Full textThis study was evaluated the influence of processing conditions (temperatures of casting conditions and thermal insulation of ceramic shells) in crack formation of equiaxed B1914 turbine blades produced by investment casting. Due to lack of information about B1914 alloy was performed microstructural and mechanical characterization of this alloy material in the raw state and treated. In shells uninsulated and partly insulated, after pouring was observed casting solidification defects. However the shells in a fully insulated were not observed casting crack formation. However were identified clusters of micropores in the root of all blades. The results of simulation phase fraction showed that the balance of phases in B1914 alloy is made mostly by γ and γ\' phases and the minority phases: MB2, M3B2 and sigma. The microstructural characterization of B1914 alloy confirmed the results of simulation and were identified: gamma (γ) - dendrites and gamma prime (γ\') - inside the dendrites and interdendritic regions. The M3B2 was found in eutectic. The results of DTA and Scheil showed that the process of solidification occurred in non-equilibrium. The results obtained from the thermal treatments showed difficulties to solubilize γ\' phase. The structural integrity of samples was compromised by the presence of solidification defects (pores). Both values of LR and εr obtained in the tests are much below the values found in literature.

Full textThe needing for high temperature work claim for new materials capable of maintain high strength and good corrosion resistance at temperatures that could reach values near their melting point. Such materials must be creep resistant to withstand high levels of tension and temperature. The aim of this work is the characterization of MAR-M247 under creep conditions for the production of automotive turbocharger rotors made by Açotécnica. The work is split in two steps. In the first one, the material is studied to find the best conditions for solution and ageing heat treatments. The result is a solution treatment at 1250?C for 5 h followed by aging at 980?C for 20 h. A work made by another student (SILVA, 2011) makes the same with a modification of MAR-M247 in which tantalum is completely substituted for niobium. The best condition for this case is a solution treatment at 1260?C for 8 h and a double aging treatment at 880?C for 5 h and 780?C for 20 h. At the second part of the work, both the materials are tested under creep conditions at 850?C with 370, 390, 410 and 430 MPa. The conventional superalloy shows the highest values for creep strength and the modified superalloy shows the highest ductility. Fracture surfaces for 390 and 430 MPa showed brittle carbides with \"chinese script\" morphology. Conversely, holes are present on all four materials what shall mean that its nucleation and growth was the most probably fracture path.

Underlaget för resultatet grundas på delvis strukturerade intervjuer och detta resultat visar att mellancheferna i den studerade organisationen i hög grad uppvisar tillfredsställelse i sin position. Undersökningen pekar på att mellancheferna har de resurser som krävs för att de ska kunna utföra sitt arbete på ett tillfredsställande sätt. Upplevd kontroll över arbetssituationen, socialt stöd, delaktighet samt stolthet i sin yrkesroll generar ett tillstånd av välbefinnande för mellancheferna i undersökningen.

Full textThe polycrystalline nickel-based superalloy MAR-M247 was developed in the 1970s. Its optimal alloy composition, microstructural stability, excellent resistance to creep and oxidation and good resistance to hot corrosion make the MAR-M247 superalloy one of the alloys widely used in turbine rotors during the last 20 years. The aims of the present work are the production and the microstructural and mechanical characterization of rotors made of MAR-M247 superalloy (10 wt. % Co, 10W, 8.25Cr, 5.5Al, 3Ta, 1.5Hf, 1Ti, 0.7Mo, 0.15C, 0.05Zr, 0.015B, Ni balance). The rotors were produced by using the lost-wax technique at different pouring temperatures and isolation of the shell mold at the Açotécnica S.A. company (Jandira/SP). The materials were analyzed by optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS), differential thermal analysis (DTA), macro/microhardness and tensile tests at 25oC and 760oC. Besides, the materials were submitted to solution and ageing treatments at different temperatures and times in order to evaluate de microstructural changes. With the aid of the thermodynamic calculation software Thermocalc, simulations of phase relations were made using the average composition of the MAR-M247 superalloy. The results allowed to obtain a processing condition (pouring temperature and isolation condition) with larger amount of rotors without defects. Moreover, the experiments allowed to define an ideal solution heat treatment condition of MAR-M247 superalloy.

