygen saturation [SpO<sub>2</sub>] <90%) was present in 48% of patients with PH, independent of the presence of OSA. There were no significant differences in mean nocturnal SpO<sub>2</sub>, self-reported sleep quality, 6MWD, HCVR, and lung and cardiac function between patients with moderate to severe OSA and those with mild or no OSA (all <i>p</i> > 0.05). Right ventricular (RV) end-diastolic (<i>r</i> = −0.39; <i>p</i> = 0.03) and end-systolic (<i>r</i> = −0.36; <i>p</i> = 0.04) volumes were inversely correlated with mean nocturnal SpO<sub>2</sub> but not with measures of OSA severity or daytime clinical variables. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> OSA, but not CSA, is highly prevalent in patients with PH, and OSA severity is not associated with nighttime SpO<sub>2</sub>, clinical and functional status.
