A sense amplifier applied for low voltage embedded flash memories is presented. The sense amplifier uses an enhanced current sensing method allowing power supplies lower than 1.5 V to be used. The sense amplifier was implemented in a FLASH realized with a 0.13 um FLASH technology. The deformation of the surface of epoxy resin plates with an embedded linear shape-memory alloy (SMA) wire as an actuator in smart structure members is measured as a function of the duration of the supply of electric current to the SMA wire, using a digital image correlation technique.
