Full textPurpose – The purpose of this study is to investigate what kind of problems a public organization has with their information flow and suggest a solution to the identified problems. To achieve the purpose, will the report answer the following questions: What problems do a public organization have with the information flow? How can a specification contribute to efficiency the flow of information within a public organization? Method – In order to achieve the objectives of the study and answer the research questions, a qualitative study is conducted in a public organization. First, semi-structured interviews have been conducted, and then a literature search is performed to provide a knowledge base in this field. From this emerges a specification that forms the basis for a more efficient flow of information within a public organization. The empirical data, which is collected in the manner described, is then analysed and compared with the collected theory. This is to compare the real working life with the theory. Even literature studies have been carried out because it is important to have a stable background current methods, theories and tools. With its basis in the specification, the proposed solutions was developed after an election has made the kind of solution that is fit for purpose. This was done in consultation with the organization concerned. The requirement specification has been analysed by the empirical data and theories, and occurred in consulting with the organization concerned. A demonstration of the final solution and follow-up interviews were also conducted, to get feedback about the solution improvement of the information flow within the public organization. Findings – The study results are based on the collected empirical data and the conducted literature review. The result shows that development of an artefact in the form of guidelines for a set of requirements that form the basis, for further development solution improvement of the information flow has resulted in an improvement of the information flow within a public organization. The requirements that have been identified; with semi-structured interview have been used to create the specification demands. This is done to get a good result that solves the organizations requirements and needs, in terms of information flow in a public organization. Implications – Blomkvist and Hallin (2015) argues that some thesis provides a methodological contribution to research this, a new way to solve an organization's practical problems. This is this study knowledge contribution. Knowledge contribution in terms of research in informatics, it contributes to an improvement in the distribution of information. This is through the development and use guidelines for a set of requirements that underpin it. The study provides support by producing a guidance on a specification in the form of an artefact that is the basis for development. Further studies may be seen as desirable as this study has only focused on the organization and for research to be optimal and needs further studies in the field carried out. Limitations – The study was conducted in a public organization and therefore the results of the study are specifically relevant for this kind of organizations.

According to the increasing challenge of economic environment worldwide, supply chain management becomes more and more important for business corporations. In contrast to traditional management only focusing on improving the internal performance of corporation, supply chain management tends to integrate the related core business processes within and across different corporations. By adopting supply chain management into logistics system, the integration is concentrated on collaborating from original suppliers, distributors, retailers through end customers. To meet the future competition demand under multiple pressures such as insufficient budget and manpower reduction, the most important issues for logistics at present are to precisely deal with component needs and to control stock as well as to reduce the cost of investment, and to avoid from the accumulation of fund and avoid from the waste of storage space. Therefore, the revolution work for logistics should focus on the planning, reformation, and transformation of the operation procedure and on the set-up of the information system framework. There will be problems if every member of every level in the push mode of the current supply chain system only cares about one’s own stock satisfaction. Given that, the number of stock will be growing in order to meet various demands. As a result, too much stock will lessen the competition advantage as consequences. Excepting the concern of the stock problem, the lack of communication among all the members can also be harmful to both the whole system and the members. In the real network of the supply chain, it is not only one hero to take all the credit. In other words, push mode may be sufficient under some circumstances while pull mode can perform a better job under other circumstances. This research adopts the ideas of risk pooling, process modelling to build up a set of conceptual module of supply chain in order to prove the fact that under different circumstances, by changing the portion of the use of push and pull modes, the result can be surprising. In conclusion, we are able to better facilitate the supply chain system by combining or adjusting various modes and we are able to make the system more practical.

A supply chain includes the transition and transportation of material from raw form through several stages of manufacturing, assembly and distribution to a finished product delivered to the end customer. In numerous publications on manufacturing and logistics the widespread terms "Push" and "Pull" are commonly used to characterize particular concepts of system configuration and coordination. However, the mechanics of material and information flow as commend by named Push- or Pull-mode, and the way of handling of the future through demand described as anticipating or reacting should be distinguished as proposed by Klaas. The approach system dynamics is employed to model and analyze the pull, push as well as their combinational mode in anticipating and reacting demand environment separately. The result shows that more detailed modeling of this research is beneficial to support the shaping of adequate supply chains to improve the efficiency in supply chain management.

To the industry of TFT-LCD, the main factors of the cost include the transportation of raw materials and products, and manufacturing. On these stages, time plays a crucial role; therefore, the main object of this research debates on supply chain of TFT-LCD industry and focuses on the time aspect. This research tried to construct a push/pull boundary and push/pull model by calculating the time of push model by push tactics including lead time, manufacture time, set up time, and transportation time; as well as calculating the time of pull model by pull tactics including lead time, assemble and manufacture time, order tardiness time, order work in process time, transportation time, and finally find out the shortest total time. The result of this study shows that the shortest time of push model is when the raw materials were transported from Taipei and finally assembled and manufactured in the Southeast Asian factory. The shortest time of pull model is when the products were assembled and manufactured in Southeast Asia and finally transported to European agent. In those situations, both push and pull time are the shortest.

