Full textThis thesis proposes the optimum sizing methodology to optimize the configuration of hybrid energy system. For this, we use an approach for automatic fuzzy rule base generation and optimization by means of Fuzzy-Adaptive Genetic Algorithm and fuzzy adaptive PSO. This Algorithms allows us to obtain the optimal number of photovoltaic panels, wind turbines and storages units, ensuring the minimal global high efficiency system total cost and guaranteeing the permanent availability of energy to cover the load energy requirements. Historical hourly wind speed, solar irradiance and load data are used to stochastically model the wind turbines, photovoltaic generation and load. The total cost is the objective function and the technical size is a constraint

Full textThis work is in the field of the process diagnosis defined as the identification of process functional states. If obtaining a precise model of the process is delicate or impossible, the system knowledge can be extracted from the signals obtained during a normal or abnormal operation by including mechanisms of training. This knowledge is organized through a data space partition into clusters (representing the states of the system). Among the training techniques, those including fuzzy logic have the advantage of expressing the memberships of an individual to several classes, this makes possible to better know the real situation of the system and to envisage changes to failure states. Notwithstanding their adequate performances, their strong dependence on the initialization parameters is a difficulty for the training. This thesis proposes the improvement of these techniques, specifically our objective is the development of a method to validate and adapt automatically the partition of data space obtained by a fuzzy classification technique. This makes possible to find automatically an optimal partition in terms of clusters compactness and separation from only the membership matrix obtained by an initial classification. This method is thus an important help given to the process expert to establish the functional states in the implementation of a monitoring technique of a complex process. Its application is illustrated on academic examples and on the diagnosis of 3 chemical processes

Full textThis thesis deals with development of an intelligent flow control approach applied to the field of high-volume production systems. In this context, the flow of parts is approximated by a continuous-flow (fluid) model. Thus, based on the obtained model, the proposed methodology aims at improving the performance of the overall system in presence of disturbances. In this context, based on the decomposition of a production system into basic modules, a two-level control architecture is proposed : a local control level for regulating the material flows at each basic production module on the basis of local information (surplus and buffer levels). A supervisory control level for coordinating the lower level distributed controllers and tracking the global objectives. Firstly, at the local control level, the surplus-based approach is adopted to regulate the flow into each production module. The control policy allocates the needed capacity by adjusting the processing rates in order to satisfy the demand and eliminate machine starvation or blocking. In this case, the local control structure is distributed. Due to the limitation of the existing analytical surplus-based approaches and the presence of uncertainties, the local controller is designed on the basis of expert knowledge according to the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy formalisms. Next, the supervision level is introduced in order to enhance the reactivity of the local control and improve the overall production-system performances by integrating the global objectives through a decisional mechanism able to deal with conflicting situations. The supervisory control action is deployed as an additive component when a degraded operating mode is detected. In this context, the function of the supervisor is formalized by using aggregation mechanisms based on the fuzzy rules and the aggregation operators. The developed supervisors differ by : the interval representation of the objectives (conventional and fuzzy), the aggregation mechanisms and the aggregated information. Lastly, simulation results through a continuous-flow simulator on some complex production systems of high-volume are presented to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed methodology

Full textThe main objective of this thesis is to size and optimise the production of a small renewable energy installation in a remote isolated area. In order to determine the size of the installation a study of the site capacities and the type of energy to be used must be carried out. A program is set in order to minimize the cost of a hybrid wind and solar energy installation in different sites. The next step is the optimisation of the energy production of each of these systems individually using a fuzzy logic controller to track the maximum power point. This technique is based on the direct approach, mimicking the Perturb & Observe algorithm and overcoming its limitations, such as oscillation around the MPP.The FLC requires fine tuning to maximise its efficiency, therefore it is combined with different optimisation algorithms to set the membership function and modify the rules. Five approaches were tested: type one fuzzy logic was combined first with genetic algorithm, second with particle swarm optimisation, the third approach applied type two fuzzy logic and then combined it with the same optimisation algorithms as previously used, for the final two approaches. The last part of this work introduces a fuzzy logic based supervisor that is adapted for an isolated remote hybrid PV Wind installation, to obtain an optimal functioning of the system according to the changes in atmospheric conditions and energy demand, taking into account the state of charge of the batteries and energy overflow dissipation. Simulations are run for all of the systems to show their efficiency and effectiveness