Full textA aplicação de ligas de cobalto, como a Co-30Cr-19Fe, em componentes usados na produção de etanol de 2ª geração vem sendo estudada. Neste processo, cerca de 8% da carga trabalhada no reator é composta por partículas duras, principalmente sílica. Dessa forma, existe a necessidade de promover o aumento da resistência ao desgaste abrasivo dos componentes do reator. Em meio a este contexto, amostras da superliga de cobalto fundida Co-30Cr19Fe foram submetidas a um tratamento de solubilização e na sequência nitretadas a plasma em baixas temperaturas, objetivando a formação de uma camada dura, resistente ao desgaste e livre de precipitados, conhecida na literatura como fase-S ou austenita expandida. A liga apresentou microestrutura predominantemente homogênea e estrutura cristalina mista, com fases de cobalto α (CFC) e ε (HC). A solubilização foi feita à temperatura de 1200 °C e tempo de tratamento de 8 horas. Três condições de nitretação a plasma foram escolhidas, as temperaturas utilizadas foram de 325, 350 e 400 °C, em todos os casos a mistura gasosa foi de 75% de H2 e 25% de N2, tempo de tratamento de 20 horas e pressão de trabalho de 2,5 Torr. As amostras foram caracterizadas antes e após cada tratamento, utilizando microscopia ótica, medidas de microdureza e difração de raios X. Os ensaios de microabrasão foram realizados no microabrasômetro da marca PLINT modelo TE66, os abrasivos SiO2, Al2O3 e SiC, em suspensão em água destilada e com concentração de 0,1 g/cm3, foram utilizados. O Universal Micro Tester modelo APEX da CETR/Bruker foi empregado nos ensaios de esclerometria retilínea uniforme. O tratamento de solubilização resultou em uma microestrutura mais homogênea, com redução do tamanho médio dos precipitados e dissolução apenas parcial destes, a estrutura do material permaneceu mista. A solubilização não promoveu mudanças importantes na dureza e na resistência ao desgaste do material. A fase-S foi obtida em todas as condições, porém, à temperatura de 400 °C, houve precipitação de nitretos de cromo. A espessura e a dureza das camadas aumentaram de acordo com o acréscimo da temperatura de nitretação. De forma geral, a resistência ao desgaste aumentou após a formação das camadas. As amostras solubilizadas e nitretadas a 350 °C apresentaram, mesmo que ligeiramente, menores coeficientes de desgaste. O abrasivo que proporcionou maior coeficiente de desgaste foi a Al2O3, seguido por SiC e SiO2. O micromecanismo de desgaste dominante em todos os ensaios foi o de abrasão a dois corpos, riscamento. Quando aplicadas pequenas cargas, a fase-S promoveu aumento da dureza ao risco da superliga Co-30Cr-19Fe.

Full textThe computational thermodynamic simulation and the databases designed for this purpose are today one the most important tools to develop new nickel based superalloys. The aim of this work was to check the reliability of a commercial database, designed specifically for Ni-based superalloys. The experimental phase diagram data of Inconel 713LC, such as, liquidus and solidus temperatures as well as chemical phase compositions were compared with thermodynamic information extracted from computational simulations. Samples of a commercial superalloy Inconel 713LC were extracted from an ingot produced by Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) and heat treated under argon in quartz capsules at 600?C, 900 ?C and 1250?C for 10h, 24h, 50h, 100h, 250h, 500h, 1000h and 2000h, according to the treatment temperature used, aiming at reaching the thermodynamic equilibrium conditions. The as-cast and all heat-treated samples were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and the chemical compositions of the phases were measured via Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). Temperatures of phase transformations were determined by Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA). Microhardness measurements were performed to indirectly follow the microstructural evolution of gamma prime. The Thermo-Calc® software and the TTNi8 database from Thermotech Ltd® were used for thermodynamic calculations.