ABSTRACT With the liberalization of world trade, globalization, and emergence of new markets, many organizations have customers and competitors throughout the world, either directly or indirectly. Business communities are aware that international competitiveness is the key to the success of a business. Competitiveness is the ability to produce, distribute and provide products and services for the open market in competition with others. Effective procurement can reduce costs and add value to an organization by enhancing overall competitiveness. Procurement activities can be leveraged into a holistic approach to the supply chain management. More and more organizations must increasingly depend on effective supply chains, or networks, to successfully compete in the global markets and networked economy. By including the environmental factor surrounding the organization and the increase of the divers and uncertain demand on the wide market, a strategic fit of the supply chain should be designed and selected to apply in the real practice of the organization. As for push-pull integrated strategy which is one of the supply chain strategies, it is also selected by some firms to practice in their businesses in order to achieve the best results instead of choosing other strategies. In this research, as well as the push-pull integrated supply chain strategy is picked out to do research but in the terms of information system perspective with high customer satisfaction while information flow is the lifeblood of the company (Bill, 2001). Information flow can make the company to obtain the most out of its people and to learn from its customers. For example, information flow about what the customers think about the products of the company, what the problems the customers want the company to fix, what new features the customers want the company to add, what problems the partners have in coordinating with the company, where and why the competitors are winning business from the company, and what new markets are appearing that the company should enter. Therefore, all of those information flows above will be gained by the company along through the information extent and intensity in the supply chain of the company. In addition, this research, based on the information flow, has the objectives to identify the impact of the push-pull integrated strategy, to determine the structure of information flow of the company, and to find out whether only push-pull integrated strategy in the supply chain is enough or not in the real business practice of a company. The method of doing this research borrowed the method of “degree of supply chain coupling” of previous researchers by adding one more factor which is the competitor in the previous formulas. The study used 2 companies, Intel and Shawl and Local Handicraft which implement the push-pull integrated strategy. Firstly, the research found that the main impact of push-pull integrated strategy in the information flow from customers to suppliers, which is the vertical dimension, is the demand information flow. The second finding of the research is that a company does not use only one strategy in the competitive environmental business. There is more than one strategy in a company. The company can use other strategies along with push-pull integrated strategy in the chain, especially partnership strategy with competitors and/or supplier-managed inventories. However, the result from research discovered that there has no demand information that is flowed between the firm and its competitors. The apparel fashion industry in six to eight months before introducing new styles each season is necessary to start designing, proofing, and convening meetings to forecast next season’s orders (First Batch). When the new collections on the market, they must respond quickly to consumer demand. However, because the market demand is difficult to predict, and the apparel fashion industry’s product life cycle is short, making two major problems: stockouts and high end-of-season stocks. For this reason, this study designs a simulation platform to simulate the current status, analyze the simulation data by Multivariate Analysis of Variance ( MANOVA) using SPSS, and propose a new way to manage a fashion industry supply chain, which are: cut the batch size for the blind zone of every season, quick response time improvement, change from push to pull. The simulation results of this study show that the propose scheme is capable to realize in order to reduce surplus and shortage.

In the supply chain of suppliers, manufacturers, distributors or retailers having low inventory with higher availability is a primary objective. In order to achieve the primary objective, they usually choose two strategies: (1).In accordance with forecasting the future customer demand for production or replenishment (push system); (2).In accordance with the actual customer demand for production or replenishment (pull system). The majority of companies are using the former. Although the pull system’s feasibility obtains the verified in many research or the enterprise, but the manager still suspected the high variability of demand can be handled with pull system. In this study, a simulation environment with the practice of supply chain systems, inviting thirty teams (90 participants) from local companies participated in the experiment. The experimental results verify that the principal factor for poor performance caused by method of managing supply chain (push system or pull system). Given a proper target inventory level and replenish the inventory based on actual demand can achieve the primary objective of lower inventory with higher availability.

Natural or man-made disasters can occur at any moment results in supply chain disruption. Although companies known the potential risks their business are exposed, many of them are not prepared to respond to demand during a disruption in their supply chain, neither intend to invest in create or redesign their supply chain to be resilient against those events. The purpose of this research is by using the simulation software developed by Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute will compare the performance of a pull and push supply chain system design, also confirm the assumption that with a pull system a company can better handle a short time disruption of the supply chain.

The Global Server OBM(DELL、HP、IBM、LENOVO) designed pull Supply Chain management.OBM selected the final assembly factory which near end customer.OBM requested ODM/OEM to provide semi-finish goods inventory that nears the final assembly factory or inside the factory. The cassis volume for server product is huge.OBM designed the main board or cards inside the chassis and arranged ocean shipment. ODM/OEM must offer the minimum inventory in VMI and MIT inventory on ocean shipment. It is more than 2 months inventory for ODM/OEM.If OBM forecast accuracy performance is not good then ODM/OEM has to undertake VMI inventory burden on cash flow. This research utilizes the process-oriented Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model as our analysis tool for investigating the distribution of the supply chain.Through the penetrate interview, we understand the problems after W-company implement the postponement methodology on production and shipment. The research analysis what is the optimal push and pull supply chain parallel management in order to lower the shortage risk on OBM and inventory risk on ODM/OEM. It also provides the suggestion on inventory KPI design on defferent department and product design for pull supply chain management.
