The third amendment of Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution, conducted in 2001, had significant implications for the nation’s judiciary. It transformed the judiciary from a single to a dual structure. Consequently, there are two apexes of the judiciary: the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. Furthermore, the establishment of the Constitutional Court divided judicial review authority between the two apex courts. The Constitutional Court can review laws against the Constitution, while the Supreme Court has the power to review whether regulations, made under laws, contradict such laws. Although

The modern Supreme Court of Canada plays a pivotal role in Canadian politics. As the highest court in the country, the decisions of the Supreme Court touch on a wide range of issues: criminal law, civil law, federalism, and individual rights and freedoms. The Supreme Court of Canada is the nation’s highest court of appeal. To understand its role further, it is useful to discuss the Supreme Court within the context of Canada’s judicial system. This research examines the Supreme Court's agenda setting behavior. Specifically, I examine the impact of the external environment on the Supreme Court's certiorari process. It is hypothesized that the Court's behavior during this process is conditional upon: 1) its ideological relationship to Congress and the public, and 2) the types of issues before the Court. I argue that the Court behaves strategically, and that as the Court's ideological distance from other actors increases, it will be more likely to structure its agenda in favor of issues that fall within the Court's domain. The automated textual analysis of law corpora is highly valuable because of its impact on a company's legal options and the raw amount of available jurisdiction. The study of supreme court jurisdiction and international law corpora is equally important due to its effects on business sectors. Abstract:
“Rights in Review″ is an annual review of Indian Supreme Court decisions on constitutional fundamental rights cases in the year past. In 2017 we surveyed all reported decisions of the Supreme Court adjudicating fundamental rights challenges from Dec 15, 2016 to Dec 15, 2017. Once again we select cases which extend or modify existing legal doctrine, apply the law to new factual circumstances or otherwise have a significant impact on public policy or public affairs. We have identified 11 cases this year based on these criteria.