Full textThe limited reserves of fossil fuel and the pollution gases produced pave the way to promising alternativeRenewable Energy Sources (RESs) such as Solar Energy Sources (SESs) and Wind Energy Sources (WESs).SESs and WESs are freely available and environmentally friendly. However, RESs are intermittent in nature. Therefore, the smoothing of power fluctuations by storing the energy during periods of oversupply and restore it tothe grid when demand becomes necessary. Accordingly, Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) can be appropriatelyused for this purpose.Using several energy sources for constructing HPSs alongside with ESS will require an energy managementstrategy to achieve minimum HPS cost and optimal balance between energy generation and energy consumption. This energy management method is a mechanism to achieve an ideal energy production and to conveniently satisfythe load demand at relatively high efficiency. In this thesis, a Hybrid Power System (HPS) including Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) such as main sourcescombined with Gas Micro-Turbine (GMT) and hydrogen storage system such as Back-up Sources (BKUSs) hasbeen presented. The aim of this hybridization is to build a reliable system, which is able to supply the load andhaving the ability to store the excess energy in hydrogen form and reuse it later when demanded. Consequently, thestored energy at the end of each cycle will be zero and a minimum generated power cost is achieved. In addition, partial shading problem of Photovoltaic (PV) panels is comprehensively studied and a new solution based on simpleswitches and Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) integrated into dSPACE electronic card is created. Consequently, a realtime PV panels reconfiguration and disconnecting shaded ones is performed and minimum power losses isachieved. Then, the PV panels are connected to a Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolyser (PEM ELS). Theemitted temperature by the PV panels is transferred to the endothermic element PEM ELS. Consequently, anefficiency enhancement of the hybrid system PVPEM ELS is realized

Full textIn the design of control systems for complex industrial processes there are needs that cannot be successfully addressed by the existing conventional control laws. In certain situations, the control system must exhibit a degree of autonomy in order to ensure continuity in the task for which it has been designed. In this work, a new approach for the functional architecture of a control system is proposed. The goal of this architecture is to increase the industrial processes autonomy by integrating in the control system the four following functional modules : control functions, knowledge base, inference mechanisms and man-machine interface and communications. Chapter 2 is dedicates to the study of the centrifugation process. The global behaviour is described by an oriented-signed graph taking into account the influence of the different phenomena. Chapter 3 deals with the problem of data-based learning systems. Different learning approaches, such as classification, pattern recognition and regression are presented and applied to the system. The last part of the chapter is devoted to the Takagi-Sugeno type fuzzy models. In chapter 4, the problems of monitoring, fault diagnosis and accomodation are treated. The dualty between parity space approach and principal component analysis (PCA) for fault detection and isolation is shown. In the last part of the chapter, the principles of fault accomodation are exposed and a specific method based on the computation of the faulty system parameters is applied. Finally, the procedure which leads to the integration of the functions to the control system is presented

Full textAs a rapidly industrializing country, the economy of Vietnam's has become very energy intensive. Thought, 66.9% of Vietnam's population lives in rural area in 2014. Many people still live in remote farming areas that are stricken with poverty. The Vietnam Master Power Plan VII (2011) indicates that still 818,947 households are not connected to the national grid, and 759,986 households do not have any access to electricity.Vietnam has high potential on renewable energy resources (Wind, Solar, Hydro, Biomass, and Geothermal). Using hybrid renewable energy system is considered to be one of the most feasible options to bring electricity to local people to improve life quality. The off-grid communities in Vietnam are located mainly in the north-west of Vietnam, near the border with Laos and China, where exist a great potential on Hydro power and/or solar power. A micro hydro power plant cannot satisfy the load demand, especially in dry season. Therefore, additional energy sources such as PV arrays have been suggested to complement power efficiency. Thus, this working discusses the pre-feasibility for small hybrid power generation system consisting of a PV generating unit with storage and a micro hydro generation unit for off-grid areas in Vietnam. The objective of this thesis is to optimize the production of renewable electricity for this type of small hybrid power generation system. For the photovoltaic conversion system, a one input fuzzy logic controller for maximum power point tracking is designed. For the Micro-hydro power plants (MHPP), a Pelton turbine is coupled to a would rotor synchronous generator to supply electricity for a three phase load. To keep the MHPP frequency and voltage outputs constant (50 Hz, 230 V) in spite of changing user loads, the controller is necessary. The experimental results of MHPP frequency and voltages control show the ability of our controller. For the realization of small hybrid power generation, a fuzzy supervisor is adapted to obtain an optimal behavior of the system. Finally, a study on the advantages of this type of hybrid system is carried out (improvement of adult training, increased night working hours, and reduction fuel costs). This thesis contributes to the knowledge of Renewable Energy (RE) by revealing the suitable usability and prospects of RE resources to the government and other local or international investors in Vietnam
